Members view (index) that lists members that users can select to show a partial view in the same view with details for the selected memberUses jquery (Ajax.ActionLink) to call a partial view method in the members controller to then load the members detail sectionWorks fine up to here....but I'd like to load the partial view with "member" details for a default or random member on initial load -- ie not through the Actionlink selectionHow do I invoke the partial view method on the initial load?
I have data in ParamList (from SQL reporting services database)which I want to display in a GridView. as ParameterName and VAlue. I am able to retrieve the parameters but can't figure out how to read them into ArrayList (or whatever method you coud suggest) and then bind to grid. Final grid should be like this-
ParameterName ParameterValue Year 1011 Number1 0011 Number2 0101 Number3 0201
Here is the code I'm trying to figure out-
Dim intCount As Integer Dim strparam As String Dim strparam1 As String Dim varResult As Object Dim ParamList as string ParamList = "Year=1011&Number1=0011&Number2=0101&Number3=0201" varResult = Split(ParamList, "&") Dim arrList As New ArrayList() 'loop through array and retrieve parms For intCount = 0 To UBound(varResult) varParam = Split(varResult(intCount), "=") strparam1 = UCase(varParam(0)) strparam = varParam(1) arrList = ??? Next 'and then display tsi data into a grid. GridViewParams.DataSource = arrList
I always thought we had to use a DataReader or a Dataset to read a given SQL data but i realized that it is not necessary to use them to read an SQL Output Parameter(im not a SQL expert).

I have an user view model that has the following properties:
public User user; public List<Language> Languages;
I send the above model to the view and use html helpers to build the form, so I end up with something like:
<form action="/Users/Edit/5" method="post"><input id="user_UserId" name="user.UserId" type="hidden" value="5" /> First Name Last Name Email Language
Now, I try to read the POST in something that initially was something like :
[AcceptVerbs( HttpVerbs.Post )]
public ActionResult Edit( int UserId, FormCollection form ) {
and cannot get the user.UserId variable, user.FirstName variable etc.
what needs to be done to be able to read this kind of POST request. I'm kind of reluctant to modifying my ViewModel as it is very simple and easy to maintain as it is.
Can a view pass some sort of model like data to a Master page? I am using the ViewData collection, but that makes for confusion in my code. When I specify the Master in the View, can I also specify a parameter?
I am having a problem with my sql query in c#, basically it's inline query with parameters, but when I run it it tells me that parameter 1 or parameter 2 is not there here is my query declared on top of the page as public:
this is my code for assigning the parameters, I know I am having problem so I am assigning the params twice:
Username =(cmd.Parameters["@username"].Value = row["username"].ToString()) as string; cmd.Parameters["@username"].Value = row["username"].ToString();
In 1 methopd it calls this query and tries to insert to table, here is the code:
Result = Convert.ToInt32(SqlHelper.ExecuteScalar(con, CommandType.Text,InsertStmtUsersTable));
Exact error message is: Must declare the variable '@username'. Could this code be a problem, because all the previous coding is declared with in this using statement, except declaration of query, here the using statement: using (SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(InsertStmtUsersTable, con))
I have created a Details View and set some of the fields to read only. I have added the edit command which is allowing me to edit all of the fields that are not set to read only but when I press the update button all the infomation stored in the readomly fields gets deleted and just show up as blank is there a way to stop them from getting deleted.

I have a simple model where a Person has Gifts. I have a view which is a list of Gifts belonging to one Person.
My problem is with the Create action for a new Gift. I want it to default to the PersonID that we are already viewing the list of Gifts for. I tried simply passing the last PersonID (they are all the same)
Html.ActionLink("Create New", "Create", new { id = Model.Last().PersonID }) which works fine if there is already at least one Gift for that person but if this is the first Gift I don't have a value.
My Gift List controller knows the PersonID I want to pass but the view doesn't.
How do I pass this PersonID from my Gift List controller to my Gift Create controller via the Gift List view? Or is there a better way to do this?
I've a MDX Query that has where clause as shown below.I'm designing report using SSRS 2008. How can i pass date as parameter? I tried to setup @from and @to as parameter but not working?
WHERE ( {[Date Central].[Calendar Date].[2010-04-01 00:00:00]:[Date Central].[Calendar Date].[2010-08-30 00:00:00]} )
need it to work as WHERE ( {[Date Central].[Calendar Date].[@From]:[Date Central].[Calendar Date].[@To]} )
One of our customers has a report with a single value string parameter that has over 1000+ possible values. selecting single value from 1000+ choices results in bad UI, among other things.create another parameter that acts a filter for the other parameter. So you would have Param1 with say 25 choices and selecting a choice would narrow down the option for the second parameter.Is this the best way. What is the best practice for handling these kinds of parameters?
How do you use the http POST method with a Grid View on another page. I am trying to use the POST method to send the ID from the selected row of a Grid View, I am using a link button set to fire the select command and it has the Post Back URL set, from one page and then retrieve the ID value on another page using an Object Data Source. Also, under the Defining Parameters, I am setting the ID parameter to Form Parameter Source and have entered the Grid Views name in the Form Field.
