No Link Showing In Email?

Dec 22, 2014

I am trying to test emails using the local PickupDirectory. The code seems to work only in that an email is send to the local directory, but it appears like this: [URL] ....

Where it says 'Please click....here..', the 'here' should be a link.

This is the code I have:

Code:
Protected Sub SendPost_Click(ByVal sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles SendPost.Click
Dim SMTPMail As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage()
Dim sbody As New StringBuilder()
sbody.Append("Please click <a href='http://usingasp.net/reset_pwd.aspx'>here</a> to reset your password")

[Code] ....

How can I rectify that?

C# - Admins Have To Reload Page To See Features?

Jul 27, 2010

I am creating a custom cookie and have overloaded the Iprincipal class and all that good stuff. My cookie works correctly and I am able to retrieve the roles of the users successfully, but the admins have to reload the default page after just logging in to see the admin only button. Once they visit a new page on my site and return to the default page, the button is there.

I read somewhere that the cookie is created last and has something to do with a response to the HTTP. TBH, I am new to this stuff and don't understand exactly how that works, but I see how it effects my program. I am currently creating and planting my cookie in the page load of my default page. Should I be doing it somewhere else, perhaps in the log-in page? I tried that, but the same issue still exists. Am I missing something?

C# - How To Create A Module To Allow Only Admins To Access The Website

Aug 26, 2010

Sometimes I need to block access on a website, but I don't want to block access for administrators so they should be able to see the website and for that I guess I need to make a module.

How can I make a module like that?

This is the code I have. I just don't know where I should place it.

var user = Membership.GetUser() as User;

if (user == null || (user != null && !user.IsAdministrator))
{
// Block
}

Architecture :: Class Design - Application Allows Admins To Add Types Such As Document Types?

Oct 12, 2010

I have an application that allows admins to add types such as document types and training types that are in seperate tables with a foreign key in a transaction table.

When structuring my class I decided to go with an abstract-like pattern (without the factory methods though). So I have a Type abstract class that defines my Save, Delete, and GetList methods. I have a training type class that inherits this class. The thing is all types have 3 main properties - defined in the abstract base - but have different source tables and thus different store procedures in my DbCommand object. So basically I repeat setting up the same parameters on all the derived classes. I would like to implement the common stuff in the base but I am getting thrown off by the difference in data sources.

Security :: Showing An User's Roles?

May 8, 2010

I'm trying to show a user's roles in a label but here's what I get when I view the page in the browser:

[IMG]http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac76/scoobymadterry/teamadminpage.jpg[/IMG]

As you can see instead of the roles, System.String[] shows in the label. How can I get the roles instead of that?

Security :: Controls Not Showing In Code View When Using Roleviews?

Aug 7, 2010

I have a form with some textboxes. The textboxes are showing using a login view and roleview. This is my source for the html side.

[Code]....

Problem being that none of the text boxes are not showing up in the code view so I can actually use them for anything. What the heck is up with that. They are not in the drop downs either. it just says it is not declared. I am guessing it is because of the login view or role view?

Security :: Windows Auth - Still Showing Login Prompt In IE?

Sep 17, 2010

I'm trying to setup my IIS 7.0 MVC2 site but having problems.I want to use Integrated Security so that the app can obtain the user's credentials. We can then do a look-up of some AD groups to determine what they can do from that point onwards.The problem is - Every time we browse to the application, instead of navigating to our main page immediately, we get a login prompt provided by IE. I've read that we need to make sure that in the browser's Tools->Options->Advanced-> (Securiy-> ENable Windows Intagrated Security) must be checked - which it is on ALL 3 machines where I try this.

The machines AND the server are all in the same domain.My config file states <authentication mode="Windows" /> and I've tried every combination for <identity...> and <authorization...> but to no avail. I can only get the "login" prompt to go away if I enable Anonymous Authentication - but then I can't detect the windows user or their group membership.

I have an empty CreatingUser method, and in CreatedUser I perform a couple of table entries with the new user.

When I try to add a user with an email that's already in use, I get a the default success message. But no user is added, and

it doesn't reach the CreatedUser method.

Security :: Link Membership DB To Application's DB?

Sep 12, 2010

I'm trying to convert an ASP application to a .NET one. In the old ASP application methodology we have a "users" database with all our users and is indexed by an auto-increment integer which is used across our database (~25-30 tables) relationally. I'm recreating the tables from scratch, so no need to worry about merging data. Let's assume we just have a large relational database that we want to connect to the .NET security model.

Now - with .NET, there is the concept of members and roles being handled for you. I took a look at the aspnet_Users table and it shows a GUID for members I created using the ASP.NET Configuration tool.
Basically I need advice on how to link the ASP.NET user's login to my custom database. Any tutorials/links are welcome, I'm not afraid of reading!

It would be great for the Context.User.Identity.Name to store the auto-increment integer PK as well because that could be used in all of my SQL queries to grab information for given users.

p.s. I'm trying to write it as an MVC2 application with a lot of Linq to SQL to keep it all strongly typed and awesome.

Security :: Can't Find A Link About Grant Permission Programmatically

Oct 11, 2010

two weeks ago I read a MSDN(?) article how to grant/revoke permission for some users/roles/groups on a specific page or holder temporarily or with condion. The article shows how to do it Form_Load() in c#. But I can't find the link with googling or in MSDN library.

Please let me know if you know the url?

What I want to do is:

There is a folder called employeePDFs.

The folder will have 1000s employees' sub folder ({lastname}{firstname}{employeeID}). Each folder will have very personal indivual PDF files which are manually uploaded.

If an employee logs on, then the logon employee can view a page which has a list of PDF files in his own folder only.

Those PDF files can be assessed only by the user.

Security :: Link Aspnet_users To Table With UserID As Foreign Key?

Aug 10, 2010

Perhaps this is a simpler VS9 question, but I want to link a SQLServer table with additional user data to the standard SQLServer membership table using the GUID userID as a foreign key. I go into design mode of my table, right-click on relationships, and click add in the dialog. but the left hand column shows me only the tables in my database. How do I get it to show the tables in the ASPNETDB.MDF database? I went through the tutorial (http://www.asp.net/learn/security/tutorial-08-cs.aspx), but it seems to magically appear in there without explanation.
