I have a Parameter @CategoryID - however I need to take in a category ID such as "BA" and translated this to a list of Category IDs such as "IE","EG" etc so my WHERE clause looks like:
WHERE (CategoryCode LIKE 'IE' OR CategoryCode LIKE 'EG') AS Info
I have a Lookup Table which contains the "BA" code and then all the real category codes this means such as "IE" and "EG".How do I have the CategoryID expand to multiple "OR" statements in my SQL Function?
At the moment the query as shown can cope with one CategoryID such as "IE", this is done as I want a category page such as category.aspx where a parameter "BA" is passed such as category.aspx?category=BA and this page will list all items with the category codes "EG" and "IE".
The reason I need this is there is a "parent" category code which has multiple "children" category codes which are different to the parent code. I am using ASP.NET and .NET 3.5 on the front-end if this helps.

This has several properties including the userId and role list.
I've looked at using initParams, but haven't been very successful there (edit: I couldn't do it dynamically originally). I've created a simple POCO entity with a [Key] attribute, but I need to at least be able to pass the userId from the aspx page to the imbedded silverlight.
What is the easiest way to pass a dynamic object from aspx to silverlight 4?

Silverlight - CGI And Debugger - Can't Pass Through URL Because Actual Request Is Coming From Server
Oct 4, 2010I've got a Silverlight app that has to accept some initial data when it fires up. That data, unfortunately, MUST come from XML input. In addition, I can't just pass it through the URL because the actual request is coming from a server external to my own.
So the basic setup is this: Remote server needs to launch my app. Remote server pops open a window on the user's PC with a URL directed at a CGI application that can accept the XML input. The CGI app parses the input and spits out an HTML page containing the Silverlight app with all of the init params set. Long story short: When the Silverlight app is opened this way I can't debug it. I attach to the process, but none of the break points can be hit.
I tried every way in the world to get the ASP.NET page that would normally host the Silverlight app to accept the XML in the URL but it would get stripped by ASP.NET because of security reasons and no amount of modifying the config file would fix it (since it was stemming from the other web server presumably).

The challenge that I am facing here is that in the gridview, the grid is bind to a dataset/datatable. But in silverlight, I do not have dataset/datatable available in the silverlight class. So only option is to create a Webservice and convert the dataset that I am currently getting from business layer to a class that imlements IList<> (unless there are any other ways). Now to convert this dataset to Ilist, I have to loop through the dataset to load the List. In my current dataset I have almost 10,000 records or even more in some cases. Aug 17, 2010I have built a WCF Service that is being consumed by a Silverlight app. At first I created one method that was very simple:

No poblem. My silverlight app references my service and displays "SF Test" in a textbox. Now I add a method to my wcf service like this:

I update the reference to the service in my Silverlight app and the using statement in my xaml cs page throws an error like the service doesn't even exist although it is there. I am assuming the problem has to do with datatypes or serialization or something like that but it is driving me up the wall. Why can't I consume a simple generic list in my Silverlight app through the WCF service.

Run A SQL Query With A List Of String Values Using The "WHERE [columnname] IN [values]" Format?
Mar 11, 2011I have a SQL query I'm running in an ASP.NET page. The final parsed SQL needs to contain a list of string values in the WHERE [columnname] IN [values] format. For example, the final query might look something like this:
SELECT PRODUCTNAME FROM PRODUCT WHERE PRODUCTCODE IN ('ABC','DEF','GHI','JKL', /* etc */);
However, the string values in the WHERE clause need to be dynamic. Normally I use parametrized queries to make my code convenient and safe, so conceptually I'd like to do something like this:
String[] productCodes = { "ABC", "DEF", "GHI", "JKL" };
SqlCommand cmd = "SELECT PRODUCTNAME FROM PRODUCT WHERE PRODUCTCODE IN (@ProductCodes)";
cmd.Parameters.Add("@ProductCodes", productCodes);
However, this sort of functionality doesn't appear to exist in .NET. How should I go about implementing this? I could use a foreach loop on the array and run a query with a single value as a parameter for each value, but there could potentially be a hundred or so different values in the array and it seems like querying them separately would be very inefficient.
I've read another question where someone suggested a solution for strongly-typed int parameters, but that method would make me nervous about SQL injection when used with String values, especially since the client may very well be able to influence the input values.
How would you implement this query functionality?

What I have right now is an application that the user can add, search, and update various orders in the System. I've been working on the front end page, and wanted to display a summary of all orders performed this month. Right now the Orders are represented as labels (based on data pulled from the database). What i'd like to do is replace these labels with hyperlinks. I was hoping that by doing that I could somehow write some code so that when an order is clicked that the user is taken directly to the search page and that order is displayed.

or whatever it needs to make it work.

The first and Main problem is that i do not know the way of passing my values to the source:
By saying that i mean, supposing i have a a server-side ASP.NET function GetTheResults as listof(string) or GetTheResults as string ()
how am i supposed to pass those values as source required by the auto-complete?
The second problem is that the specific way does not use AJAX.
Which means i guess on the load of the form i will load all the available values to the source. Isn't that an overkill?

Jun 17, 2010I would like to know the method of passing session variables/values to a subdomain from the main website.For eg : Upon user login, I would like to set some session variables and redirect the page to a subdomain URL.
How can this be done? fyi... I have setup two websites in IIS. One is localhost and the other is subdomain.localhost
So, If I want to retrieve the session values in subdomain.localhost (which points to a specific folder in the app), how should I go about it?
