Mar 11, 2011I have a large database of user profile data. I need to be able to compare 1 row against all of the other rows, for all columns to find the best match.There are around 30 columns of data for each row. I need to be able to find the 5 best matching rows.
I.E.
Row 1 matches on 2 column's
Row 2 matches on 12 column's
Row 3 matches on 7 column's
Row 4 matches on 4 column's
Row 5 matches on 9 column's
Row 6 matches on 23 column's
Row 7 matches on 29 column's
In the end it will show me the data for rows 7, 6, 2, 5, 3 Now to make it even harder, Some of the columns are bit, some are varchar.Some of them may be a direct match, some will need to search if the column for row2 contains the text of row 1.

Feb 12, 2010I'm needing to get the selected rows, based on checkboxes, to insert into a different table than that that the gridview is formed from. I've created an innerjoin datasource to try and solve this but, still having problems finding something that works. I also need it to insert based upon a button click not inside the gridview as I believe otherwise would only hamper the situation more.

The tricky part I have to perform is to copy rows( only t1c2 -> t2c2, t1c3->t2c4 columns) untill I see NA(Not applicable string) in t1c3 to Table2 putting (10 in t2c1, 1 in t2c3, current date in t2c5 columns for all rows).

Dropdown list is in the same page. When I select dropdown Gender as male or female, I have to validate that Gender against GridView Column. If that Gender Exist in GridView, I have to display message.

Here users product's information are inserted in House_p table and users inforamtion inserted on House_info table
when page is load in my datalist show all product from House_p table
and i bind dropdownlist from region table
here i want when users select their region from dropdown list in datalist show product that are in selected region according to house_info table
now when i select region from dropdown list
EX: i select 1
in my datalist in first page show all product that are in region=1
problem is :when i click on other page of my datalist it showed all product that are in House_p table but i want it showed product that related to my selected item from dropdownlist i means first page is enough i don't want after showing product related

What I want to do is ensure that a specific field (i.e. "Tank_Number") does not get duplicated. What is the correct way to implement this?
I would like to use custom validation in the model class, the reason being the handy error messages, but am getting more confused as I read more articles. At the moment, I am using an If statement in the Controller, but it isn't ideal.

May 31, 2010I have one big DataTable with X rows. I want to select Y rows from it and bind them to a new ViewList. While doing it, I want to delete these rows from the DataTable (Having X - Y rows).
What is the best and fast way to do it?
I don't know if it is better to create a new DataTable to have the Y and after that bind them to a ViewList or something else?
I'm also looking for example in code how to select/delete rows from DataTable.

Jan 14, 2011I have two possible header rows for a DataTable that I build dynamically. Setting the value of a cell works fine. Adding the cell to a TableRow works fine. The problem comes in where I have to build a second possible header row that uses the same cell.
An example is below.
trHead1 = New TableRow
trHead2 = New TableRow
tcCalc = New TableCell
tcCalc.Text = "Rates"
trHead1.Cells.Add(tcCalc)
trHead2.Cells.Add(tcCalc)
As soon as I make the second row add the cell, the cell disappears from the first row. This really doesn't make sense to me but that seems to be the way it is. If there is a work around other than duplicating the lines;
tcCalc = New TableCell
tcCalc.Text = "Rates"

I'm using the IfUserIsInRole function and when I get the users Identity and name I'm prepopulating the gvSelected GridView with data (only people associated with that user) on page load. When I try to add none prepopulated people from the gvAll GridView to the gvSelected GridView all the origional prepopulated rows from the gvselected GridView are over written.
How can I prevent this from happening?

Oct 14, 2010Let me see if I can explain what I am trying to do...From a gridview a user would be able to select as many rows as they wanted and create a "custom group" ... that user group would then be available from a dropdown list for future selection. So next time they would just select the "custom group" from a dropdown list and the resulting datagrid would only have those rows that were originally selected.So if I had a datagrid which had: empoyeeID, name, address, phone#, etc...
1. I select what ever rows I want
2. Create a name for the new custom group
3. Click a "save group" button ... this would save all the employeeID's from selected rows.
4. A dropdown list would then be updated with the new custom group ... ie, MIKE's GROUP
5. User could then select MIKE's GROUP from a dropdown list and work only with rows that were added to it.
