View 2 RepliesAs per my requirement, I am getting CompID, Company Name and URL from SQL database. I want to display just CompName and URL in gridvew. So, I need to hide the CompID in gridview. One way I can do BoundField field Visible to false but I need to retrive that compID id when user selected any of the row. if I set visible to false user wont see any compID in gridvew but I want access the selected compID also using SelectedRow.Cells[1].Text..
View 1 RepliesI have a View loading a PartialView via jQuery. The PartialView has ViewData that the jQuery needs to access, but I can't seem to get to it from the jQuery. The code below uses the HighChart jQuery plugin (and it is just test code taken from the HighChart example page):
<script type="text/javascript">
var chart1; // globally available [Code]....
This jQuery is in the main view, because I don't know how I could put it in the PartialView with the document ready function. But by putting the call to the HighChart function in the callback of the get() function it works in the partial view. But accessing the ViewData doesn't...
How can I achieve this? I need to get the data from the PartialView action method in order to populate the HighChart data...
Let's say there is a textbox and a dropdownlist in mainview page, these two values are used by three partial views as well. when I use Html.RenderAction to post action to those three partial views, how to pass these two values to those partial views and in those views how to get these two values as a part of a object to send to database.

I am facing an issue with MVC, work-around Scott?
View 1 RepliesI've got my Controllers in its own project, my Models in their own projects, and the Main App in ITS own project, which contains the Views folder.
So when I open up my controller cs file and right click on, say for example, the Details action and choose "Add View", it creates a Views folder within my Controllers project, and adds the view there. I want it to add the view into the Views folder in my Main App project. How in the world do I do this?
I have a simple online store where there are products that can be put into a cart and purchased. There is a admin page that can be logged into so that new products can be added or existing products can be removed or edited. To get to the admin area I need to put a /admin/index after the main page loads up. If I want to give my friends (from any location) the ability to add new products should I create a link to the admin area on the main page (like at the bottom) of the main page or should I just tell them to type in /admin/index after they go to the webpage?

View 1 RepliesAll I want to do is insert a hidden column into an asp:Griview that I'll be able to access through javascript.
View 3 RepliesI have LinkButton and HiddenField in a list view. I want to get the hidden value from HiddenField, so I can store it in Session and when a LinkButton is clicked it transfer the hidden value ( stored in Session) to another page. But I get this error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Here's the function:
Protected Sub lvTimeSheet_ItemCommand(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewCommandEventArgs) Handles lvTimeSheet.ItemCommand
Dim id As HiddenField = TryCast(e.Item.FindControl("hfTimeSheetId"), HiddenField)
Dim myId As String = id.Value.ToString
Session("myId") = myId
Server.Transfer("Destination.aspx")
End Sub
The mark-up
</asp:LinkButton><asp:HiddenField ID="hfTimeSheetId1" runat="server" Value='<%# Eval("hfTimeSheetId") %>' />
Every time the LinkButton is clicked, it causes error with above error message.
I am creating dynamic view using two tables.one is emp_Tbl and 2nd table emp_salary which is created dynamically .creating view it gives error 'Create View or Function failed because no column name was specified for column 2.
my code is: create view [dbo].[Emp_Salary_pay] as select dbo.Emp_Tbl.Emp_Status, (select column_name + ', ' from information_schema.columns where table_name = 'Emp_salary' ) FROM dbo.Emp_Tbl INNER JOIN dbo.Emp_Salary ON dbo.Emp_Tbl.Emp_Id = dbo.Emp_Salary.Pay_Emp_Id
I'm using ASPNetDB.mdb database for membership login and another database to store ads that members submit.
In my webform that collects the ad info I'd like to populate a field with the logged in member's Name.
I am saving "Instruction" in CreateInstruction view. This view has partial view "CreateInstnAttribute" which saves "Attributes" related to this Instruction. It requires the InstnID as foreign key. The Instruction is saved using JQuery to avoid postback. So how can I get the InstnID to save the InstnAttribute? I tried HiddenField to save InstnId but I am not able to receive the value there. Can we use viewdata directly in JQuery?
View 3 RepliesI tried to follow the instructions in this link to get display the hidden elements but I don't see this option in my VS2008 Professional Edition
can any one try this most of the options is not exist in my VS2008 ?

I am using hidden fields to save some preset data, but upon postback they appear to disappear.
Here's what my controller actions look like:
[Code]....
The view is coded like this:
[Code]....
But when the POST action receives the object back, some of the fields have become null. The FormCollection, however, contains all values. I realize I could just take everything from the formcollection but it's probably better practice to use the object, right?
My gridview has id in first column but I have hidden it . How do I send the gridview id to next page in query string.
View 1 RepliesI have a view created that I want to use as my datasource, however to enable to generate insert/update commands it specifies I must have all primary keys selected. Is there a way to set a column as a PK, or unique, within an already created view? And how?
View 2 RepliesI can't get this to work:
I have a grid view with several TemplateFields. A couple of them are set to Visible=False; each template field has an EditItemTemplate, an ItemTemplate and a FooterTemplate.
[Code]....
While in GridView_RowUpdating event, the value bounded to the EditItemTemplate is properly read
[Code]....
so, debugging ttbImp.Text = "4"; But when trying to get the value bounded to the FooterTemplate, the label contains no values.
[Code]....
so, while debugging, lblImp.Text = "";
why that? I believe it has to do with the hidden visibility of the field, but I can't understand why it reads the value inEditItemTemplate, and it doesn't in FooterTemplate.
I have a details view that is hidden and want to run an update when my page loads using a query string.
My datasource code is as follows:
<asp:AccessDataSource ID="UpdateCompanyUnique" runat="server"
ConflictDetection="CompareAllValues" DataFile="~/Titan.mdb"
SelectCommand="UPDATE Contact SET CompanyUniqueID = ? WHERE (ContactID = ?)" >
<SelectParameters>
<asp:QueryStringParameter Name="ContactID" QueryStringField="ContactID" />
<asp:QueryStringParameter Name="CompanyUniqueID" QueryStringField="CompanyUniqueID" />
</SelectParameters>
</asp:AccessDataSource>
The code runs butt the update does not work.
The parameters in the url are as follows:
.aspx?Leadid=9591&ContactID=7703&CompanyUniqueID=19616
I am referring below url , there is one column which has some large data i dont want to show in grid, but on clicking show detail i want to show detail in Modal Popup, right now it shows blank data, is there any solution for it. URL..
View 1 RepliesIn form1.aspx I have a hidden field.I am populating the hidden field with the value in the text box.
When I go to form2.aspx i retrieve the hidden filed value in another hidden field using request.form.
After using request.form ,the value is empty.
what can be the problem here?
In form1.aspx:-HiddenField1.Value = TextBox1.Text;
In form2.aspx
HiddenField_2.Value = Request.Form["HiddenField1"];
I have a requirement where I have a webpart and two ImageButtons(imgGV, imgLV) and a hidden input textbox('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType') in an aspx page. I need to change templates to this Webpart either to show results in "Grid View" or as "List View" on the click of this ImageButtons. I added code in the page_load of .aspx page as
imgLV.Attributes.Add("onclick", "document.getElementById('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType').value='LV';return true;");
imgGV.Attributes.Add("onclick", "document.getElementById(('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType')).value='GV';return true;");
When I am clicking the specific ImageButton, it has to write into hidden field either "GV" or "LV". In the webpart CreateChildControls I assign templates based on the text in Hidden field either "GV" (Grid Template) else "LV" (List Template). In the CreateChildControls of Webpart for the template change, I am getting the Hidden value as empty. I am using coding as
HtmlInputHidden t = new HtmlInputHidden();
t = (HtmlInputHidden)this.Page.FindControl("ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType");
if (t.Value=="GV") {
assign one template}
else { another template}.
I am getting t.Value="". Question is: Is it like if we add some text in a hidden textbox using the Javascript function in an aspx page, the same textbox value in the same aspx page but in the Webpart class in the CreateChildControls method using the code as this(webpart).page.FindControl("Textbox").text is showing empty. So the text added using Javascript into Textbox is it not available in the code behind code using "Text" property of the same Textbox?.
Looking for sample to access the hidden variable which is declared in the aspx page in the webmethod.
