How To Force ListView To Show First Page Programmatically
May 17, 2010
I have a paged ASP.NET ListView. The data shown is filtered, which can be controlled by a form. When the filter form changes, I create a new query, and perform a DataBind.
The problem however, when I go to the next page, and set a filter, the ListView shows "No data was returned". That is not weird, because after the filter is applied, there is only one page of data.
So what I want to do is reset the pager. Is that a correct solution to the problem? And how do I do that?
I have a webpage with a button. If I click the button and enter the event handler for the click event (so I have actually a postback) I want to force a second postback in this event handler.(Background for this weird seeming request is: I change the theme of the page in the button click event handler. To make this change immediately visible I need to pass the PreInit event of the page again.)At the moment I force a "refresh" of the page by redirecting the page to itself:
[Code]....
But this clears all controls on the page as if I would enter the page the very first time. For instance, a textbox already filled out by the user is emptied. But I want only a postback which does not change any control contents.
I have a page with a ListView and when users need to edit an item, it works and updates just fine in edit mode. However, one thing that I don't want is every item from ItemTemplate to display in edit mode, which it's doing right now. Is there a way to limit the EditItemTemplate to only one item--that for which the edit button was clicked? I have the pager activated in LayoutTemplate so I have a suspicion that the pager may have to be inactivated by code-behind when edit mode is entered.
I am populating an asp.net listview control from my page_load event. Unfortunately, due to my projects requirements, I have to use a third party control within my listviews ItemTemplate that needs to have database values written to its attributes before my listview control is bound, if this is not the case my control flags a null reference exception error. From some investigation into the listview control, it seems that the only way to do this is through my listviews ItemDataBound event as my thrid party control will hold different value depending on each row.was wondering if it's at all possible to force my listviews ItemDataBound event to fire before I call mylistview.databind();?
Currently the ListView control displays data horizontally when there are two to three columns. How do I get the ListView control to display data from top to bottom if there are two two to three columns?
I know how you can set an tag's url attribute programmatically in c#, but it seems when I try to access the image element inside of a tag I cannot access it. The is residing in the <AlternatingItemTemplate>. NOTE: I am only having this issue inside the <AlternatingItemTemplate> Now the ListView tag is also databound.(this is probably why I cannot access, because it isn't guaranteed that it will even exist perhaps). How can I get around this so that I can display my images programmatically or is there a better solution?
I am trying to force to show to the Logon popup when the session is timeout in Integrated Windows Authentication Enabled website. The session_timeout is firing during the session timeout, but the User.Identity.IsAuthenticated is true. How force to use the Windows Logon Screen when the session is timeout.
What's occurring is that I'm explicitly firing an event so that the parent web page can monitor this and take appropriate actions. Thus when the user clicks on a different ListViewItem it triggers the population of associated data elsewhere on the web page.
This all works fine except for one thing: When I first load the control I'm pre-setting the first ListViewItem. Unfortunately, just setting the ListView's SelectedIndex = 0 doesn't fire the aforementioned event handler.
So I started investigating how to call "listView1_ItemCommand" but couldn't figure out how to instantiate the "e" parameter.
I've a listview in which i'm binding data from objectdata source. I have a requirement where i've to allow edit/delete for only certail listviewitem which meets specific requirement. How do i dynamically set that some item can be only be edited not deleted thus only edit button/link should appear and vice-versa.
I can't use the SQL Reporting Services ReportViewer control for security reasons I'm using the SQL Reporting Services web service to get reports When the format of the report is HTML I insert the report in the middle of the page doing this
[Code]....
the important parts are the GetEncoding to convert the Byte[] of the html since a Byte[] is what is returned from SSRS but I'm at a loss for how to do something similar if the format of the report is PDF if the Byte[] contains a PDF how do I show it? I'm able to show the PDF using Response.BinaryWrite(result); after setting the Response.ContentType to pdf but that displays the PDF as the ENTIRE page I have a Master page and the content page has other text and navigation buttons, etc I need to show the pdf in the middle of the page This is an ASP.NET 3.5 application
I have a client request that all times be displayed in Pacific Time Zone, regardless of client settings. I'd like to avoid a scenario where I have to call a function for every time display and instead have a single point where I can make the switch.
I'm thinking a custom culture might do the trick, but I wanted to ask before I set off down a potentially blind alley (or miss something trivially easy).
I need to know how to do what the following would intuitively do if it worked (imagine useGreek() and useNato() to be states that would be consulted once per load or postback):
(It will already be apparent that I'm not usually asked to write for IIS.)
Anyway, ASP.NET doesn't like code interleaved with list items, so this is a no-go. I imagine that there's some C#-based way to handle this somehow, but I've been trying for a few days now with no luck.
Also, just to be clear, I'm seeking a server-side solution here. I'm well-versed with jQuery, but we're trying to keep most of the processing of this particular form off the client.
I need to write some code that will force a page to time out.
I tried putting a thread to sleep for a VERY long time, (It is still running as I type this) but it seems to just keep going...
How might I do this? (I need to test some code that should execute if a process times out {script not session} but I can't test it unless I can make it time out...)
The problem is this: I am writing a system to show helptexts on certain labels. So in the PageLoad I recursively iterate all controls and save those with a certain tag. So far so good.
On the PreRenderComplete I iterate the controls and set their text property. The strange this is that the labels in ItemTemplate don't get the new text. The PreRenderComplete fires after the DataBound event of the gridview, the label gets found perfectly, in the end it has the new text, but in the page it's still the old text.
I hope I don't need the Row_Databinding event of the gridview, since I want to put all the functionality in an extender class with as little custom work as possible.
I have image paths that comes from database and I want to show small ones in Listview and when I click it opens in ModalPopup window with Next and Previous, Close Features..Something like lightbox..I can't make it to work with lightbox.net...
I have an <asp:ListView> but for some reason the LayoutTemplate section does not show when the list is empty, although the <EmptyDataTemplate> section shows. The LayoutTemplate contains the headers for the table, and I want to show an empty table when there are no items in the datasource, not just the content of EmptyDataTemplate. If there is no choice I will copy the LayoutTemplate into EmptyDataTemplate.
Is it possible to show empty items in ListView in ASP.NET 4.0 ? For example, there are 2 items in the datasource, but I want to show them + 2 other empty items.
I am displaying a Modalpopup programmatically with todo_modalpopup.show() in serverside code. The Panel's Style is set to display:none.. But when I click on the target control id (which is inside the Grid) , the panel loads fully in the page itself and then displays the modal popup.
I'm looking to have my page in "Edit" mode all the time. to do this I have the following code in the page_load of my page:
[Code]....
This works in all scenarios `except` when I open the catalogue and select "close" instead of adding controls to the page. Selecting close sets the page back into "Display" mode. Is there a better way to do this?
I'm having a problem with entering edit mode in Gridview. When I click edit, it shows it in normal mode (labels) even though RowCommand does successfully fire.
But I have to click it AGAIN to get it to show the TextBoxes of 'Edit' mode.
How can I fix this? Is there a way to force a 'postback' on the entire page, or re-render a control? (i'm assuming thats the problem)
Here's the pseudo code:
GridView1_RowCommand(....) If e.CommandArgument = "EDIT" then GridView1.EditIndex = 5 End IF End Function
A click of the 'edit' button returns the gridview with the normal labels. Then when I click it again, the TextBoxes show up.
I'm unable to force a page to always expire in Safari. Chrome, IE and Firefox are good citizens but Safari is cruising along just fine with ignoring the following ASP.NET code:
I'm not sure if this is the best category for this one... Might be more appropriate in the navigation section.I am curious as to the standard for redirecting users to a entry page on first accessing a website. In my case, I am working on an adults only website that requires a warning for users that the content is only appropriate for users over 18yo, as well as containing the scripts to activate several different monitor systems to prevent children from accessing the site.
I know I can use session_start to redirect and check for a cookie... but that seems heavy. Is there a better way? Something in IIS or... something I have not thought of yet?
