How To Define A Content Control Through C# Code

Aug 16, 2010

I am writing a webpart and was trying to update the browser title... so, I went into mywebpart.ascx added the following:

<asp:Content ID="contentPageTitle" ContentPlaceholderID="PlaceHolderPageTitle" runat="server">
<%= SPContext.Current.Site.OpenWeb().Title %>
</asp:Content>

I then got this error:

Content controls have to be top-level controls in a content page or a nested master page that references a master page.

So, I am trying to do it programatically in mywebpart.cs by doing:

Content content = new Content();
content.ContentPlaceHolderID = "PlaceHolderPageTitle";

I now need to input this piece: SPContext.Current.Site.OpenWeb().Title

What property in the Content control allows me to do that?

How To Define Onblur Event Dynamically In .NET Code

Nov 17, 2010

What I am looking for is to dynamically create two textboxes from the C# ASP.NET code (either normal textbox or html input text, I don't mind)And then I tried (and failed) to define an event that fires when the first textbox looses the focus, so, what is written in the first textbox should be copied to the second textbox.I tried to use onblur() event, Since the body of the function of onblur event should be written in javascript, so my two textboxes that I created in the C# ASP.NET file will not be known by javascript code

Access Content From Code Behind?

Sep 29, 2010

I am an experienced web developer but sometimes ASP.Net is tricking me. I have a master page in asp.net. Then I have a page based on that master page (home.aspx). Now in home.aspx.cs I want to access the asp:content controls to add controls programmatically.

Aspx looks like this:

<asp:Content ID="leftCol" ContentPlaceHolderID="cphLeftCol" Runat="Server">
<asp:PlaceHolder ID="phLeftCol" runat="server">
</asp:PlaceHolder>
</asp:Content>

I would expect that I can reference "leftCol" from my code behind. But it's unknown there. For testing I added my own placeholder "phLeftCol". I can reference that without issues.

Using Code Blocks In Head Content And Link Tags?

Feb 1, 2010

I'm building an asp.net app using themes, and I've assigned a theme to the app using the web config.

I have a bookmark icon that I want to use for my page and it is located in the themes directory, but I am having trouble referencing the themes location from a link tag in my header.

First I tried putting a code block inside the link tags href element, which did not work. Instead all it did was html encode the <% characters and output it directly to the browser:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/App_Themes/<%=Page.Theme %>/images/bookmark.ico" type="image/x-icon" runat="server"/>

I am able to put a code block inside an element in an hr tag though, so I don't know why it won't work in a link tag:

<hr test="<%=Page.Theme %>"/>

Then I tried doing a Response.Write inside the head tag, but I got an error saying the Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks:

<% Response.Write("<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/App_Themes/" + Page.Theme + "/images/bookmark.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>"); %>

I also tried it just with a string literal, and got the same error:

<%= "<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/App_Themes/" + Page.StyleSheetTheme + "/images/bookmark.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>" %>

Is there any way to reference something from the themes directory inside the link tag?

I'm trying to do this in both an ASP.NET 2 and an ASP.NET 2 MVC app.

Web Forms :: Access Usercontrol's Hiddenfield From Content Page Code Behind?

Apr 21, 2010

I have a usercontrol on the content page. I'm trying to access this usercontrol's hiddenfield.

I was able to access it before applying the master Page. But once I changed the page to a content page , the value in the hiddenfield is showing empty.

alert(document.getElementById('<%=hidLat.clientID%>').value) is showing the value.

I have a property PickupHidLat defined on the ascx page and I'm using this property to access hidLat value on the content page.

objBLL.Latitude= DirectCast(uc_MyClient.PickupHidLat, HiddenField).value

why is the value null on the content page?

Are Content Web Forms Able To Access Variables Declared In The Code Behind Section Of It's Master Page

Dec 1, 2010

I have a Master Page which controls the styling of my site. In the Code Behind, there are a few class instances instantiated as well as variables. These classes validate user access and then create user objects

I have a few Web Content Forms which carries out instructions based on the user objects. So far it seems that on each Web Content Form I have to create new instances of the classes found on the Master Page. This is doubling my work for every Web Content Form.

Is there anyway I can inhereit Classes and objects instantiated in the Master Page Code Behind?
