Web Forms :: Can't Download Access 2007 .accdb?
Oct 20, 2010
I have a web page with links to various files including an Access 2003 .mdb and an Access 2007 .accdb. Both are about 1 mb in size. Both are in the same directory. The hyperlink for both is coded the same except for the database name. Users are instructed to right click on the links and choose "Save Target As..." to download the application to their computer. Currently, users and myself can download the .mdb trouble free. The .accdb will not. The error message states that the site cannot be found or is unavailable. This happens with any .accdb I put in the directory.

I'm using Access 2007 for a project and I'm trying to run the following parameterized query:
string sql = "DELETE * FROM participants WHERE participant_id = @participant_id"
OleDbCommand command = DataAccess.NewCommand(sql);
command.Parameters.Add("participant_id", 1);
command.ExecuteNonQuery();
The really weird thing is that it will work if I hard code the value:
string sql = "DELETE * FROM participants WHERE participant_id = 1"

I'm working on a web app and need to stream various files. I can do pdfs, images, and older Office documents. However, when I try to do with 2007 documents, it breaks. Here is my code:
Response.Buffer = true;
Response.Clear();
Response.ClearContent();
Response.ClearHeaders();
switch (FileExtension.ToLower())
{
case "pdf":
Response.ContentType = "application/pdf";
break;
case "doc":
Response.ContentType = "application/msword";
break;
case "docx":
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-word.document.12";
break;
case "xls":
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel";
break;
case "xlsx":
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel.12";
break;
default:
Response.ContentType = "image/jpeg";
break;
}
Response.BinaryWrite(buffer);
The error that I get is:

I have a issue where I am trying to pull some records from an Access 2007 DB that has linked tables from a SQL 2005 Server. When I go to do this the browser IE8 just sits there and does nothing. THe little progress bar at the bottom moves about half way then that is it. It will sit there and show no errors or do anything. I have experience with connecting and manipulating Access and SQL server DB's but not through Access with linked tables from SQL Server. Here is test code below:
[Code]....
This does not produce an error or anything. The browser just sits there and sits there. Is there something I am missing?

I downloaded the latest version of Visual Web Developer Express. I created an Access (.accdb) database with a table and one record inside it. I dropped a grid view onto my page and selected 'Configure Data Source'. It only wants (.mdb). I have searched the web and discovered bits and peices of information but nothing really in depth that shows me how to fully utilize an (.accdb) Access Database with Visual Web Developer Express Edition. Can someone give me an explanation of how to set up my .aspx page for C#?

here's the code so far:
[Code]....
[Code]....
mov is a quicktime file, my server has the mimetype: video/quicktime .......... but as I read, this code forces the save as download box which is exactly what i want :) now, here's the catch, i the file I am fetching is NOT on the physical path... it is on a completely different server:Protected Sub LinkButton1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LinkButton1.Click
Response.Clear()
Response.ContentType = "x-msdownload"
Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", ("attachment; filename=mydownload.mov"))
Response.TransmitFile("http://myOTHERserver.com/files/mydownload.mov")
Response.End()
End Sub
Obviously this doesn't work since TransmitFile requires that the file be on your physical path, so how do i do this? Someone said you must use the stream method. Do you have any sample code I could try? I've tried the HTTPStreamReader object but it's giving me issues, so I would love to find out if there is anyway this might work. Now here's some more important information: this are HUGE video files.. we are creating a downloads page... written in asp.net -- so you create an account using the .net membership class, then you select the file you want, go through a form where you enter your billing info and then after you pay a certain fee (this is already implemented), you go to your "downlaods" area in your account... there you have access to the files......... the reason i'm doing this is because i want to hide the download link, which will be something likehttp://myOTHERserver.com/2340987sdfkjhalsdlkjh23 ... (something really crazy)....... we don't want people seeing this on the status bar (Therefore hiding the download link is ESSENTIAL)........ the files are a good 500MB each approximately; so i would love to hear all of your suggestions as to making the streamreader work for me and how long would it take for the streamreader to READ the file........

When I first got started with VWD 2005 I remember a site that allowed me to download a number of sample web sites. I cannot seem to find any now. Does anyone know where I can access and download ASP.Net sample web sites, especially ones that have code for having users login to the site. I already have the ASP.net sample site that demos all the ASP.Net toolbox stuff.

I am having text formatting problem with Outlook 2007 since it is taking different rendering engine i.e word 2007. In our application, we are sending mails to different clients who have Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007. We have used CSS in our application for formatting.
1. Since I have created Tables and given width in Percentage to every <TD> but while rendering in outlook 2007, every table taking different widths depending on the no. of the columns. Due to this reason, formatting is getting distored. Outlook 2003 shows proper output.
2. In our aspx page, I have created DIV tag with Style attributes having Property as Display:none. But in Outlook 2007, DIV tag is visible. Due to this, unwanted Warning messages also getting displayed in the outlook 2007.

On Previous version of my application, if I want to export my data from SQL Server to Excel 2003 file, I just retrieve data from the SQL server and then straight away show "Open, Save, Cancel" dialog box to get the data on Excel 2003 Format. Here is the existing code in C#.
public void ExportToExcel(string StrFileName, DataTable dt)
{
if (dt!= null && dt.Rows.Count > 0)[code]....
but when I want to Export to Excel 2007 format with the same. I don't have any Idea to export it.
