I have added a button and when it is click it works sometimes and sometimes not. It seems that if you click in the middle it is more likely to work but this is still a bit hit and miss.Is there a way to make sure if the user clicks anywhere in the button the click event is evoked.
View 9 RepliesI have a page with multiple textboxes and each has a button associated with it. This works as a search 'hub', I suppose, where the user can search by ID, name etc. When entering a search term for e.g. name however, pressing enter 'clicks' the very first button on the page (ID search), causing an error if the associated textbox is empty (which it would be if someone meant to search by name). I have attempted to rectify this using JQuery, and have written the following:
$('input:text').click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
$(this).next('input:button').focus();
});
I'm simply using the click event so that I can monitor where focus is redirected, but eventually I would use .keypress. However, nothing happens upon clicking a textbox and I can't see for the life of me what is wrong with the JQuery. To elaborate on the problem, the .NET code used looks similar to the following throughout the page.
<tr>
<td style="width:100">Company ID</td>
<td style="margin-left:3px;">
<asp:TextBox ID="...TextBox" runat="server" Width="230px"></asp:TextBox>
</td>
<td>
<asp:Button CssClass="Button" ID="...NameSearch" Text="Search" runat="server" /></td></tr>
This is generating this (view source):
<td><input name="...TextBox" id="...TextBox" style="width: 230px;" type="text"/></td>
<td><input name="...NameSearch" class="Button" id="...NameSearch" onclick="javascript:__doPostBack('...NameSearch','')" type="button" value="Search"/></td>
I have a User Control that I Made it as Login Control.
and I put the User Control in MasterPage.
and I have a ImageButton for rss in master page.
when user fill username and password textboxes and Press Enter on keyboard the rss page appear instead.
how can i set focus to Login Button in User Control?
This is likely a n00b question, but I can't seem to find any info on how to solve it. Here's the scenario:
I have a Textbox and a RadioButtonList in an UpdatePanel, both with AutoPostBack turned on (they need to be, can't turn it off on the text box))
The user enters some text in to the textbox, then clicks one of the Items in the radio button list.
Because the textbox post back is executing, the radio button is losing the value that the user selected.
How can I workaround this?
In asp.net mvc when validation fails error message is disaplayed on same view, values entered by user are lost . Also all the drop down list items needs to be passed again in the viewData. Selected values in the drop down list again reset. How to display same view again with failed validation message.

View 8 RepliesI created a web part called 'staff phone search'. There are two controls 'Button' and 'Textbox' in it. The web part is inherited from Webcontrols webpart class not from sharepoint web part.My problem is that if I fill the search keyword text box and click the button, the text box and the button disappear. However the webpart displays result properly. Subsequently I am not able to search again because the web part never shows the controls again. How can I keep the controls after the webpart is submitted?

i am using vs2008. 1/ i am placed a datagrid control, a textbox and a server side button are inside the CollapsiblePanelExtender.
2/ The collapsible panel Extender placed inside the updatepanel.
3/ outside of updatepanel i have another button("next page") to redirect to next page.
When the page is loading, i am displaying all the records in datagrid. For an example 100 rocords. if i entered some values in textbox and click the button it fetches searching result based on inputs and displaying it in datagrid (for example searched result 20).
Now, I click the button "next page" it redirect to next page. if the user click the browser back button, i need to keep the datagrid to show only searched result. but Instead of that, it displaying all the records(100 records). how to resolve this?
Using jQuery I want to be able to click an element which will also checks it's related radio button. I had this working fine until we had to add runat="server" to the radio buttons.When I apply this it prevents my jQuery function from working how to get round it, heres a simplified version of the code:HTML
<input type="radio" runat="server" id="sector1Radio" name="SectorGroup" title="Sector1" />
jQuery
$('#SomethingElse').click(function() {
$('input[title=Sector1]').attr('checked','checked');
});
I've found out that when its converted to a .net control instead of checked="checked" (as it would be usually) it is just Checked, so I changed that but on inspecting the DOM in multiple browsers, none of my radio buttons are being checked(Are there any other ways I can use jQuery to check a radio button that has runat="server"?
I have the following code<asp:RadioButton runat="server" Text="Male"></asp:RadioButton>I want a gap between the radio button and the radio button text, I made the following changes in the text field(prefixed a space) Text=" Male". However, I don't feel this is the most efficient way.

View 8 RepliesI have a gridview with edit button. I want to set focus on a textbox in a row when clicking "Edit" button. (it is a label before clicking edit, it become a textbox after clicking edit). However, i can't set it focus in Rowdatabound. By the way, I make a simple .aspx page and just put a textbox on the tabcontainer tab panel. I found that i totally cannot set focus on this text box.
Here is aspx page with a text box, the .aspx page code is below:

I have a web application that shows a page containing between 6 and 20 AJAX UpdatePanels, contained with Custom Web (.ascx) Controls.
You can see an example of such a page here:

The problem I'm getting is that when the user FIRST clicks any of the radio-buttons on any of the controls in the page, ALL the radio buttons that have an active selection ALSO fire an rb_CheckChanged event (see application log below). On subsequent radio-button
clicks, only that RB fires the event (as expected).
This behaviour is having a dramatic impact on performance. The page loads quickly, and a "normal" RB click provides an AJAX update correctly within 1 second. The problematic first RB click, however, takes up to SIX seconds to process, which is unacceptable from a user experience standpoint.
Developed in VS.NET 2008, ASP.NET 3.5. Also I converted the "Web Site" solution to a "Web Application" (pre-compiled) and got the same performance (still too slow). Release builds run only marginally faster than debug builds.
Why would a single RB selection change cause all RB's that have a "selection" set on them to also fire? (The "selection" is determined through database settings every time the control is populated, which is called from within the parent page control's Page_Load function. This selection is determined also at first page load, since all the controls get populated then, so why would the clicking of an RB cause them all to fire an event, and only once? That's what I don't get...)
Not sure if this is an AJAX issue, or general ASP.NET UI issue, so I'm posting in two forums on this one.
I have a .aspx page that can be called from two other pages in the same project. There is a "Back" button on that page. When the user clicks on the back button, how do I know to which page (called from page 1 or page 2) I should go back?

View 8 RepliesI am calling a javascript for a textbox when a key is pressed to check for the Enter key. It works for all other keys though. The problem is I have buttons on the page also and the first button is taking the Enter as a click. If I disable the buttons, it works with the Enter key but I need the buttons there.
Is there any way I can keep the buttons from accepting the Enter key in a textbox as a Click?
This is what I set in the Page_Load which works well. And the script is called.
Code:
Text1.Attributes.Add("onkeydown", "check_key(event)")
I would like to know whether it is possbile to have a script that allow user to focus one from textbox to another textbox by onkeypress event.
