I have created a asp.net webpage for viewing daily downloaded newspaper, saved as a pdf file in a selected folder (~/NEWS/{0}) within the web root directory. Also i have a SQL datasource linked, where the news table has two columns viz: date and filename.
I want to create a tiled listview where the date text is visible on the hyperlink. on clicking the hyperlink, the file name is retreived for the corresponding date and the pdf file opens in a fresh page.
I have tried going to the item template in listview and replacing the label control with a hyperlink control, but then not able to successfully proceed ahead.
I have a custom control that has some embeded resources. I need to be able to reference some of the embeded material outside the control in JavaScript. So let's say I have an image file embeded in the control and I have a script outside the control that will do something with that file. How do I reference that filename outside the control?Update: Not sure if this is even possible and I hav enot found any information on it.
I am using HTML file control and HTML image control in .aspx page (for uploading image and showing on web page). It is working fine. But I am unable to get that uploaded image file path and file name in .aspx.cs page. And also tell me how to save selected image in MS ACCESS database.
Please help to understand this RegEx statement in details. It's supposed to validate filename from ASP.Net FileUpload control to allow only jpeg and gif files. It was designed by somebody else and I do not completely understand it. It works fine in Internet Explorer 7.0 but not in Firefox 3.6.
I am working on ASP.NET3.5 platform. I have used a file upload control and a asp button to upload a file. Whenever i try to upload a file which contain special characterlike (file#&%.txt) it show crash and give the messeage "Server Error in 'myapplication' Application." A potentially dangerous Request.Files value was detected from the client (filename="...New Text &#.txt"). Description: Request Validation has detected a potentially dangerous client input value, and processing of the request has been aborted. This value may indicate an attempt to compromise the security of your application, such as a cross-site scripting attack. You can disable request validation by setting validateRequest=false in the Page directive or in the configuration section. However, it is strongly recommended that your application explicitly check all inputs in this case.
Exception Details: System.Web.HttpRequestValidationException: A potentially dangerous Request.Files value was detected from the client (filename="...New Text &#.txt"). Source Error: An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below. how can i prevent this crash using javascript at client side?
my web application i use FindControl to retrieve a Control By Name (it returns an System.Web.UI object). The control can be of various type and I don't want to treat them differently: I'd like to set the Text property to a defined string. I hope there's a class that I may use to cast the control and set the Text property.
I'm using SqlDataSource to update image stored in the database. Everything is working fine using the code below but I don't know how to access the Property Name to get the content type of the image. How can I have the pass the File upload's content type to the parameter @imgType?

I have a question. How do you rename a file from an upload control and save it in webserver folder?. Actually I know how to save it in the webfolder. All I want to know is how to check if the file already exist and to rename it if it exist with an addition of number to the file uploaded? Here is my code now. But I wanna add another number to it with the orignal file name.
In a Windows App this is considerably easy to get the property value of height or width. However in ASP.Net App it seems rather challenging to get the value. Something like...
Debug.Print(TextBox1.Height) this does not work because cannot be converted to string
Debug.Print(TextBox1.Height.Value) it ends up at 0.0 even though it is really set to 25px
Debug.print(Unit.Pixel(TextBox1.Height).ToString) doesn't work either
What I'm doing is some dynamic comparisons for control properties:
I'm trying to do something which to me seems like it should be simple, yet I cannot think of a simple way to do it.
I have a built custom control, that has a property I want to change based on a user's interaction with a second custom control. This second control will be a table of data, with an 'edit' link in the last column. I would like the control, when the edit link is pressed, to pass an ID and trigger some event so that I can assign this ID to the first control. My initial technique for building this (second) control was to create some code which will iteratively create some html based on a dynamic range of data selected by the user. I know that I could create some sort of link with a value in the query string, but I would like to implement AJAX and was hoping that I could enable this communication without changing the URL.
I am maintaining some Asp.net code. When one of the pages displays, a bulleted list of text is displayed on the web form. Somehow the bulleted text is passed in with a LITERALcontrol. I looked at the property of this LITERAL control and it is defined as "Pass Through".
I was confused because their was no C# code that was used to populate the LITERAL control. So basically with google I found out that the LITERAL must be using something called a "Pass through property"to pass in the data. Does anyone know anything about this? It seems very strange because I have no idea where the data is coming from.
So I hope I am on the right path here figuring out that a pass through property might be getting used.
Can someone me to understand this more, as I am so confused.
