Is it possible to validate a form that has been loaded dynamically by Ajax? I have two forms that I load on a page with another form and niether of the Ajax forms can be validated.

I'm using the latest RC with asp.net mvc 3, and have turned on unobtrusive javascript validation and added the necessary scripts to the page. All of the validation works perfectly, but when I try to submit the page, it simply doesn't post. If I turn unobtrusive javascript off in the web.config without making any other changes, everything works perfectly fine.
Here's my scripts I'm using:

I am migrating my application to MVC3 and getting this error message Validation parameter names in unobtrusive client validation rules must start with a lowercase letter and consist of only lowercase letters or digits.How can I ovoid it without going and modifying all my ViewModels
View 10 RepliesJust found out this problem. Upgraded by site to jQuery 1.5.1. I had some cascading dropdowns populating via some very simple code like this:

This code no longer runs with jQuery 1.5.1 AND unobtrusive validation active. Fails also with jquery 1.5.0. Works fine with jquery 1.4.4.
Why is it that client validation is getting triggered saying that my Default Theme field is required even if I didn't specify a [Required] attribute in my model?

The default validation in MVC 3 is based on jQuery Validation, which I can usually customize with something like:

I know the unobtrusive client validation is required using Html.XXXFor to generate the input html. But in my project, I want to use Html.TextBox(), and also want to use unobtrusive client validation. I think you'd better expose a extension method like Html.TextBox(..., ModelMetadata,... ) allow me pass the ModelMetadata manually.

For some reason fields named with '.value' or .anything does not generate client validation. For example this code:

I am trying to implement an ajax form inside of a jquery ui dialog.
I have a view with a button that opens the modal dialog form, makes an ajax call to an action that loads a partial view into the dialog. The partial view consists of a form created via Ajax.begin form. When I post the form I close the modal and update a div on my main page. This all works fine.
The problem is, the next time I open the modal and submit the form the http POST for the form is called twice. The third time I open/submit the form is submitted 3 times and so on...
It seems as if the submit button/form is bound multiple times and I cant figure out how to fix this.

I just create a js file and write all my codes into it after i added this file to UserControl and after i get this UserControl's html i use $("#DivID").html(UserControlHTML);
Its working now.

Im using Ajax and Webservice to load UserControls. Its ok i can easily get the html code of UserControl but there is a problem.
For example UserControl's html code is something like that.

When i get this html code and insert it to an div's innerHTML.html looking as it should. But javascript codes which written on usercontrol not working.It should give me alert but its not.
I have applied validation through JQuery Validation Plugin on my page. The validation works fine but once the Clear button is hit to clear out all the fields on the form, and then the save button is clicked again, the validation doesn't fire and the form gets submitted. I have called the following javascript function on click of Clear button to clear out all the form fields :-

The Clear button is on a ChildPage and ResetForm function is on the MasterPage.
I am using Accordion with multiple AccordionPane. Each AccordionPane has a form tag that contains asp controls such as dropdownlist and textboxes and buttons to submit or cancel. Each asp control has a requiredFieldValidator assign to it. However when a i am in a particular AccordionPane to submit the form, the validator for other fields in other fields is highlighted preventing me from submitting.

I have one text box with a range validator, and a submit button.I also have a confirmbuttonextender and modalpopup.The popup still displays even if there is a form error!
How does this work with validation, since the popup displays when the button is pressed and not when the form is validated correctly?
I have a panel (say, panel1) inside another panel (say, outer-panel)….The panel1 is visible only when a checkbox is checked in the outer-panel. I am using ajax update panel to do this.
Now I have many text boxes in the panel1. I have to put a validation on all the boxes.
I tried to test this by putting validation on 2 boxes and this works fine on my local machine. When I put the same logic on the server, it does not. Of course the page on my local machine has fewer text boxes compared to the page on server. But I do not understand why the same logic works on my local machine and does not work on the server. I did try to put a validation group, but of no use.The page on the sever is a very long one and also it has a captcha control….. when ever I try not to enter text in one the text boxes which has validation and then hit submit…it redirects me to another page with out prompting for the validation error.
Does Ajax post supports the usual validation upon submit of a form?

I make a partialView based "Detail-Edit" function as : 1 create two partial view : Details , Edit
2 in Details PartialView I render a link as "Ajax.ActionLink( .. "Edit" , AjaxOptions { get , updateTargetId="xx" , InsertMode="Replace" } )
3 in Edit PartialView I use "Ajax.BeginForm()" ...
As a result I can perfectly swith from Details view to Edit view in ajax manner ; however when I change to Edit mode in this approach, the "obtrusive js validation" loses its function that it can't prevent user from callback ajax even with invalid inputs. I think this is a common issue for MVC3 developers, could anyone help to give a standardized solution against this ? or any other valuable solutions ?In a word, just want to realize the traditional UpdatePanel-based "Edit,Details" effect on MVC mode with ajax .
I am using two update panels in a page. Both of them are conditional mode and display when a checkbox is selected. So far it is good. I have few textboxes in the the second panel and I want validations to be set on those text boxes on a condtion, ie if textbox 1 is not empty then textbox 2 's required field validatior should trigger and viceversa. I have written the following logic in the pageload method,

When I click submit, It does the validation on the server side, I kinda like it to validate on the Client instead of taking a trip to the server right away.

It doesn't work with and vs 2010, and ajax control toolkit 4 ( I downloaded from link belowand vs 2010) and It doesn't work with ajaxcontroltollkit 3.5 I downloaded from same link.but when i put Your AjaxControlToolkit.dll in bin folder of my project it works fine.
I downloaded the same version of tolkit.dll as yours (3.0.30930.0) and I worked for me.
but I'd like to use version 4.
