AJAX :: Execute Server Code After Button Clicked In Modal Popup

Aug 7, 2010

I'm not sure if this is an easy issue to solve, but I can't seem to figure it out. I have a ModalPopupExtender (obviously) for a panel that contains a two labels, two textboxes, and two buttons (Ok and Cancel). What I would like to do is when the Ok button is clicked, the page post back and the server click event execute (along with normal page events). When I try adding "__doPostBack("ModalOk", "");" as the OnOkScript, the page posts back, but the click event doesn't execute. (the click event is Protected Sub ModalOk_Click(blah blah) Handles ModalOk.Click).

The only way I got it to work (which is fine with me, I just thought I'd ask why it isn't working normally) is by checking to see if the Request.Form("__EVENTTARGET") is equal to "ModalOk". If it is, then I call the ModalOk_Click() sub. Like I said, this is fine with me, but it should be able to be avoided. If the __EVENTTARGET is equal to "ModalOk", then the "Handles ModalOk.Click" event should automatically be called, shouldn't it? Following with the general problem here, how does the server determine which events (other than the page events) to execute (or at least which button.click event)? I understand that the __EVENTTARGET supplies what causes the postback, but if a button is clicked then __EVENTTARGET is not set. So then does the page check the Request.Form for a button? Or is it more complex/simple than what I'm asking?

Web Forms :: No OnClick - Events On Any Button / ImageButtons On Any Page Runs Any Code

Sep 22, 2010

I Simply drag a button from the toolbar onto a new page with a master page and a title, double click it so that I enter the Button1_Click function and sets a breakpoint and add some random code. The breakpoint nor the code never fires. I've tried this on several different pages and controllers, but with the same results: The page reloads, but no code is run. I Have Tried:

Ive tried with three different webbrowsers with all plugins disabled. I've tried to turn of Causes Validation, - Nothing changes. I've tried to clean and Rebuild the project, - Still nothing. I've tried to create a whole new project, -Does'nt work there either. Other Information: A RadioButtonList OnDatabound Event works, but whenever i try to do a Button or ImageButton click event the code for the event never fires. Ive programmed several webapplications in other versions of visual studio and ASP.NET but I have never encountered this problem before.

Breakpoints work in other parts of the code and the compile settings is set to DEBUG.

* Visual Studio 2010
* ASP.NET 4
* MVC 2.

Am I supposed to file a bug report or does anyone out there have a solution?

Checking A Radio Button With JQuery When Radio Button Is Runat="server"?

Aug 10, 2010

Using jQuery I want to be able to click an element which will also checks it's related radio button. I had this working fine until we had to add runat="server" to the radio buttons.When I apply this it prevents my jQuery function from working how to get round it, heres a simplified version of the code:HTML

<input type="radio" runat="server" id="sector1Radio" name="SectorGroup" title="Sector1" />

jQuery

$('#SomethingElse').click(function() {
$('input[title=Sector1]').attr('checked','checked');
});

I've found out that when its converted to a .net control instead of checked="checked" (as it would be usually) it is just Checked, so I changed that but on inspecting the DOM in multiple browsers, none of my radio buttons are being checked(Are there any other ways I can use jQuery to check a radio button that has runat="server"?

To Write Custom Code That Runs On Server Start?

Mar 3, 2011

I need to declare an instance of a custom class and add it to the Application collection as soon as our ASP.NET site starts on the server.

So far, we have it doing it on the first page load of a master page, but that can take a few seconds because this class is a little intensive, so the first user is required to wait a couple seconds while the web server completes its task.So where do I need to go to do this?

Web Forms :: Updating Radio Button From Code Behind C#

Jan 31, 2010

I have a group of two radio buttons and I would like to set the state of them in my code-behind page. I can do this quite simply by setting the checked state of each (e.g. RadioButton1.Checked = true; adioButton2.Checked=false;) The problem I'm having is that the state of the buttons on the screen is not updated until I navigate away from the page the buttons are on then return to the button page. Question: how can I make the button checked appearance change from the code on the server?

How Can Call The PHP File From The Code Behind Page After A Button Is Clicked

Mar 11, 2010

I have a script written in PHP that does a number of things. I do not want to have to rewrite this in ASP.NET. I wanted to know if anyone knew how I can just call the PHP file from the code behind page after a button is clicked.
I cannot use javascript because things need to be added to the database and need to be successful in the function before I can call this php file. I do not need any of the php code to show up, I just need the php file to run and I need to add a parameter to the end of the URL.

Web Forms :: Assigning Selected Item Of Radio Button List In Code Behind?

Mar 3, 2010

Since setting item.selected to true will lose the mutual behavior and setting list.SelectedValue (readonly) doesn't get any button selected.

I am using list.SelectedIndex to assign the selected button. as follow :

//step 1. find the item by value
ListItem item = list.items.FindByValue(obj.ToString());
//step 2. find the item index
list.SelectedIndex = list.Items.IndexOf(item);

I make it into an extension method. But feel stupid about this procedure to simply just assign a selected value. does anyone have a better approach?

Web Forms :: Clicking Radio Button In Web Control Causes All Other Web Control Radio Buttons To Fire Postback?

Feb 8, 2010

I have a web application that shows a page containing between 6 and 20 AJAX UpdatePanels, contained with Custom Web (.ascx) Controls.

You can see an example of such a page here:

[URL]

The problem I'm getting is that when the user FIRST clicks any of the radio-buttons on any of the controls in the page, ALL the radio buttons that have an active selection ALSO fire an rb_CheckChanged event (see application log below). On subsequent radio-button
clicks, only that RB fires the event (as expected).

This behaviour is having a dramatic impact on performance. The page loads quickly, and a "normal" RB click provides an AJAX update correctly within 1 second. The problematic first RB click, however, takes up to SIX seconds to process, which is unacceptable from a user experience standpoint.

Developed in VS.NET 2008, ASP.NET 3.5. Also I converted the "Web Site" solution to a "Web Application" (pre-compiled) and got the same performance (still too slow). Release builds run only marginally faster than debug builds.

Why would a single RB selection change cause all RB's that have a "selection" set on them to also fire? (The "selection" is determined through database settings every time the control is populated, which is called from within the parent page control's Page_Load function. This selection is determined also at first page load, since all the controls get populated then, so why would the clicking of an RB cause them all to fire an event, and only once? That's what I don't get...)

Not sure if this is an AJAX issue, or general ASP.NET UI issue, so I'm posting in two forums on this one.

C# - Pass Model Values As Javascript Function Parameters From Inside Mvc Html Helper Such A Html.Radio?

Jul 20, 2010

I think I need to drop in some escape characters, but I'm not quite sure where. Here is the javascript function I'm attempting to call:

function setData(associateValue, reviewDateValue) {
var associate = document.getElementById("Associate");
var reviewDate = document.getElementById("ReviewDate");
associate.value = associateValue;
reviewDate.value = reviewDateValue;
}

Here is the asp .net mvc line where I'm attempting to create a Radio button with a click event that calls the above function and passes data from the model as javascript parameter values.

<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('<%=item.Associate%>','<%=item.ReviewDate%>' )" } )%>

The above throws a bunch of compile issues and doesn't work. A call such as the following does call the javascript, but doesn't get the data from the model.

<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('item.Associate','item.ReviewDate' )" } )%>
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('item.Associate','item.ReviewDate' )" } )%>
<% String functionCall = String.Format("setData('{0}','{1}')", Html.Encode(item.Associate), Html.Encode(item.ReviewDate )) ; %>
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick=functionCall } )%>
