View 9 Repliesi am calling a method from the aspx page
.aspx page
<%# CallMethod()%>
.aspx.vb
i did added a method to return string. in that string there will be control added to the aspx.
Protected
Function
AddDdl() As[code]....
When i add the above DropDownList from the code behind, and after rendering on to the aspx page, when i right click and veiw the source i can see the code but not able to see on the rendering page.
I have a web page with a form in the footer, when the user clicks submit in this form I submit their data and then return the view with the model with the line
[Code]....
but this means that the user is at the top of the page and cannot immediately see the validation errors or success message on that page as this information is posted in the footer section so is there a way to return a view with the model and a html fragment so the url is http://website/page#footer so that they can see this straight away without having to scroll down.
Also I have to assume the user has javascript turned off and the user could be using browsers ie6 and greater.
I'm using the old 404-rewrite method on a certain site that is tied to IIS6 *. So if I enter [URL] it calls my error page like so [URL]
Except if I call the page with a fragment, like [URL] I get the same result as above. I can't find the fragment anywhere:
Request.Url
Request.Url.OriginalString
Request.UrlReferrer
Request.RawUrl
headers, server variables, etc
This has come up because I want to resolve paths created by AJAX to their server-side versions. Is there any way for me to retrieve the original path from my handler?
I have a page, URI looks like this:
http://domain.example.com/Profiles/Profile.aspx?username=blah#blahtab
When that fragment (#blahtab) is present, some jQuery picks up on that and displays a different section of the page initially. However, that page requires a user to authenticate first. Coming back from the authentication step using FormsAuthentication, the fragment is discarded, regardless of the UrlEncode step.
I don't see the fragment actually sent to the server when I use a debugger on my local machine. Is this standard fare and the fragment is only for the client side?How can I keep that tacked on without writing my own redirection code on the login page?
Alternately, should I use another method to preserve the view of the page?
I'm trying to get a Razor conditional to write a few characters into an HTML page, but I can't figure out the syntax to pass the text characters straight to the screen. This bit of code works correctly:
@{if(sortColumn=="BbConvTerm"){<p>ASDF</p>}}
But I don't want those <p></p> tags. I just want it to insert the "ASDF" characters into HTML. For example:[doesn't work] @{if(sortColumn=="BbConvTerm"){ASDF}} [doesn't work] @{if(sortColumn=="BbConvTerm"){new HtmlString("ASDF")}} [doesn't work] @{if(sortColumn=="BbConvTerm"){Html.Raw("ASDF")}}
In our .aspx pages we have user controls each control has a Sql query to fetch data. The caching mechanism to be followed says that fragment cache all the user controls and invalidate the cache based on the respective queries of the user control.How to proceed to add a query dependency to fragment cached user control?
View 1 RepliesI have a web form and I use jQuery/AJAX/JASON to send objects to a web service using
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "SynchroniseCustomers.asmx/synchroniseCustomers",
data: JSON.stringify(customerObj),
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
error: function (xhr, status) {},
success: function (msg) {}
});
From the web service I want to check if the insert into the database was successfull, return a variable with an ID and pass this ID to a function. In the object I have the ID so I could have
success: function (msg) {deleteCustomer(ID);}
But this only checks if the data was passed to my method in the web service? I have followed this example http://encosia.com/2009/04/07/using-complex-types-to-make-calling-services-less-complex/ and in the class Person I get a message back from the database server telling me if the insert was successfull or not so like
if (successfull)
{
return ID;
}
is there a way to get this ID back to the web form and use this in a variable?
I have site that I need to have a vendor send an Http Post to us, using querystring parameters, then I have to look up some data and return a few results and parameters back to them. Can this be done using CLASSIC ASP? I ask this because I am still in a learning phase with .NET and have limited resources available to set up a web service.

I have a dynamic data bound drop down list, when the user selects thier selected item I have to use the autopostback feature.
Problem is: when the page comes back it is at the top of the page not where i have the control.
I don't really need it to focus back on the dropdownlist but to scroll to it, I want to do it in the code behind.
Any "New" ways to do it, I mean new as in code from like 2010 instead of old code from the early days.
I really don't want to use Page.Register new Script...... code if I can avoid it.
What would be cool is a ScrollToControl() Function for my code behind that worked but didn't register script.
[Code]....
I have created a back button on my asp page. However, I would like this back button a a sinlge click to return the user to the page 2 pages before. I have tried to enter the history.back(2) but with no luck it does not work.
I have a cascading dropdown. After the dropdown is populated(it is in another file) i would like to return back to the original form where the control is placed. is there anyway of doing it
View 4 RepliesI've created a Sign Out link on my page, just like the one you see on the top right hand corner of this forum.
This is the code i use :
<asp:HyperLink NavigateUrl="~/Login.aspx" ID="hypSignOut" runat="server" Text="Sign Out"></asp:HyperLink>
However, after signing out, I click the back button on my browser, I can still go back into the site. How do I prevent this?
i m having problem with logout code in asp.net with c#. this logout code should end session, disable browser's back button and and if somebody try to login by paste the url of any user account page.i used this code in login page
protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Session["name"] = TxtUserName.Text;
}
and in logout i used this
protected void logout_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Session.RemoveAll();
Session.Abandon();
Response.ClearHeaders();
Response.Redirect("login.aspx");
}
nothing happening back button is still visible
I have a gridview bound to a sqldatasource with editing enabled. If I click Edit, then either Cancel or Update, the update or cancel occurs and the Edit button reappears. However, I cannot then click the browser's back button without having the Update and Cancel buttons reappear. A second click of the back button takes me to a state where the Edit button shows again, *then* another back button click will take me to the referring page (the one before the one with the gridview on it.) IOW, it looks like the postbacks are cached. How can I prevent this and have the back button go straight to the referring page?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to see if it possible to create a back button that goes back 3 pages and refreshes that page. The make up of my page is a little complex. The Home page has a password prompt that enables a multiview to be visible with a gridview of information. The gridview has a details link that has a 2 querystrings that gets sent to the details page. The details page has the ability to be edited and updated. this is why I wanted it to go back 3 pages. The code I am using to go back is
<asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" OnClientClick="javascript:history.go(-3);return false;" Text="Back" UseSubmitBehavior="False" />
I am using an image button and on click of it i want to go to visited page.
Now i am using - Response.Redirect(Request.UrlReferrer.ToString()),
It is going to previous page, but when i am in a page of some user details where the link is looks like - users.aspx?userid=25 and i visit some other page and click back(image button) i want to see the same serdetail page. How to track that.
When I click Logout page redirect to Login page but when click to browser arrow back then it will goes back, I want to after Logout cannot going to back page...
View 1 RepliesI am using ASP.net with C#.After I logout its possible to go back to pages using back button.I could fix the prob for the login.I have prob with the logout.I am using the inbuilt login page provided by the asp editor.Should I use sessions?

View 4 RepliesI have four textbox and a button in my page. After filling the textbox. When the user click save button. A loading image should be displayed. User should not feel that the page is postback to the server,Some thing like in facebook loading image.
View 5 RepliesBeing new to ASP.NET I have run into trouble building my own Whack-a-mole program. I think my problem comes from using Buttons, which by themselves send post backs to the server, making the software unusable. The looks are in place, making new buttons show up in the grid, in different places by random. However, when a button is pushed - the score doesn't change (which I feel is strange).
Not so strange is that the Button doesn't work since it sends post back to the server - reloading the UpdatePanel. I think I should use a different controller like the CheckBox and style it hard using CSS (which isn't a problem). Is this the correct way to go, or should I make use of JavaScript AJAX instead?
Note to self: This technique shouldn't be used in a public application since it put too much unwanted pressure on the web server.
[code]...
I have built a WCF Service that is being consumed by a Silverlight app. At first I created one method that was very simple:
public String SfTest()
{
return "SF Test";
}
No poblem. My silverlight app references my service and displays "SF Test" in a textbox. Now I add a method to my wcf service like this:
public List<String> GetTest()
{
List<String> list = new List<string>();
String a = "a";
list.Add(a);
String b = "b";
list.Add(b);
return list;
}
I update the reference to the service in my Silverlight app and the using statement in my xaml cs page throws an error like the service doesn't even exist although it is there. I am assuming the problem has to do with datatypes or serialization or something like that but it is driving me up the wall. Why can't I consume a simple generic list in my Silverlight app through the WCF service.
I developed a web service in VS2010 on my local machine, wrote a consumer of it also locally, and that all works.
I copied the dll and the asmx file to our server, and I am getting an error when I try to invoke it from a browser (also still on the server machine) to make sure it correctly exposes its web methods, but it is not, it is saying "Could not create type 'Service'". That error comes from this line:
Line 1: <%@ WebService Language="C#" CodeBehind="~/App_Code/WarrantyDuplicate.cs" Class="Service" %>
There other web services in the same folder on the server that all work fine so I don't believe it's an IIS setup thing.
This is my first web service in C# and when I created it in VS I did think it odd that the code behind file went into App_Code (as you can see from the line in the asmx file) and is just named dot-cs rather than asmx-dot-cs. But since it worked fine locally, I wasn't sure that mattered.
I have asp.net 2.0 site which is calling web services hosted on another server. When i have an xml file from where web service ip for eg. www.mysite/webservice1/myservice.asmx is given. When i call the same server from developer machine using local networkit works fine.But the same is when hosted remotely and from client end when services is called reading xml fiile from client machine it given a message 'remote server not connecting'.
