MVC :: Required Attribute With Resource Definition Uses Wrong Language
Aug 30, 2010
I'm having a problem with a multilanguage application in MVC. On my model I'm using the following:
[Code]....
This takes care of validation... However the messages are always in the default language. Meaning that the setting of the culture of my thread is occuring too late (I'm currently setting it in my base controller 'OnActionExecuting'). Where could I patch in to change the culture accordingly before validation takes place?
I have created a web service. When I check the service directly from it's web page it works correctly. Here's what the code looks like:
using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Web; using System.Web.Configuration; using System.Runtime.Serialization; using System.Web.Services; using System.Web.Services.Protocols; using System.Web.Script.Services; using System.Runtime.Serialization.Json; using System.IO; using System.Text; using Microsoft.SharePoint; using System.Collections; namespace MDA.WebParts.SPRolodex_Web_Service { [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [ScriptService()] public class SPRolodex_Web_Service : System.Web.Services.WebService { public SPRolodex_Web_Service() { } [WebMethod] [ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)] public bool ListExists(string personalUrl, string listName) { try { SPSite mySite = new SPSite(personalUrl); SPWeb web = mySite.OpenWeb(); SPList list = web.Lists[listName]; return true; } catch (ArgumentException) { return false; } } } }
However, when I call the method using ServiceProxy.js (a jQuery based library) I get this error
"Only Web services with a [ScriptService] attribute on the class definition can be called from script."
As you can see the class has the ScriptService attribute and the methods have the ServiceMethod attribute.
In my project i add a reference of one dll and it has some resource files(.resources). Also my project has some resource files with the same language name(Spanish, french and Germany). Also i think we can't add the two resource file for one language. Now how can i mangage both the resource files?
I'm working on resource files in windows application. After i'm adding the resource file in the project if i built the project it creates a separate folder for each language with language code(Spanish->es-ES, French->fr-FR..) and also it has one dll file for corresponding langage inside the folder. Why it is creating like this? Can't we avoid this?
An error occurred during the processing of /_layouts/MyPage/Info.aspx. Literal expressions like '<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>' are not allowed. Use <asp:Literal runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" /> instead
That doesn't work in this situation as that would mean nesting the Literal between the quotes of the accesskey attribute, which causes a "The tag contains duplicate 'ID' attributes" error.
Is there a way to use a string from a resource without having to change the input to an asp:Button? I guess there has to be a way using <%=, but I don't know how I would address the resource itself?
I have a web page which contains 3 drop down boxes followed by 3 textboxes. I am implementing Required field validators for all of them . But when i hit submit , The Page first checks for empty Textboxes before checking for any value in Drop down boxes , but i want the Drop down boxes to be validated first before Textboxes. How Can it be achieved?
The above things are simple but when I run the project. I got Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Cannot have more than one binding on property 'Text' on 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label'. Ensure that this property is not bound through an implicit expression, for example, using meta:resourcekey. Source Error: The above is just an example what I am facing in my project. how can I make localization and binding both at the same time.
I'm a newbie to .NET and hope someone can help me.I have written two files aisle7.aspx.vb and aisle7.aspx.When I try and view the page http://www.servername/aisle7.aspx I get the following errorDescription:An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request.Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.Compiler Error Message: ASPNET: Make sure that the class defined in this code file matches the 'inherits' attribute, and that it extends the correct base class (e.g. Page or UserControl).I've spoken to the suppliers technical side who say that the code withing the .vb page is exactly how it should be but I cannot get the page to work.The start of the aisle7.aspx.vb file reads

I am migrating from IIS6 to IIS7, and IIS6 was fine with this. I already made one change (system.web to system.webServer) and I don't know what's wrong with it now.
We're trying to get a conditional attribute to work, case in point, there's a boolean (checkbox) that if checked, its related text is required. So, ideally we'd have something like ...
public bool Provision { get; set; }
[ConditionalRequirement(IsNeededWhenTrue = Provision)] public string ProvisionText { get; set; }
Is this even possible?
Alternate idea (not as elegant?) public bool Provision2 { get; set; } [PropertyRequired(RequiredBooleanPropertyName = "Provision2")] public string Provision2Text { get; set; }
I uploaded a few new pages to a web site and now I am getting these errors no matter what I try. Parser Error

I have a weird thing happening. I have two identical databases installed on one virtual machine but under two different instances of SQLServer. For some reason, periodically when saving from one it will save to the other instead. Using debug, I have verified that the connection string is correct and when the item saves, it still saves to the wrong database.I use session variable, and am of the belief that it might have something to do with it...and t hat when I go from one to the other it is still getting the connection string form the other for some reason.To make sure that it isn't a problem, I make sure that I completely close out one database before opening the other in a new IE window.I assume that when I completely close out an internet explorer window that it abandons all session states. Is that true?
There is a Compilation Error at the web site located at http://cforedu.comDescription: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.

when i execute the above code,i observed that in status bar message as "connecting to localhost",if they are client side controls what is the need of going to local server,why it is happening?
When I generate code using T4 templates in Visual Studio 2010, I get the following error for each of my asp controls when I try to compile:
Control "ddState" is missing required attribute "showat".
I have never gotten this error in previous versions of .NET. Further, I don't get this error when I manually construct my pages either by dragging/dropping, nor do I get it when I type out the control text myself. When I generate code, I have to manually add showat="client" to my tag for the compiler to be happy. It was my understanding that I never had to explicitly specify this tag. The following:
solves the problem. Why do I have to add this to generated code but not other times?(It's a VS-2010 webforms project, using VB, in case that makes a difference.)
I have a very weird thing happening. I have two databases that have exactly the same tables but different database names on the same virtual machine, but in different instances of SQL Server. For some reason, when using one of them, it will save to the other. In debug, looking at my connection string..I have verified that it is correct, yet when I allow the save, I look in the table and it isn't there, it is in the other database that is in a table with a completely different name and in a different instance of SQL Server.
I am developing a multi language website. language change is working very well on master page. from master page I am storing session to use in contant pages.
when I am trying to change text (<p>.....<P>) in content page, thats not working.
Here is the thing. I have an aspx page with NO master page. I have two resource files with the same name (and specifying the language) in the App_LocalResources folder. If I do something like text="<%$ Resources:lblUser %> works fine. What I do to test it is change the browser's selected language.
But, if I do the same in a MasterPage or in a Page that is inside a MasterPage... when changing the Browser's language and refreshing... I'm still getting the default language...
I've been reading some threads about this but the situation was a little bit different.
I have created a web application and generated local resources. Its working when user select language from browser. But what i want is, when user select language from dropdown list, i want to change the pages according to selected language. i can save user selected language in a session. then how should I change/assign local resource file to web page?
I'm creating a website that is going to be dual language, so it will have a german face and an english face and the user can swich between the two versions.
