The Web project we are working on is built against .net 1.1 framework. We would like to automate the build process for this project by using msbuild. However MSBuild only targets 2.0 framework. So how can this be done if we like to use MSBuild or MSBEE(this asks us to convert the web project to new version by opening up in Visual studio IDE)?We cannot convert the project to suit to 2.0 framework
i have a webapplication project which uses some functionailty from class library project, i am Using VS2010 TCP 4.
so the class library is a reference in this webapplication project,
unfortunatelly, when i build the webapplication, the class decleration has been lost!!!, and the message appear "The type or namespace name 'ClassName' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)" !!! i must delete the class reference from the webapplication and re-refrence it again !!!
but still when every time i build the project the reference decleration removed !!! does that error in VS or what ?
I have a post build event that combines my JavaScript files and outputs to Production.js, however if Production.js is not checked out, the build fails. Is it possible to automatically check Production.js out when a project is built? [Edit]If possible using a post-build event, does anyone know how to do this? I am using Visual Studio 2008.
I have been asked to do some work on a website. I downloaded all of the files and chose "open website" in Visual Studio. In the picture below you can see the file structure. When I run the project I get some errors such as "could not load type 'AdminSite.Partner.Listing" or "file project/adminmaster.master does not exist'. Now, those files are indeed there. I have noticed that within the Admin folder and the Home folder there are compiled DLLs in the bin folders. Also, there are project files within each of those folders. I've tried opening the project files and the projects only encompass the files within each of the Admin and Home directories respectively. I'm just wondering what the best way is to set up this solution. As I've done so far, by opening it as a web site, why is it not seeing the DLLs in the bin folders when I run it? Do I need to reference them somehow?
is session state must get destroyed each time we are building our project in web applications? this is really annoying because i have to re-log and get to the page i'm currently working on each time i need to build my project...
I'm just getting started with the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit and got it installed into Visual Studio 2008 without issue.I created a very simple sandbox web app by following several tutorials. Some pages have a single button with a modalpopup event, others are using a calendar extender on a textbox. I've gone through many, including ones that you can interact with and seeworking on the website. Each time, VS builds the web app without issue and deploys and runs. The problem, however, is that "no AJAX happens" when I try to use the app. This has happened on two separate PCs running Windows 7 - one with Pro and another running Ultimate, all 64-bit One machine was also running Visual Studio 2010 beta 2).When I hit a page with some of the toolkit controls, the page renders normally and I see a lot of script references in the generated HTML so something's happening. But take one example:
I'm left maintaining a proprietary codebase from a third-party vendor. The vendor is still sort of around, but support is limp. The site is ASP.NET.I have made some changes but I am having a really hard time getting IIS to compile these changes in. The bin/ directory has what I believe is a precompiled dll for the core classes. I've changed these but it doesn't recompile. I have tried deleting the dll but then the app refuses to build saying that the Global.asax can't inherit the type anymore, so I don't really know how to rebuild with changes.
I have downloaded a project from the internet called the SMS Source example. I wanted to open this project in VS2010, so a conversion wizard has popped up prompting for the conversion. But it has errors in converting.
I recently updated my VS2010 website project from .NET 3.5 to 4.0. Everything was working fine in the website project. Today I decided to migrate the website to a web application project as I have learned this is the best way to work in .NET. I split out all my class files into a separate class library and copied all my other content into my new project. Then I updated all the references and web.config.
When I build the class library, everything works great. The problem is happening when I try to build/debug the web application project. It is acting like all the controls are missing and it is also throwing a bunch of compile errors about the public properties I have in my master pages.
Control errors: "The name 'INSERT CONTROL NAME HERE' does not exist in the current context"
Master page errors:'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition....
It is giving these errors for every single control and master page property in my entire solution.I notice when I add a new web.form to this project, it also adds a filename.aspx.designer.cs file in addition to the .aspx and .aspx.cs file. My existing files do not have these extra files since they were created in a different .NET version.
UPDATE: It seems I was missing the step where I need to right click on the new application folder and select "Convert to web application". I just did that and it seems to be a little bit better...
Now it is choking on Literals that are inside single quotes:
I have an image that was a gif and saved as a favicon.ico. I get an error when I build the project that says data is invalid for this. What does this mean? Is it corrupted?
I've got a asp.net web application, but if i try to publish it i get this error:Error 210 Copying file objDebugPackagePackageTmpimagesaanhalingsteken1.png to bjDebugPackagePackageTmpobjDebugPackagePackageTmpimagesaanhalingsteken1.png failed. Could not find file 'objDebugPackagePackageTmpimagesaanhalingsteken1.png'. 0 0 I've deleted this image, so what to do so the project can be build well ?Is there a collection of images somewhere?
When I turn on Code Coverage in my test settings, on a project that references the Unity DI container I get the following error:
Cannot initialize the ASP.NET project'{Project Name}'.
The event log specifies the following reason:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.Unity, Version=2.0.414.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. Strong name signature could not be verified.
I have a Framework 1.1 site that i'm moving from a server running Windows 2003 IIS 6 to Windows 2008 R2 with IIS 7. I'm getting weird errors in IE it says Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. Chrome displays This webpage has a redirect loop. The webpage has resulted in too many redirects. It displays the .htm files fine but won't display any .aspx files. I installed the .net Framework on the server

The project type is not supported by this installation.Do I need to change anything in my web.comfig file in order to make this run. Below I pasted my web.config file.
The problem is that yesterday I started working on that project and I got it from SVN.I compiled the project and it worked. But today I started to make modifications on the project and I got that error.I loaded the version from yesterday of the project again from SVN,I restarted the computer but the error appears again. Can you give me any advice what is the problem?
