I have downloaded a project from the internet called the SMS Source example. I wanted to open this project in VS2010, so a conversion wizard has popped up prompting for the conversion. But it has errors in converting.
Error msg:
Conversion Report - SMSSend.csproj:
Error converting project file. MSB0001: Internal MSBuild Error: Missing resource 'MissingAttribute'
I recently updated my VS2010 website project from .NET 3.5 to 4.0. Everything was working fine in the website project. Today I decided to migrate the website to a web application project as I have learned this is the best way to work in .NET. I split out all my class files into a separate class library and copied all my other content into my new project. Then I updated all the references and web.config.
When I build the class library, everything works great. The problem is happening when I try to build/debug the web application project. It is acting like all the controls are missing and it is also throwing a bunch of compile errors about the public properties I have in my master pages.
Control errors: "The name 'INSERT CONTROL NAME HERE' does not exist in the current context"
Master page errors:'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition....
It is giving these errors for every single control and master page property in my entire solution.I notice when I add a new web.form to this project, it also adds a filename.aspx.designer.cs file in addition to the .aspx and .aspx.cs file. My existing files do not have these extra files since they were created in a different .NET version.
UPDATE: It seems I was missing the step where I need to right click on the new application folder and select "Convert to web application". I just did that and it seems to be a little bit better...
Now it is choking on Literals that are inside single quotes:
<div class='<asp:Literal ID="CssClassLiteral" runat="server"></asp:Literal>'>
It doesn't see this literal when it does the conversion... Is the above valid code or should I implement that functionality another way?
I am making a document management system in which user has to save documents. I don't want the user to browse and select the document and then upload it. I just want them to scan it there and then save it. So i guess I will have to interface a scanner. how I can do it in asp .net web application.
View 4 RepliesI want to create an webbased application , in wich i want to add functionality for scanning. And i also want to ocr scanned document, how can i do this in asp.net ?
View 2 RepliesHow do I do the old chestnut of scanning a directory of documents and building a web page that displays the list with built in links to the documents. Also the usual UPLOAD and DELETE functions would be good in order to add more or remove documents from the web form.
I come from a ColdFusion background where this would easily be acheived with the <CFDIRCTORY> and <CFFILE> tags...... !!
Am using VB rather than C#.
I am wondering what the best strategy is for accepeting http uploaded files on a web server in a safe way? I have access to scanning software which will quarantine suspect files, but not really sure what the best practice is for this kind of thing? This is somewhat of a pest as the form data and the uploaded file form a logical unit - the fact the files must be scanned (pottentially quarantined) means I would need some kind of callback, post upload mechanism for handling this.
Is there a preferred way (or peice of software) for handling thsi kind of thing?Happy to elaborate of anyone wants to comment or assist? I'm aware I can limit file size, file extension etc, so really just concerned about stopping viruses entering the web server and/or network. And I guess to do so in awy that allows me to interact with scanning software such that I get feedback in relatively real time??
I am attaching an image to a listview from code behind, the image depends on a value from the database and there are 5 different images. It sometimes works fine and then will randomly come up with an error, when nothing has changed, the error is:[Code]....
It doesn't seem to make sense to me because ImageUrl IS a member of image. Here is my code:
[Code]....
And code behind: [Code]....
I want to display image on image control by passing image path such as
image1.ImageUrl = "C:Documents and SettingsadministratorDesktopITINIRARY IMAGEScience North eastTsomgo Lake.jpg"
I have a javascript menu and this is really weird.
The original code had a header.gif and a headerover.gif. That was the background for the menu tabs but I did not like the colors, so I made my own gifs, and renamed them to red.gif and yellow.gif. And of course, they were red and yellow, just to test it out. It worked great, the tabs were red, and yellow when hovered over. Put it into my project, and included the script file, the images and code and i worked, red and yellow. Made new pics, blue and grey. Named them normal and hover. Added them to the project, and changed the code to point to those images instead, but still red and yellow????? SO I deleted all the code from the css and the aspx page. I deleted the script, and deleted the images. I saved the project. Then I put the images in the project (hover, normal which are blue/grey) and added my aspx code and my script and my code to css (pointing to hover, normal which are blue and grey)
Run the project and it's yellow and red. How is this possible? The images aren't even in the project, the code doesn't point to any red or yellow image.
I get this error while trying to create a class lib project Name 'HttpContext' is not declared.i included Imports System.Web.

I am looking for some solution of the random user image.I created some image and calling it from database if user has no image. But i dont like it, it is quite ugly.Is it exists some random image generator, like here in stackoverflow the the user has no photo.
View 2 RepliesI am working with two different web sites in asp.net. In the first project i upload some images to a specific folder under the project root and save just the filename in the database, now i am trying to display this images at some page of the second project I know the filename from the database and the image folder as absolute pat but I have not been able to display the image, even thought when looking in firebug the image src is correct src="D:/MyFolder/image.jpg" the image does not display, probably because it is not pointing in the right directory. I have also tried using Server.MapPath and then my D location but still no success.
View 3 RepliesI have an existing application that was written in .NET 3.5. The piece of code in question is using the FileUpload control and its SaveAs method. Its worked perfectly for the past six months, but I've recently upgraded the project to .NET 4.0 and I'm now receiving an "Access to path (...) is denied" every time the method is called. It works fine locally in dev mode but fails on my prod server. I've upgraded the website to run under .NET 4.0 and I've made sure the account (Network Service) it runs under in the app pool has full control. Other than upgrading to .NET 4.0, nothing has changed for the project.
View 1 RepliesI have two web projecs that use or share some image and localization file (chinese and english).
I don't want to have a copy on each of the project.
Is it possible to share those images and localization file using Satellite Assembly?
When I turn on Code Coverage in my test settings, on a project that references the Unity DI container I get the following error:

The event log specifies the following reason:

I'm trying to use DropDownList like this

and when I build my project I get this error:

a using directive or an assembly reference?) c:UsersUser1AppDataLocalTempTemporary ASP.NET Fileswebmvp8a9a9ab08b762337App_Web_nzuoptnz.3.cs 71
How I can fix this?
