SQL Server :: Table Structure - SizeId And ColorId Can Be Null In Db?

Oct 29, 2010

I have this table structure, and I can pull ot all I want like product details, color, size and so on. Now I want it to work like this. When I select a color only sizes avalible in that color should be returned from the database, and same thing when I select a size only colors avalible for that size should be returned. NOw it works like price and quantity sets to zero, but it should have been better if it was impossible to choose a combination that don't exists.

Then I have one more. SizeId and ColorId can be null in db. That is not good when I try to receive those rows.

SQL Server :: Inserting Null Value Into Foreign Key Table With Allow Null Enabled?

Oct 2, 2010

I have 2 table Table A, Table B.

Table A - Parent Table

ID - Uniqueidentifier not null(PK)

Table B -Child Table

ID - uniqueidentifier null(FK, TableA)

I have a stored procedure to insert data into Table B, but when I tried to insert a null value into column ID of table B, this error came up:

The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_tableB_tableA". The conflict occurred in database "database name", table "table A", column 'ID'.

The statement has been terminated.

The insert statement in asp.net is like so:

sqlcommand.parameter.add(New Sqlparameter("ID", Nothing))

I am guessing adding nothing to the null value column is the problem, but i don't know how to fix it... The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_tableB_tableA". The conflict occurred in database "database name", table "table A", column 'ID'.

SQL Server :: Relationship Which Allows NULL Entry / Error 'FK_Table_Contracts_Table2_PONo' On Table 'Table_Contracts'?

Nov 29, 2010

I have two tables as below.

I tried to establish a relation between two tables in such a way that Table_Contracts will still accept NULL values for [PO_No], but [PO_No] on TableContract will be automatically updated when [PO_No] on Table2_PONo changed. Moreover, if you want to delete a record on Table2_PONo, it needs to be stopped if there is a related data in Table_Contracts.

I set a relation with these parameters:

Check existing data on creation or re-enabling>
No

Enforce for replication>
No

Enforce foreign key constraint>
No

Delete Rule>
No Action

Update Rule>

I got this error

Visual Studio :: How To Print A Table Structure

Jun 9, 2010

using VWDExpress2010, is there a way to print the table definition for an SQL table that has been created within the designer? I would like to begin using SQL databases for more of my projects but find the difficulty in working with the tables (compared to other options) to be such a pain that I usually choose some of the other formats. Typical problems are simply documenting the structure, moving data in and out with some form of command line feature, etc.

Restoring Dynamically Created Javascript Table Structure

Feb 9, 2011

On runtime I am creating table structure using javascript and appending it to the div which is placed in an update panel. Problem here is, when I use asp.net button control, onClick of the button it posts the page to server and whatever javascript tables I have created it goes off. When I use html input button (input type="button") I don't face this problem and tables also stay there. But I have to use asp.net button to take necessary actions on the server side. Is there any way that I can restore the structure or use asp.net button control alongwith dynamic javascript.

Creating A TreeView Nested Structure Using Self Referencing Table?

Jun 4, 2010

I am trying to create a TreeView nested structure with the use of self referencing table fields. Here is a simple example:

Category 1
Product 1
Toy 1
Toy 2
Product 2
Toy 3
Toy 4

more categories.. The database table has a single table called "Category". The ParentCategoryId points to the Category which is the parent. So, for the Category 1 the ParentCategoryId is null since it is parent. For Product 1 the ParentCategoryId is that of the Category 1 id and for Toy 1 the ParentCategoryId is that for the Product 1 id.

I am using the following code but it does not generate the TreeView (ASP.NET) successfully.

public void BuildTree(List<Category> categories, TreeNode treeNode)
{
if (treeNode == null) return;[code].....

Web Forms :: How To Store Data In Database / Without Changing Table Structure

May 28, 2010

In my form there are about 6 parameters and two of them have multiple values, upto 6. I'm imposed by the restrictions that I can't change the table structure. The table have 8 fields one for ID as primary key, one for foreign key and other to store data. The two fields which have multiple values are color and size. A size may have different colors and vice versa.

The programmer which have developed the site earlier used a stored procedure to store the data in database. And he implemented the above scenario one by one for each color/size. Now I have to put all in one.

How can I do this. As I can't change the table structure at current moment as this will disturb the whole E-commerce site.

SQL Server :: Cannot Insert The Value NULL Into Column ReviewDate - Table "ProrsumDB.dbo.Review"

Oct 11, 2010

I've been working on this project which requires me to insert data into a database. Due to the complexities of the function that I am doing, it is more complex to use SqlDataSource and hence I've used the traditional method of inserting to the database. The codes are as follows:

[Code]....

I am not too sure why, but even though I've debugged numerous times and the data gets inserted into the database through the form view, I get this error on the page after everything is executed: Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'reviewDate', table 'ProrsumDB.dbo.Review'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated. reviewDate wasn't null when I tried and there are no exception thrown.

Send Json Structure To Server And Return File?

Jul 2, 2010

I'm having a very hard time wrapping my head around this problem (it might be the heat from the summer finally arriving).

Problem:

I want the user to press a button client side which performs javascript data preparing and at last send a JSON structure to (currently a asmx webservice on) the server. The JSON structure is several levels deep.

Server side I create a PDF file which I want to send back to the user.

Goal:
The user feeling is that she presses a button and expects a PDF to return to her - either in a new window or as a download (preferrable).

Tools:
The system consists of (client side) HTML, JavaScript and ExtJS and (server side) ASP.NET.

Normally I would use an ashx handler to return a file to the client, but can I send a JSON structure to the handler and still be able to parse it correctly server side?

I am searching for the pattern to use.

AJAX :: Dynamically Built Accordion Controls / Keeping Only The Basic Empty Structure, And Re-build It All In A Single Post To The Server?

Apr 27, 2010

I have a dialogue window that contains an Accordion Control that is dynamically built. The only thing that appears on my source page is the opening and closing tags for the control. The panes and the controls that appear on the panes are all added dynamically based on records in a database.

Now here is my situation, if a certian action is performed on one of the controls then I want to save that controls data and make it no longer available for use, this was easily accomplished by having the control hide itself. An issue arises though when I have hidden all of the controls on a certain pane, the header for the pane still exists and this is not the desired result.

What I would like is to be able to dynamically remove the entire contents of the control and then re-build it. Due to the timing of the events in the page post back sequence, a simple call to the method that builds the control will not work and if an explanation is required I will provide one. Also, looping through all of the panes and the controls on each pane will not work since after the first pass through the loop the panes collection is mutated, the enum table for the control is no longer correct since the initial pane has been removed, as a result the for loop throws an error.

Can any one come up with a way that I can clear out the control, keeping only the basic empty structure, and re-build it all in a single post to the server?

Web Forms :: How To Import Exsisting SQL Server Table To Access Table(new Table)

Dec 10, 2010

my main intention is that, the exsisting table of sql server database(.dbo) with 1000's of records, that should be import to a new access database table(.mdb).for example if we want to had a new table in db2, of exsisting table in db1 with some conditions by using "select * into New_Tabel from (select * from Exsisting_Table where <Condition>) as objectName". Here the new table is created and records inserted in one execution in db2. The same work should be done for access(sqlserver db --> Access db). Here the new access database table with given name (as string_sysdate) must be created dynamically by clicking a button (multiples time creating new table). Is there any query or c# code for sql server database to access database.
