How To Manupilate SharePoint / AspMenu Control (Style-wise)
Mar 23, 2011
What I want to do is to split-up the globalnavigation bar on the sharepoint 2010 so I can control what menu-items should be floated to the left or right of the bar.
Is there a way to do this without a complete customized version of it, so I only have to edit the current one. Or do I actually have to make a complete new one?
What I have tried so far is just copying all of the UL > LI's there's used to display the menu-items like this:
I have basic understanding to cache webpages for duration. Now I have some complex requirements:
1. User e.g "Nauna" login in asp application 2. Visit on report page 3. Pass data range from 01-01-2013 to 30-12-2013 and extract the report which retreive data in 55 seconds on gridview 4. Now I want that when next time user "Nauna" login in the application and use the same report with same parameter 01-01-2013 to 30-12-2013 so that report should be come up from cache instead of run the complete life cycle.
For the sake of client-side performance, it's best to minimize the number HTTP requests to load a page. Is it possible to combine the contents of all Javascript files stored in the "Style Library" such that the client only has to make one request instead traditionally, a request for each Javascript file?
I have deployed a custom SharePoint Web service on Farm A. I am trying to access this Web service from a SharePoint timer job on Farm B. On Farm B, I am creating Class Library project, packaging it (wsp) and then deploying to GAC. The problem is I'm unable to access the Web Service using the following code. TodaysNewSVC is a service reference
//getNewsFromInsite is a WebMethod which returns the DataTable.
Note: Both farms use the same active directory authentication. I have also done the debugging for Timer Job and feature activation and they are working fine. The problem occurs during the call i.e. getNewsFromInsite The asmx and wsdl files are accessible from Internet Explorer and also from Windows Console application. Here is the code which I use from console application:
GetTodaysnewsfromInsiteSoapClient objWSClient = new GetTodaysnewsfromInsiteSoapClient(); objWSClient.ClientCredentials.Windows.ClientCredential = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;[code]...
Here is the error message:The request failed with the error message: -- <html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body> <h2>Object moved to <a href="%2fPages%2fproblem-with-page.aspx%3fc%3d500">here</a>.</h2> </body></html>
i have a user web control wich has the website menu. this menu is viewed through out the entire web site.
i would like to mark the selected link, on the menu with in the web user control,in some way (red background or w/e) the thing is, i cannot manage this from client side since there is a page_load on every click on the menu (witch brings up a different page). the only thing i can think of is saving the click to the session and then retrieve what was clicked and change the style accordingly via c# in the code behind.
This is annoying, because I have to apply this style to every single thumbnail image individually, when there could be any number of them on the screen at any given time. All of the thumbnails are inside a single <div> that groups them together, and I'd like to apply a single style to the <div> that will push the attributes I need down to all of the the <img> elements nested inside, regardless how many thumbnails there are.
I have the following code which works well on my local machine, but when I deploy it to Sharepoint 2010 the jquery doesnt work... the calender control doesnt pop up when the web page is added to Sharepoint.
I know it's usually the other way around, but I have some extenuating requirements that must be met (read as "No one bothered to do the research and now I have to bail them out")
I have a standard user control (ascx) that is to be imported into a SharePoint 2007 website. Due to a design constraint, a sharepoint web part that is also needed has to be nested inside of this user control.
So in other words, the user control would have to look something like this:
<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="foo.ascx.cs" Inherits="foo" %> <div id="container"> ...snipped... <!-- SharePoint web part goes here --> ...snipped... </div>
I've noticed that on aspx page IntelliSense doesn't display the Style property of a web control, even thought the control does have a Style property. Does that mean we shouldn't declaratively set the Style property:
Following error comes when creating a WebPart In sharePoint 2010 Server.

I'm trying desperately to move from VSS to a real source control system. Options include TFS and SVN.My designers need to keep their ability to modify source files and instantly preview their changes in a browser without having to commit their changes. Using FPSE with VSS, this works flawlessly, since saving a file causes the copy in the working folder on the dev server to be updated, so they can just save and refresh their browser which is pointed at the dev server.The site in question consists of 350k+ lines of classic ASP code and some new ASP.NET MVC. They only need to be able to modify views within the MVC code, not C#. Though Expression includes a version of Cassini for local debugging, Cassini does not support classic ASP. Surely someone has solved this problem before. It can't be necessary to install IIS on each designer's machine (this is absolutely untenable). I need a way to have a common working folder on a dev webserver updated whenever someone saves a file locally, just like using FPSE.
Ajax AsyncFileUploader is appreaing very bad in my ASP.Net(C#) web app.
Another very annoying thig is that; when its style is set to modren it does not show that grey image with the text "Select File" in any of the browser except IE 7.
While with "Tradition Style" the height of this control looks so squeezed in both IE 7 & IE 8 , And Is there any way so that we can change the style of that Browser button like the other buttons on out site and can we apply textbox skin on the uploader to it can shape like a textbox?
I am converting across an old popup system from an older app into a newer one and want to take advantage of the ajax control toolkit to do all of the popups.
Unfortunately the business will require me to make the popups look like the old version (essentially just another page opened in a smaller window and showing the title bar). The problem I can see with using the ajax toolkit is that there is no "title bar" that gets included with it as its not really a new window.
<asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="RequiredFieldValidatorOnlineID" runat="server" ControlToValidate="TextBoxOnlineID" ErrorMessage="Online ID is required.<br />" ToolTip="User Name is required." SetFocusOnError="True" Display="Dynamic" CssClass="validationerror"></asp:RequiredFieldValidator>
Rendered Server control code:
<span id="ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderSYLMainMaster_RequiredFieldValidatorOnlineID" title="User Name is required." style="display:none;">Online ID is required.<br />
I have tried the following to remove the style attribute with no luck:
I don't need and want the style attribute, how can I prevent it from being written into my code? It messes up the alignment of the error message with my textbox.
My validation controls don't line up with my textboxes because I can remove the inline styles, how can I make style=display:none disappear?
<span id="ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderSYLMainMaster_RequiredFieldValidatorOnlineID" title="User Name is required." class="validationerror" style="display:none;">Online ID is required.<br />
I want to code some colors in the style property of some controls. For instance, I want to use some like DarkGoldenrod, which is shown as
ARGB=(255, 184, 134, 11)
How do I convert this to something that I can use in a style property (e.g., style="color: #CCCCCC)? I know how to convert the first three numbers (255, 184, 134) into a six digit hex value, but what do I do with the fourth number (11)?
I did try to create menues from the database. I noted that the code only allows for top level 1 and level 2 (submenu) menu items only.I modified the code and got what I wanted. Now I have issues with formatting. The subsequent menu levels (submenus) are not well formated. how i can format the menu items using CSS?Below is the modified cosde:This code seems ok.
Private Sub PopulateMenu(dt As DataTable, parentMenuId As Integer, parentMenuItem As MenuItem) Dim currentPage As String = Path.GetFileName(Request.Url.AbsolutePath) For Each row As DataRow In dt.Rows Dim menuItem As New MenuItem() With {.Value = row("MenuId").ToString(), .Text = row("Title").ToString(), .NavigateUrl = row("Url").ToString(),
I'm developing an ASP.NET user control in VS2008 that writes to a SQL Server 2005 database. I've published the control to a SharePoint 2007 MOSS page using the SmartPart addon. The control consists of a few text fields and a submit button that writes the contents of the text fields to the database. When I test the control in the Visual Studio debugger, it works fine. When I try to submit data from the SharePoint page, I get the error shown at the end of this post. Last time I saw this, it was a database permissions error, but I've granted my site's default application pool read/write access to my database. Does anyone have any idea what else the problem might be? Also, how can I double-check the credentials that the SharePoint page is using to access the database, since I still suspect that this is a permissions issue?

I am using asp.net menu control with sitemap. I placed this control in master page. I want to apply style sheet for that menu control. Can any one tell how to do that.
However when i render the control, my styles are not reflected.
When i check 'View Source' it applies my classes(italic) and ALSO applies in-line styles (underlined)along with it, which overwrites my styles. for e.g.
I need to desgin a dropdown list control which can contain N number of rows (which is normal) and M number of columns inside each row (which is not very normal)
Each column will contain a special charecter, and clicking on the charecter should add that chrecter to a textbox placed along side the dropdownlist. It can be imagined as an N * M matrix inside a dropdown list.
I have downloaded the latest version of AJAX toolkit (AjaxControlToolkit.Binary.NET35) and add to asp web page as I did many times before without any particular problem. However this time I'm experiencing unwanted results that make me want to through the computer into my neighbor's pool. The tab control is rendered with the following inline style:
