Are there any free products or ninja methods to merge PDFs in a commercial application and serve as one PDF for the end user? I see iTextSharp does this, but we cannot comply with the GPL license and I was looking for a free method before a paid method.
View 2 RepliesI was just wondering, let's say I created a Method that is in a partial class in App_Code, and this Method would replace the same type of Method that would otherwise be in many files, and so, since it would be called from many files and would probably be called and used very frequently especially because of this. Would this overload this class? I'm not saying what would most likely happen, I'm just asking if it would be even remotely possible?

I've thought about something like this in a generic .ashx page:

I've got a c# handler that serves up audio files I've generated using text-to-speech. When the files are written to disk they sound fine, but when I try and play them in a browser (via the handler) using a quicktime plugin it cuts them short at about 2 seconds.
Inside the handler I'm using the following code...

Hoping there's been a "best practices" way to accomplish this so far. Basically, I'm building an ASP.NET MVC 3 site that I would like to host from a central database and server. I'd like for [domain1].com and [domain2].com to point back to this one server. Ideally, I'd like this server to see a request from domain 1, and serve content relevant to domain 1 (which is essentially a category of topical information -- the rest of the structure would be the same). I'd like folks not to get redirected away from that domain if possible.I'm thinking I should map each domain to a specific static IP, have all connections through those IPs connect to the central site, and return relevant data that way.What experiences have folks had doing this with the .NET stack, and are there any "best practices" to consider in this case?This might not be as clear as it could be; I'll aim to revise as I get questions.

Merging huge CSS files is huge pain,
I tried some of the tools but they end up merging line by line rather than on the basis or CSS rules.
Now i thought i should right one good program to do following,
1. read CSS file convert in XML
2. sort it on the basis of CSS rule
Now write one more program to consume 3 XML files find different classes and merge the files nicely based on CSS rules.
How ever that turned out to be good amount of work and i hope there must be someone who must have faced this problem before me and solved it clean way.
I would to know the tool for this however i would also love to know how to design/code for this kind of tool? Am i thinking on right track ?
I have too many lines in my code behind file. Now it grows up to almost 3500 lines. I wonder if it can be splitted into several files.
To be specify, say I have CustomerEdit.aspx and code behind as CustomerEdit.aspx.cs. In my code behind, most of them are functions taking care of UI (i.e. protected void ... _Click() or protected void ... _SelectedIndexChanged()). I have some private functions, but they usually refer to some UI elements.
Question: Can I safely seperate CustomerEdit.aspx.cs into smaller files like CustomerEdit01.aspx.cs, CustomerEdit02.aspx.cs, etc?

I have a File Upload Control, so i click the 'Browse' button and when i select a file from the select file dialog, i want the file to be shown as a link below the File Upload Control( somewhat similar to gmail). This file should be seen such a way that it can be deleted, if i wanted to. And also i should be able to upload another file from the File Upload control.All these files should be uploaded to a location when i use a button click event in the end.

I'm working in ASP.NET 4.0 with C# in the code behind.
For our application we provide users with file downloads that utilize handlers to serve the files. Currently, the way it is served to the user is through window.location. When using this, at times, it causes issues under IE8. When an error occurs, it cannot be caught under the page that called it.
A) Is there a way to serve an ashx file handler to the user where the page that called it can catch any exceptions made from thje handler
B) What is the correct way to serve the handler, eg. window.open, window.location, etc. Would return false at the end of the javascript solve this? Are there any other ways

i am making a small billing application in c# and .net
everything is done, but the only issue is:

Here is the main concept -
>when biller start making a bill -> he can simply add all basic details etc. but at the time of products addition to bill -> he will need to add multiple bill --> In this case we want the following workflow implementation:-
2 rows will be shown to biller at a time, and there will be a "Add more Rows" button under 2 rows..when biller click it, it creates new row for adding more products, (firstly this will go on.. as much as product require biller can add no. of rows based on his requirement).
secondly:when this data goes to database, the bill and details will be saved to database and so biller can use that bill in further for reprinting or record purpose (list invoice you can say). Now here i have created a logic but we are unable to get it to work..
The logic i am looking for is:-There will be a unique ID with each bill generated, and we can use this Unique_ID as reference ID (foreign key concept) , and make a table "Billed_items" and store all products billed within the Unique_ID of that particular invoice..
So in this way, when user List invoice or further print or any related function is used to view or edit even.. The biller can see all the items billed with that Invoice id as its being fetched from database using the reference_ID and other details from main Sales table.

the validate(this) is a function that validates file types on client.When validation succeeds then the link to add more file inputs is enabled. Could someone throw somelight on this.

View 1 RepliesI creating a page where our clients can view advertising images and then able to download the images in different file formats. So I need the images and the different download types all saved into the same row in the database so that when I go to display them on the page when they select a picture the right download links will be there. So here where my problem comes in, I don't know how to code it so that I can insert mulitiple file paths into the database at once. The images are saved in a table called images. The downloads are saved in a table called Image Downloads.
Here is the code for the page I have it coded to submit the images to the database but not sure how to add the rest. I have got three different sql datasources for each table not sure if that's the way to go.
