Web Forms :: Databind To Label Text Attribute Using TableAdaptor?
May 25, 2010
I've created a dataset using a tableAdaptor in the code-behind as follows
[Code]....
which works great for the FormView in the aspx page.I would now like to use this datasource (or create something similar) to bind one of the column values to a label's Text attribute.Totally stuck here -- i understand i cant explicity bind to a Label as I could a dataview, etc, but i should be able to set the label1.text value using a datasource from the code-behind.

How do you databind from an AccessDataSource to a Label Control on page_load? I know you can use eval, but how do you associate your eval statement with the correct data source control?

I am new in ASP.NET and I am having a problem in generating the ID of each label that I generate in ListView's ItemTemplate control. I use it like this :
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="JobCat" runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:KROVAN %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [TblJobCat]"></asp:SqlDataSource>
<asp:ListView ID="ListView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="JobCat">
<ItemTemplate>
<li>
<a href="Jobs.aspx?CatID=<%# Eval("JobCatID") %>"><%# Eval("JobCategories") %></a>
<asp:Label ID="label<%# Eval("JobCatID") %>" runat="server"></asp:Label>
</li>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:ListView>
When I run it, it says Parse Error. So is there any solution than can be done to change the label ID like this?

I have Template fields configured for Gridview. The gridview is using an objectdatabsource to bind itself. I have the gridview configured to use Templatefields which then contain tables to display the information. This works fine.
My question is, is it possible to change the text of the label if certain criteria is reached. If "NumberOfDwellings" is 1 then change the label to read, "1 Dwelling". Where-as if NumberOfDwellings has more than one then it's "3 Dwellings".
<asp:Label ID="lbl_NumberOfDwellings" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("NumberOfDwellings") & " Dwelling(s)" %> '></asp:Label>

Is it possible to display or hide a label based on the text rendered in it?
I have a label that will display the value of a control on the previous page. If the value rendered is "0" then I want to hide the label or hide the label and one more label associated with it. (or if the value is more than "0" make it visible.

I'm trying to add html text to some repeater items during DataBind, but the html text isn't parsed into controls it just displays as text. If I copy the text and just add it to the asp.net page it works fine so I know my syntax is fine. So is there a way to dynamically add more html text during the data-bind phase?

i'm opening a new window and passing on to it variables in a querystring, the values are loaded into a function that is filling my dataset and then filling my Gridview. after i press the button field in my grid to delete an item, the databind doesn't show the updated grid but remains the same. i've noticed that if i navigate back and refresh i see it correctly. in FF btw no problem.

this is used to open the new window

I have a form where users enter information in a multi-line text box. This could be anything, such as bullets, carriage return line feeds, etc. Think of anything that you might copy and paste into a multi-line text box from Word Pad, or Word. I then store this information into a SQL Server NText field.When I retreive this information, I need to display it as the user entered it into the text box field into a Literal or Label control (or something else if there is a better alternative) to display it. Problem is that when I display this text into the Text
property of a Literal control everything is jumbled and all characters (bullets) are lost, no carriage returns, etc. One big mush of stuff. If I display this information in the Text property of Label control, I get the bullet characters, but no carriage returns

How do I create an ASP.Net MVC Helper for an Html.Label which takes in attributes? Currently when I define an Html.TextBox I am able to pass in a list of attributes. Sort of like below:
new {disabled="disabled", @class="pcTextBoxWithoutPaddingDisabled"})%>
However, it does not look as though the Html.Label has this feature. As a result, I have to define my labels using the label tag. Sort of like below: <label class="pcLabelBlackWithoutPadding"> I would like to be consistent I how my Html element get created. I have been messing about with this for hours surely this should be an easy task ....... I have a stored procedured that creates a invoice on a Quotetable one of the parameters is a output parameter Invoice Number this is passed to a label. (Label1) This works great.
I then need to add items to the invoice on a item table so my next stored procedure should take the value of Label1 and update the foreign key quotenumber on the itemtable with the value from label1.
On the aspx page I have a small section for a gridview which shows the current quote with however many items on it using the control
[Code]....
On the ASP page the control for @Quotenumber = Label1 but I get the following error
'Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'Label' to data type int.'
