View 3 RepliesI have this code in my view page.
<td>
Mandate Name:
</td>
<td>
<%= Html.TextBox("MandateName")%>
</td>
I wrote MVC2 Validation for this name.
something like this.
//[Validator(typeof(MandateValidator))]
[MetadataType(typeof(Mandate_Metadata))]
public partial class Mandate {
public class Mandate_Metadata
{.........
I am using MVC 2 with Entity Framework 4 models and MetadataType classes to create annotations that do not vanish everytime my model is generated... I followed Scott's article to create that.It worked fine for simple classes, but when I got to a more complex one, with regular expression and range validations on doubles, it seemed to simply ignore the validation annotations altogether.
View 5 Replieslink to Implement ASP.net mVC2 validation for my dropdown list boxes in my view?My Dropdown listbox in my view is something like this
<%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.SelectedStudent, new SelectList(Model.StudentIDs, "ID", "Name"),"Please select..", new { id="Student", style = "width:190px;" })%>
[code]...
I am trying to make some sense of this validation stuff in MVC2. I followed various walkthroughs, all them for betas/rcs... and I cant' get anythign to happen. Note: THIS JQUERY - NOT THE MS AJAX STUFF!I have referenced MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js which i got got the mvc2 futures lib.
My model is:
[Code]....
The form bit of my ViewPage<User>:
[Code]....
As far as I can see the only additional thing that is being rendered is this:
[Code]....
Which is interesting/annoying for a few reasons. Firstly all of my annotations appear to have been ignored.Secondly FormId isn't even marked as required, and as this rendered text was taken from a page loaded with a null Model (add mode) the FormId field isn't in the form. Finally, this doesn't even result in any actual validation occuring (on the client side). All the server side validation is working fine.See I am using PasswordFor instead of EditorFor. Because someone at MS testing dropped the ball there. Yes EditorFor renders a password field, but it behaves differently to PasswordFor.. the value of the Password field is sent to the client (set in the value
attribute of the field). Fail.
I've got a custom Editor Template that is essentially:
<div id="control">
<%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.Day, Model.Days)%>
<%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.Month, Model.Months)%>
<%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.Year, Model.Years)%>
</div>
Whilst my validation is successful/fine with this control (ValidationMessageFor works) I have been unable to find how to highlight the control when validation fails (e.g. with a TextBoxFor the textbox border goes red if validation fails)
Does anyone know how I can add this behaviour with a custom editor template?
I'm attempting to write a unit tests for an ASP.NET MVC 2 post action that takes a view model as its sole parameter. The view model is decorated with validation attributes such as [Required]. I'd like to test two scenarios. The first scenario is when a valid set of data is passed in (ie, all required properties have values) and a redirect to the list page is returned. The second scenario involves passing in invalid data (eg, when one or more of the Required properties are not set). In this case the same view is returned with error messages.The action signature is as follows:
[HttpPost]
public virtual ActionResult Create(NewsViewModel model)
The NewsViewModel class is as follows:
public class NewsViewModel
{
public Guid Id { get; set; }
[code]...
I'm using an entity model with metadata annotations. My controller method looks like this...
if (!ModelState.IsValid)
{
return View(model);
}
else
{
UpdateModel(model);
repo.Save();
return RedirectToAction("Index");
}
If I enable client side validation in the view I'll get the error per the Attributes from the metadata class. If I take clientside validation out, error gets thrown from saving to the DB rather than return the view with an Error Summary.
This is the top portion of my view....
<% using (Html.BeginForm())
{%>
<%: Html.ValidationSummary(true) %>
I've tried running without debugging (ctrl + f5) in debug and release mode as well as setting breakpoints and Debugging (f5) but it just seems weird to get Client side validation without server side validation. What am I missing here?
I am going to convert a web form web site to MVC 2.0, i m using mySQL Database.
Currently the web form web site is working perfectly.
In Web.config :
[Code]....
But, When i try to create a simple page by using the same DB connection in MVC, i get error message:
Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Keyword not supported: 'driver'.Line 17: public SqlProductsRepository(string connectionString)Line 18: {Line 19: productsTable = (new DataContext(connectionString)).GetTable<Product>();Line 20: }Line 21:
[Code]....
In Controller:
[Code]....
i did add mysql.data.dll & mysql.web.dll to Reference.
i also tried to change the DB configuration at web.config as following, but still not working:
[Code]....
Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Keyword not supported: 'userid'.
A web application works with the database. Once a day, the database should be scanned and alerts should be sent to users. From what I've seen out there, additional project has to be created which will be installed on the server and will work with the same database. Executable created by this project has to be installed in Windows scheduler to be activated once a day.This seems complicated and inefficient: starting additional executable and working on the same database.
View 1 RepliesI have a few validations with a validation summery. The client side validations shows up, after the user leaves the textbox for the validation. The server side validation shows never up. The Validation summery shows never up.
[Code]....
i have email address and confirm email address in my web application. i have following three validation controls in confirm email.
1.required
2.regular expression : for validating valid email address
3.compare validation :to compare both email and confirm email is same.
in the UI i am entering following values
email :myname@domain.com
confirm:mynamedomain.com
it shows two error message in confirm email address 1. email address is not match and 1. invalid email address, when i enter details as above.what ever it shows is correct only. but we need to show error message one by one. first it needs to validate format of email and then it needs to show email address not match.is there any way to achieve this.
The ValidationSummary panel shows up, even if the validator does not have an 'ErrorMessage'. When I click on Submit with invalid login, the error shows up in summary. That part's fine. When I submit with empty textboxes, it should show only the '*', but it also shows an empty summary panel. How can I prevent this. [Have a css class for .summary,header, summary ul, .summary ul li].
JS:
function validateTextBox(sender, args) {
var target = document.getElementById(sender.controltovalidate);
var is_valid = target.value != "";
[Code].....
I am using 4 required field validators,4 regular expression validators and 4 compare validators for 4 text boxes.Is it possible to show error messagesin an alert or message box when validation fails?If possible please send code sample.

I have web form in c# asp.net. I have an textbox where the user can enter some part number. When he click on the search button I would like to do some validation of the search text. It is not possible to use the following charachters (- _ / . spaces). When the custom validation found one of these characters I would like to show some error message (It is not possible to use one of these special characters: -, _, /, , . and spaces.). And than I would like to remove the special characters from the search text and execute a method to search.Can I do it with a custom validation like:
<asp:textbox id="TextBox1" runat="server"></asp:textbox><asp:CustomValidator id="CustomValidator1" runat="server" OnServerValidate="TextValidate" ControlToValidate="TextBox1" ErrorMessage="It is not possible to use one of these special characters: -, _, /, , . and spaces."></asp:CustomValidator>
protected void TextValidate(object source, ServerValidateEventArgs args){ args.IsValid = (args.Value.Contains(""); string newSearchValue = // remove the special characters -, _, /, , . and spaces. // Run the search method without the special character, but show a error message search(newSearchValue);}
How do I setup the ModalPopupExtender to not show when the validation on the page fails? I have a RequiredFieldValidator on a textbox. On Submit, I would like to show the ModalPopupExtender ONLY if validation is successful.
