is there any tools within VS2008 or Free 3rd Party tools where i can generate a Diagram of Class Methods and Code Behind events. think of the Table Diagram of SQL, it will show all fields, Primary Keys and to what table it is connected via foreign keys, etc. That is what i wish to make, in a much faster way, where it will show all class and within it is all the methods then linking them are the Code behinds and the event where the class is called.

I have a solution consisting of many projects. it's very hard to trace your way around to find the right class or method to change , which led me to try to create a diagram that can model the whole solution. Is there a tool in visual studio ( class diagram designer or rational rose ) or even a third party tool that can revers engineer the solution and generate a class diagram, including all the classrelations, compositions, hierarchies and etc.

I need to plan out a Class, Method, Attribute style diagram, I have looked at the Class Designer in Visual Studio, but it seems to not do what I want. I want to be able to have a diagram show the classes just like in Visual Studio - except I want to be able to represent the parameters these methods require, for example:
getStock(StockID)
And this be shown in the Diagram. This is for an ASP.NET website - what are the best ways of creating a diagram for a website like this to represent the methods - I don't want to start generating classes - which is why I want to use Visio, plus I am more familiar with Visio than the Visual Studio Class designer as I mostly use the Express line of products which don't feature this. I want this for example for Default.aspx:
Default.aspx
(View)
Methods:
- FeaturedStock()
- GetStock(StockID)
- ShowContent()
- ShowImage(StockID)
I don't want to use UML as this is too confusing - the Visual Studio Class diagram is close to what I want but I cannot get it to show the Parameters on my Methods. My main aim is to have "stubs" for each method a page requires to implement that functionality as a Developer this is the easiest way I can plan out this project.

I am developing a web application in which I am suddenly facing an issue. I have a webpage which contains many controls, one of the control is JQuery color picker. Now, I am upgrading my system with telerik controls. As part of this process, I replaced textbox(txtcolor) with radcolorpicker with a different id(colorPicker). Suddenly, my code behind file is not throwing any errors like 'unable to find txtColor'. It is running successfully without build errors. But, when I open the page, system is throwing runtime exception(txtColor not found) which is correct.
I tried to change other controls with asp.net controls, still the problem persists. So, I dont think it is anything to do with telerik.

I've always just used incremental search, but have recently starting using a class browser plugin for vim and would like something of the same in Visual Studio to navigate methods, properties, etc. in a browser type window. Seems like this is what Class View is for, but when I'm on a page's code behind, it doesn't show up on the class view window.
When I search for the class, it shows up but when I click on it I get "The definition of the object is hidden.". Is there some basic setup thing I'm doing wrong or does VS not support class view for page classes? Is there an extension that does this (I'm using VS2010)?

Opening an existing asp.net 3.5 project using VWD Express 2010, the database diagram file under Database Diagrams folder went missing in Database Explorer tab. Everything is in there when I first created the diagram using VWD Express 2008. However, when I look at the .dbml file, the associated relationship between dozens of tables exist and my project runs successfully. I'm planning to create another table with relationships from existing tables but seems like I have to painfully recreate them back from scratch. How can I recover those diagrams?

I've got an ASP.NET 4 web forms application I'm building in Studio 2010. The solution has two projects. A web forms application and a class library. I have added a reference to the class libraryr project in the web forms project, but when I go a code behind page in the web forms project, it does not recognize the class from the class library and throws the "type or namespace <class> could not be found ...." error. Adding a using <class library projec> does not work either as it does not recognize that.
What am I missing?

This is strange behavior that I've noticed with Visual Studio. I'm correcting some namespace and scope issues with in a project. When I start to address the issues with one of the files I start off with 12 errors. Then I open the file and the number of errors increase to 36. But then when the file is open and I build the project it says that there are only 12 errors. Why would it show that there are 36 errors initially when there are really only 12 when the solution is built?

I have an application that allows admins to add types such as document types and training types that are in seperate tables with a foreign key in a transaction table.
When structuring my class I decided to go with an abstract-like pattern (without the factory methods though). So I have a Type abstract class that defines my Save, Delete, and GetList methods. I have a training type class that inherits this class. The thing is all types have 3 main properties - defined in the abstract base - but have different source tables and thus different store procedures in my DbCommand object. So basically I repeat setting up the same parameters on all the derived classes. I would like to implement the common stuff in the base but I am getting thrown off by the difference in data sources.

Visual Studio 2008 shows a lot of erroneous errors when building a website (not a web project) in the errors list. These errors are usually corrected (removed) when I rebuild the site a couple times but they cost me wasted time.Is there anyway to hide the erroneous errors?
Update:
I've decided to look into this to see if I could reproduce it. This is the exact behavior I am seeing, using the website model, I type some invalid syntax on a page. The errors list fills up with errors. I correct the error and the errors list does not update. I build the project and the errors list still shows the errors but the build shows as build completed. I build the project a second time and the errors list is cleared.
My question is there anyway to make the errors list clear on the first build? I thought it might have something to do with page build vs website build but it seems to make no difference. I am not using any third party dlls on this website.

can Visual Studio 2008 be All-In-One tool to integrate source code continuously from team members, build, unit test?
Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.

A typical CSS property that I use often is overflow-x and overflow-y. Sometimes I use CSS 2.1 or later properties or selectors. These (correctly) raise a validation error: Validation (CSS 2.0): 'overflow-y' is not a known CSS property name. For years I ignored this, but it kinda feels wrong. It's possible to switch off warning in C# and other languages for a particular line, block, file or project. Is something similar possible for CSS (or HTML) errors or warnings? Instead of switching it all off, I prefer a more granular solution.

I noticed when creating a reference that two of the columns in the dialog box under the .Net tab have Version and Runtime.
I'm assuming that Version is the version of the .Net Framework that a given namespace was introduced with.
I'm not sure I understand what the runtime is though. I originally thought it was for the version of ASP.net but now I question that. If look at two namespaces that were introduced with two different Versions they can have the same run time. This contradicts my original conclusion.
how these relate to each other and correct any misunderstandings I my have with this?

After following the instructions in Scott Guthrie's blog for converting a web site to a web application project, I am getting many, many errors. Most are either 'Name <control> is not declared.' or 'Type <type> is not defined.' And most, but not all of these errors are in the same .vb page.
Does anyone know the best way to fix this?
