Sep 28, 2010I use a ntext data type for all kind of data save in one field, but when i save byte (that converted from image) follwing message is shown "Operand type clash: varbinary(max) is incompatible with ntext". One is addTime, another is editTime, and the final one is subTime. depending on which part of the web application the user uses, it will update one of these fields. I know in a sql command in the code behind you can use the getDate() function to populate a value, but will the sql command automatically parse it to the SmallDateTime datatype in the database?

Feb 1, 2011There are 2 tables in sql server 2008. I am updating 2nd table with 1st table data. one of the column data type in the 1st table is char(10) and the same field in other table is varchar(10).
On updation I m using bcp utility to export to txt file from table 2.
But data exported is exported with spaces at the end.
Is there any way to remove these spaces.

However, when I try to build the control I'm getting the error as shown in the subject. I've tried searching, and it seems the signature for the original function matches the one I have, and all other solutions I've seen uses the same signature.

Sep 20, 2010I have a table in my SQL Server db with fields of money datatype. It seems as though SQL Server likes to have 4 decimal places for the money datatype, but is there any way in the settings of this table or that money field to change this to 2? I know how to programmitically trim the last two zeros, if I can manually set something so I don't have to do this every time I retrieve the money datatypes from the database table.

Aug 9, 2010I have a column in SQL Server 2008 called MapLocation which is stored as the geography data type. This column is used to store the location of a building in one table, and the location of landmarks in another table. I have to list all landmarks within 4 miles of a building.
I have a clustered primary key on an automatically generated int column in each table. I assume that I need to create a spatial index on the MapLocation column in the landmarks table. This I guess would aid finding all landmarks within 4 miles.
My problem is that I am not sure what settings to use for this spatial index. I have set the spatial index to have the following settings:
Cells per object: 16 Level 1: Medium Level 2: Medium Level 3: Medium Level 4: Medium Tessalation Scheme: Geography gridAre these the best settings? Am I doing the right thing?

Oct 17, 2010When the Stored procedure is executed through SQL Server Management Studio, its taking 23 seconds,When the same Stored proc is called through web app, its throwing below copied exception. It is noticed that when the data is more than 100k records this exception is thrown other wise expected records are shown in UI. Another stored proc from the same app returns over 150k records without any excetpion. Can't conclude that the exception is in Stored proc, because it works from SQL Server Management studio, but throws below exception from Web app.

Forms Data Controls :: Conversion From Type 'TextBox' To Type 'String' Is Not Valid?
Sep 6, 2010I have a FormView that allows a user to register for a company event. I want to do a couple of things with this form.
1. I need to write this data to a MS SQL database
2. I need to send an email confirmation of their registration to their email.
I know how to do both of these things, but i am having trouble doing both at the same time.
It would be nice if I could do it in one click, but I coded it into two pages to try to help simplify it.
The first page allows the user to input their information into a formview and when they click the submit button, it places those answers into session variables:

The Second page confirms the users information by taking those session variables and placing them into labels:

However, after I place information into the formview on the first page, it throws up this error:
"Conversion from type 'TextBox' to type 'String' is not valid".
