I thought that Page_Load events executed every time a page was loaded not just the first time. Am I wrong on this?
I have a Page_Load event that writes text to a label to display on the screen: Output.Text &= "Welcome to my Website <br />" (Output being the ID of a Label control)
I also have an On_Click event for a button to display the same information: Output.Text &= "Welcome to my Website <br />"
After clicking the button, I expected to see the output twice. Once for the page being reloaded and once for the click event. I thought that Page_Load events executed every time a page was loaded not just the first time.

Have a GridView in an UpdatePanel, all works fine. Click the Submit() button which updates the database on postback, then the GridView is bound in code and I register an alert:
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this.UpdatePanel1, typeof(string), "dopopup", "alert('Operation successful!');", true);
Calling UpdatePanel1.Update() causes the popup to appear. All fine but what I am noticing is that the alert occurs just before the page has fully updated and is causing a few minor layout issues that are resolved when the alert button is closed (by clicking OK). Is there a way to generate an alert after a full UpdatePanel refresh, so something like:
ScriptManager.RegisterFullyLoadedScript(this.UpdatePanel1, typeof(string), "dopopup", "alert('Operation successful!');", true);
I tried a simple wait() in the code like this:
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this.UpdatePanel1, typeof(string), "dopopup", "wait(100);alert('Operation successful!');", true);
But this didn't work.

When a user visits our site they see a coverflow. They are not logged in so they cant see any images. Once they log in they should be able to see images in the coverflow but they cant because the flash object is being cached.
A user can get around this problem by setting the IE settings to (check for newer versions of stored pages every time they visit a site) however we need a way to force the browser to refresh the flash object once they are logged in, without telling all of our users to change the settings in their browser.
Is this possible?
[code]....
You can see my inline c# script to generate random numbers but that doesnt seem to refresh the object.

I have some serious performance Issues with Windows controls loading first time on IE Browser then subsequent request's. When ever i open Browser first time , mywebsite takes 7 seconds to load, but on subsequent request without closing browser it loads with-in 2 seconds.I Knew IIS on first time it re-compiles the process and for subsequent request's it wont perform and it cahches .I'm looking for better options to improve performance, when ever first time reqest's comes to web server.
On IIS 7 Server,I was using both Dynamic and Static compression enabled.Also,On application pool ,I set "ShutDown Time(Limit)" and "Startup Time(Limit") to 90 (seconds).Here is web.config i disable below to improve performance issues.
<trace enabled="false" pageOutput="false" />
<compilation debug="false"/>
Here is the Server Configuration
Windows 2008 Server
IIS 7 64 bit
Upto Date patches.
.Net Framework 2.0,3.0,3.5
Need inputs to improve performance when user call website for first time.

how to implement a counter in label which decrements every time page is loaded in asp.net(vb)? It would be better if that counter value is accessed from and updated into database..
I've tried this on buttonclick but the value is reset automatically to intial value everytime as the button is insert and page is reloaded
Protected Sub InsertButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Dim entries As Label = FindControl("label1")
entries.Text = entries.Text - 1
End Sub

I have a custom Panel with attribute Designer(typeof(xxxMainPanelEditor), typeof(System.Web.UI.Design.WebControls.PanelContainerDesigner)). The child controls of this custom Panel Control at design time can see all the exposed properties that I want to share from the Parent (no problem here).
However, if I place controls on an UpdatePanel, these child controls cannot see the parent container but instead, it immediately sees the form/page or DesignerHost. The problem is the same even if I put Panel on the UpdatePanel and vise versa.
Is there a way to manage controls inside an update panel? For me, this behavior is like saying that UpdatePanel is not container based during design time?

I'm looking for the easiest possible way to hide an UpdatePanel while waiting for the submit response to come back. Stuff like described here - using Ajax Control Toolkit and the UpdatePanelAnimationExtender is both overkill and causing some issues, namely:
Because there are a couple of hidden panels in the page it gets all messed up and hides the wrong panels. I have no idea why this is happening; I can't find a way to specify that only one button is supposed to trigger the animation. I did specify a in the UpdatePanel, but it seems that is ignored and all the controls inside the panel trigger the animation. A simple javascript solution would be ideal. The problem here is ASP.NET likes to generate weird IDs for the controls at runtime. Any solutions for that?

I've a ASP.Net page (Default.aspx) which will load UserControl (ucontrol.ascx) dynamically into an UpdatePanel. By using UpdatePanel, we believe we're able to prevent the entire page to be posted-back.
My problem is, within the UserControl, we have some form controls, such as inputs and buttons; after the UserControl is loaded, clicking on any button inside the UserControl will cause the UpdatePanel to be blanked. During the investigation, I found that, breakpoints within the Button1_Click() in the code-behind for the UserControl is never reached. Please reference to the code below, this references to [REFERENCE]1.

I'm developing an ASP.NET application with C# and Ajax.I have a page that holds user controls loaded dynamically. I need to pass some data (integer values and some strings) to the user control that has been loaded dynamically.Now I use Session to pass these values, but I think I can use another way; something like VIEWSTATE or hidden input.What do you recommend me?The fact that I load the controls dynamically is important because controls are loaded on every postback, and I can't store any value on controls.

I have a page that loads a usercontrol dynamically. Depended on the user's actions, this control may be unloaded in Page_PreRender and a different control may be loaded instead. I am attempting to use the solution outlined by Mark DotNet Evans in this post:
http://forums.asp.net/p/1491790/3814320.aspx
This all works great, except if the user clicks the refresh button in the browser just after the change of usercontrol. Then, I get an error
Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request. ...
I assume the error is caused by the browser re-posting the request with the old viewstate that matched the control tree when the page was loaded, but no longer does. How can I prevent getting an error when the user reloads the page?

This is a simplified version of what I want to do. Basically I have a datalist with a bunch of stuff in it and when you mouseover items in the datalist I want jquery to hide/show stuff. The problem is that after I databind my gridview/repeater/datalist jquery quits working if the gridview/repeater/datalist is in an update panel. After you click the button in the sample below, the jquery that makes the span show up when you mouse over quits working. Any ideas of why this is happening, how to fix it or a better way to do this?
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.comment-div').mouseenter(function() {
jQuery("span[class=mouse-hide]", this).fadeIn(50);
});
$('.comment-div').mouseleave(function() {
jQuery("span[class=mouse-hide]", this).fadeOut(50);
});
});
</script>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<div class="comment-div">
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server">
</asp:GridView>
<span class="mouse-hide" style="display: none;">sdfgsdfgsdfgsdfg</span>.......................

When user cliick on the control before page fully loaded it goes to error page.
Following is the trace.
Execution Error
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

I want to create a page with 4 UpdatePainels but when this page loads in the browser only the first UpdatePanel will load and others will be hidden. This others will be load when I click on the buttons located on the first UpdatePanel. My intention is that the page doesn't load entirely at once, just when I click on the buttons. How can I do this?
