MVC :: Can Set The Unobtrusive Validation Support For Html.TextBox()
Dec 13, 2010
I know the unobtrusive client validation is required using Html.XXXFor to generate the input html. But in my project, I want to use Html.TextBox(), and also want to use unobtrusive client validation. I think you'd better expose a extension method like Html.TextBox(..., ModelMetadata,... ) allow me pass the ModelMetadata manually.
I am migrating my application to MVC3 and getting this error message Validation parameter names in unobtrusive client validation rules must start with a lowercase letter and consist of only lowercase letters or digits.How can I ovoid it without going and modifying all my ViewModels
Why is it that client validation is getting triggered saying that my Default Theme field is required even if I didn't specify a [Required] attribute in my model?
public class Site { public int SiteId { get; set; } Required(ErrorMessage = "*")] [LocalizedDisplayName("Title")] public string Title { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "*")] [LocalizedDisplayName("RootDirectory")] [code]...
I'm using the latest RC with asp.net mvc 3, and have turned on unobtrusive javascript validation and added the necessary scripts to the page. All of the validation works perfectly, but when I try to submit the page, it simply doesn't post. If I turn unobtrusive javascript off in the web.config without making any other changes, everything works perfectly fine.
Is it possible to validate a form that has been loaded dynamically by Ajax? I have two forms that I load on a page with another form and niether of the Ajax forms can be validated.
I am new to ASP.Net MVC 3, facing some issues while trying to implementing client side unobtrusive validation for a editor template I have created for showing date in a custom way.EditorTemplate for displaying the date in three parts
In this field I have a RequiredFieldValidator validation only. Unfortunately, after any PostBack if the content of any of the fields includes HTML tags or any other potentially dangerous code - the entire ViewState is cleaned.Setting ValidateRequest to false does not help. I'm using IIS 7.5 and .NET 4.0.
I make a partialView based "Detail-Edit" function as : 1 create two partial view : Details , Edit
2 in Details PartialView I render a link as "Ajax.ActionLink( .. "Edit" , AjaxOptions { get , updateTargetId="xx" , InsertMode="Replace" } ) 3 in Edit PartialView I use "Ajax.BeginForm()" ...
As a result I can perfectly swith from Details view to Edit view in ajax manner ; however when I change to Edit mode in this approach, the "obtrusive js validation" loses its function that it can't prevent user from callback ajax even with invalid inputs. I think this is a common issue for MVC3 developers, could anyone help to give a standardized solution against this ? or any other valuable solutions ?In a word, just want to realize the traditional UpdatePanel-based "Edit,Details" effect on MVC mode with ajax .
I'm trying to add a validation support to DropDownList by creating a custom control inheriting from DropDownList:
public class MyDropDown: DropDownList, INamingContainer { private const string ValidatorID = "Validator"; private RequiredFieldValidator _validator;
[Code]....
My class implements INamingContainer because I wanted to avoid naming conflicts. Unfortunately when I try using this control I get the following exception:
Unable to find control id 'MDD' referenced by the 'ControlToValidate' property of 'MDD_Validator'
This is happening beause for INamingContainer FindControl(NamingContainerId) returns null.
When I remove INamingContainer implementation and set validator ID in the following way:
i'm working on a MVC3 webapp and my Model consist of many classes that use a custom type (TextRef) for textual properties. for example my Product entity looks like :
[Code]....
TextRef :
[Code]....
so in my views i'm using :
[Code]....
how could i add validation support to TextRef items ? for example making Product.Title required
It is easy enough to add a required field validator to this page like this.
<asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="valMyTextBox" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtMyTextBox" ErrorMessage="My Text Box is required."></asp:RequiredFieldValidator>
But I need to modify the HTML slightly if this text box fails validation. I need to add a CSS class to the DIV. So if the user leaves this field blank I need the HTML to look like this:
Is this possible? I can't figure out if there is a way to write code behind that only fires if this particular validator control fails validation or something. I know I can write code that runs when the entire page is not valid. But I just want this code to run when this validator returns invalid. Hope this makes sense.
I have some data which is HTML format saved in database. Like the chat as follows.

But it gets saved in some HTML format in Database as follows.
[code]....
So, Is there any ways that I can show this in Text box as what I need. While debugging the code, when I did HTML Visulaliser, it showed me correct format. How can I achive this in my Textbox control.
I have a textbox which I need to enter html code into (like < strong> or < em> for example).The trouble is this is causing an error writing this back to the database. A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (tbVOther="< strong>testIs there a way around this without turning off the request validation setting?
I have a comment form inside the blog posts. in the form, if the user is authenticated, I will assign the values of the user into textboxes. that part is as follows;
[Code]....
But when I add HTML.TextBox instead of HTML.TextBoxFor, I am not getting validation if the user erase the fileds. Also, this form is inside the indext page and it is related to another action as follows;
[Code]....
so I cannot assign ModelState.AddModelError from controller.
