Web Forms :: Capture List Box Order After Javascript Change

I have a list box with 2 buttons (up and down) to determine the sort order. To move the items in the list box up or down I am using Javascript. I have a save button which is used to save the new order. However, I have an issue, in that when I have rearranged the order and press save, the order from the code behind is the same as the original order. My list box is:
The AjaxToolkit has a ReorderList. I'm searching for a jQuery solution that does the same and found this page. I would like to change the order of divs (vertically) and upload the new order to the database (ajax).
What I want to do is if the OK button is clicked, save the data and then open the grid. If the Cancel button is clicked, open the grid. The problem is when I clicked the Cancel button, it didn't do anything in the OpenGridButton_Click event.
I have a gridview that receives data based on selection from a primary dropdownlist object. Works.
Within the gridview, there is a dropdownlist whose selected index is based on the query from the primary dropdownlist. Works.
Problem.
How do I force the used to change whatever value that the dropdownlist contains after they make their initial selection from the primary dropdownlist; except the default value of "make a selection".
Gridview, contains a checkbox which drives whether a selected row is inserted into the data base. The databind in done using an ObjectDataSource on the presentation page, not in the code behind.

Here's my gridview when it comes it it's sorts on Age. Sorting is available for all columns/headers. How do I make the sort order to change on the ddsrpt sort to desc order when it's clicked?
i have gridview with linkbutton.when i click linkbutton it should call javascript function which returns value would be input for database functions. how do i capture javascript function retun value(i am using Registerclientscriptblock)? and that should be input for database function. I have a DropDownList inside the EditTemplateItem (if the user clicks edit) in a GridView.The DropDownList receives all available rows from the database. My problem is,if the user clicks Edit in the GridView to edit a row and opens the DropDownList Box the original item is not selected but the first one.That means the items are sorted. Have someone an idea how I can solve this issue that the right item / the original is selected if I change to edit mode of the grid view?

I am buiding web application about news.My problem i need to change order of articles in that category. Example :
+ Article A ----> position 1 + Article B ----> position 2 + Article C ----> position 3 + Article D ----> position 4 + Article E ----> position 5 + Article F ----> position 6
All articles A -> F are inside category. Sometime i want to Article E is position 1, or article C in position 6 ...and so on Now i can't imagine what i have to do ?
