I have a SQLDataSource that I'm having a little trouble with. I am using a parameterized FilterExpression and am not getting something right. So, I want to see what the final SELECT output will be that the SQLDataSource is generating and will be sending to the database so I can see what the SQL looks like. How do I do this?
Added:
Here is my code so far:
DetailSource.SelectCommand = "SELECT * from Pictures ";
DetailSource.FilterExpression="ParID = '{0}' AND CardNum = '{1}' AND SeqNum = '{2}'";
DetailSource.FilterParameters.Clear();
DetailSource.FilterParameters.Add("ParID", GridView1.SelectedRow.Cells[1].Text);
DetailSource.FilterParameters.Add("CardNum", GridView1.SelectedRow.Cells[2].Text);
DetailSource.FilterParameters.Add("SeqNum", GridView1.SelectedRow.Cells[3].Text);
Response.Write(DetailSource.ToString());

I am in the process of re-developing my website into ASP.NET from a product called LogiXML. My background is in front end design using XHTML, CSS and Javascript with a good understanding of SQL so this is a HUGE leap for me.
In one of my Views I have created an asp data source to count the number of scheduled meetings:
<asp:SqlDataSource
ID="CountRS"
runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString
%>"
SelectCommand="
SELECT count(*) as countRS
FROM WebMeeting_Calendar
WHERE MeetingDate > getdate()
and MeetingType = 2
">
</asp:SqlDataSource>
Next, I created an asp panel where I wanted to control the "Visible" element by the value returned in the data source but even when using a simple 1 = 0 (to return False) is not working for me.... Basically, if the count of meetings is zero, I don't want the panel to show.
<asp:Panel
ID="Panel1"
runat="server" Visible="<%# 1 = 0
%>"
>
</asp:Panel>

I have a webpart that outputs a ListView control. Typically, I create a business layer that contains all my db calls, put an ObjectDataSource on the page, and tie the ODS to the BLL, and wire the ListView / GridView to the ODS. I've tried moving that paradigm into a webpart and can get the ListView to work if I use a tableadapter as the datasource. However, I would like to use my ODS / BLL structure. When I run the code, I dont' get any output from the ListView. Here is the code:

I'm trying display data from a sqldatasource but I need to customize fonts, sizes and layouts. What would be the best way to do this. There's not much data only 8 rows and 3 cloums.
It's for a display screen that will show workers how much product they have produced.
I was looking at binding the data to lables and laying out the lables in a table but that process looks intense and streching my knowledge.

I am developing web-app in .NET for 5 months (and enjoying it =)) and I am reading 3 books, all of them teachs at least 2 methods for acessing data: ADO.NET and SqlDataSource object.
I am used to work with ADO.NET method because I feel that even if it needs coding by hand, I can separate the SQL routines from the page and I can customize database routines better.
For now I am using DataReader mode because the application and the database is on the same server and there is only 1Gb RAM available so there is no advantage using DataSet on this moment.
Am I thinking this right? There are some things with SqlDataSource that I don't know how to do it well...
For example:
I have a routine that inserts a record on a table then gets the ID of this record using SCOPE_IDENTITY() function of SQL Server, than it uses this ID to insert another record on another table. Because I use a one-to-many relationship on multiple tables...
How can I work this situation using SqlDataSource object, is it even possible?

I have a table with articles. Every article has a column named category which value is either 1 or 2 On my landingpage the article headers are displayed as hyperlinks. All the articles with category 1 will be displayed in a repeater control on the left side of page and all the articles with category 2 will be displayed in another repeater control on right side of page. I know I can bind the repeaters to two different sqldatasource controls with different SELECT statements. But I wonder if I can do this by only using one sqldatasource control, and if this is better and proper way of doing it. If so, do I create a (datatable?) and do the sorting there?

I am building a SortedList object for use as the DataSource of a GridView control. The key-value pairs are being built manually with the "key" fields being inserted in already sorted order. The "key" column is invisible with the "value" column the single displayed data item. I set the DataSource property of the gridview to the sortedlist and call the Bind method. The gridview then displays the data in random fashion!

I am using Visual Web Developer (VWD)and I dragged in i.e created a Gridview. In the codebehind of the page, I will like to declare an sqldatasource and get data from a database using the sqldatasource and then bind the sqldatasource to the Gridview. PS: I know how to drag-in an sqldatasource and attach it to the gridview using VWD but this time, I want to do this declaratively in the codebehind.

First off, suggest better ways if you want rather than patch up this code. I am just starting this project and it is first time I have tried to code a web site so anything you suggest is very much welcomed. I have spent the last 2 and 1/2 days trying to find workable answers to this but none I have found and tried seem to fit. If needed I can email screens shots or code. I am trying to construct a website that will have the same main theme throughout as far as the header, navbars sitemap, and footer go. Naturally the content will vary from page to page. I want to use a single master page and css stylesheet for this main theme and I will change the content format as needed per page because each page may vary somewhat.
However, about 15 of the pages will all use the same format for their content and this format will differ from the rest of the site but the format of the main theme will stay the same. So I am trying to create a nested master page to use to format the just the content area for all these pages while retaining the main theme for the header, etc.. I believe I should use a separate css file with the nested master page to handle the formatting of the content areas for these 15 pages. I have code that looks like it works when viewed in web developer but design view but does not work when viewd through a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox). So far I have the following done in web developer.
If it helps the code and screen shots follow. Master Page called "Parent.master". For all theme throughout site Nested Master Page called "Lab.master". For the 15 like pages Primary stylesheet file for main theme called "StylesheetNew.css" For site theme Secondary stylesheet file to syle the 15 like formatted pages. It is called Labmaster.css Labs.apsx file to use as first of the 15 like pages.
Finally screens shots from web developer and browser. Sorry try as I might I could not capture screenshots and put them into this post. The problem is that web developer shows all the area (many lines high) with gray background and with the XXX text that I want to allocate for content in the 15 pages. Yet all the browser show is one line of text o a white background followed by the footer. It looks like the LabStyleSheet works in Web Developer but not in a browser.
