C# - Custom Control Use Embeded Resource Filename In A Script?

I have a custom control that has some embeded resources. I need to be able to reference some of the embeded material outside the control in JavaScript. So let's say I have an image file embeded in the control and I have a script outside the control that will do something with that file. How do I reference that filename outside the control?Update: Not sure if this is even possible and I hav enot found any information on it.

I have written a smal HtmlHelper, but the thing is that I whould require some javascript functionallity to this helper. So I thought "Whouldnt it be great to actually let the framework add the javascript <script>-tag to the head-element of my Html document once I use this helper?"
So what I whould need/like to do is:
1. Add the Javascript-file as a resource to the dll, since this will allow me to always have the javascript file together with my HtmlHelper, so I dont need to have a seperate file for the js.
2. Add a <script src="{my js-resource}" /> to the head-element of my html document as soon as I use my helper...this is kind of the tricky part..since Im not realy sure about how to do this in MVC...if its even possible..the best sulotion whould be if I didnt need to add any other code in any other file then just in my HtmlHelper...(no code needed to be added in my views or controls) To put it all kind of simple...from what I recall..I want to more or less register a start up script, as its called in WebForms..but in MVC..(I saw an example of how to do it ClientScriptManager, but that whould require me to add extra code on my views and layout/masterpage-files...which simply doesnt do it for me if there is any other way)

I will be setting the current thread's culture at the beginning of the request lifecycle.
Does it make sense if I create my own resource.xml to store things like strings/labels/messages that will be used in the web application?
or are their drawbacks and its better if I just use the Global resources .resx files that are 'built-in' ?

I am working on a new project using ASP.NET 4 and I have a few Resource Files.However, I also have resources on a SQL database. I would like to somehow create a common resource provider.I would like to be able to use:
Resources.Labels.Email > This would take the resource Email from file Labels.
Resources.Database("Email") > This would take the resource with name "Email" from the database.When I get a resource from the database I always return the Name, Content and MimeType.To avoid multiple requests I could even have another method like:
Resources.Database(new List<String> { "Email", "Address" }) > This would take the resources with name "Email" and "Address" from the database in one request.I am not sure if this would be possible ... Basically I would need to have something like:
Resources.Database.Load(new List<String> { "Email", "Address" }); And then use: Resources.Database("Email");
And even have one more:Resources.Config("Email") > This would take the resource with name "Email" from th web.config file. Always a String.I have all the code with communication with the database and web.config.The main problem is really how to create this resource interface.

I have a FileLoad control (see aspx code below). In the code behind, on 'btnSubmit_Click' event I am trying to get the FileName to excute the save to server. The 'fu1.FileName' is always blank. Am I missing anything here? Ideas anyone? Code Start

My Composite control implements IScriptControl interface.
ScriptReferences java script file does the client-side work, there I want to load a html file inside iFrame.
The Html file is an embedded resource:
([assembly: System.Web.UI.WebResource("Control.Resources.list.htm", "text/html")])
I pass the path of the html to the javascript file via descriptor property:
IEnumerable<ScriptDescriptor> IScriptControl.GetScriptDescriptors()

Where iframe is a string that contains the path from the webresource.
Now, in this html file I want to display few images that must be also loaded from resource.
The Question is how to access the resources from this html file?

Please help to understand this RegEx statement in details. It's supposed to validate filename from ASP.Net FileUpload control to allow only jpeg and gif files. It was designed by somebody else and I do not completely understand it. It works fine in Internet Explorer 7.0 but not in Firefox 3.6.

I am working on ASP.NET3.5 platform. I have used a file upload control and a asp button to upload a file. Whenever i try to upload a file which contain special characterlike (file#&%.txt) it show crash and give the messeage "Server Error in 'myapplication' Application." A potentially dangerous Request.Files value was detected from the client (filename="...New Text &#.txt"). Description: Request Validation has detected a potentially dangerous client input value, and processing of the request has been aborted. This value may indicate an attempt to compromise the security of your application, such as a cross-site scripting attack. You can disable request validation by setting validateRequest=false in the Page directive or in the configuration section. However, it is strongly recommended that your application explicitly check all inputs in this case.
Exception Details: System.Web.HttpRequestValidationException: A potentially dangerous Request.Files value was detected from the client (filename="...New Text &#.txt"). I have a custom control that is based off the gridview control located at: here The control is basically a gridview that automatically creates a column of checkboxes that can be used to "check" individual rows in the gridview. During the gridview's "CreateColumns" event, the "checkboxcolumn" is created dynamically. The checkboxcolumn also contains another checkbox in the header that is used to "select/deselect all" checkboxes in the column. Since the gridview does not automatically remember the state of the checkboxes in the checkboxcolumn on postback, I added a method to the control called "SaveCheckBoxState" which stores the indexes of the checked rows in Viewstate, and then I modified the "OnRowDataBound" event to check the Viewstate and reset the checkboxes based on the Viewstate.
I then added a call to "SaveCheckBoxState" in the gridview's OnSorting and OnPageIndexChanging events. This works great so long as I'm sorting or changing pages. However, I need it to update the viewstate everytime someone clicks or unclicks one of the checkboxes. At this time, the checkboxes are rendered with an onclick event that calls some javascript to highlight the row, or in the case of the checkbox in the header, to select/deselect all checkboxes. I need to call the "SaveCheckBoxState" method from the javascript used by the customcontrol, or I need to find a way to modify viewstate from javascript and perform the same action as "SaveCheckBoxState".
I've tried adding the "SaveCheckBoxState" to the onclick event declaration in the checkboxes, but when run, it simply tells me that the method is undefined. It doesn't exist in the parent page, and I don't think I should have to make an event for the parent page to pass the click to. It seems to me this should be all self contained within the custom control. Does anyone know how I can acheive this? Here is the code for the gridview OnPreRender event where the onclick event of the checkbox is set:

I have a custom control which inherit from the Table class and in the constructor, it takes a an integer as an argument. There is no empty constructor.
Is there a way for the user to set that variable in the properties window after they drag the control onto a form.
I know some .NET controls, you can set the source for the parameter to different things like another control's property, QueryString using just the properties window.
Right now, I have to create the control dynamically. I read the query string and then created the object.

here's a situation and I would appreciate your response.
I have programmatically created the Wizard control:

Based on List I get from Session i added new steps to my wizard To each step I had added a custom control
Each custom control in tern contains another custom Gridview Control in it.
So here's the problem when the page loads for example for two steps. All is good Wizard does what it's supposed to do.
But when I try to use sorting or paging in that custom Gridview. Somehow it displays the gridview I should see in the next step of the wizard.
Also what I'm noticing through debugging. Is that when I press next in the wizard I go back to the original page where I do all of the code specified above, and it recreates the wizzard. But it goes to the next step. Is this the way wizard supposed to work? Just doesn't seem very efficient.

I have created a asp.net webpage for viewing daily downloaded newspaper, saved as a pdf file in a selected folder (~/NEWS/{0}) within the web root directory. Also i have a SQL datasource linked, where the news table has two columns viz: date and filename.
I want to create a tiled listview where the date text is visible on the hyperlink. on clicking the hyperlink, the file name is retreived for the corresponding date and the pdf file opens in a fresh page.
I have tried going to the item template in listview and replacing the label control with a hyperlink control, but then not able to successfully proceed ahead.

created a Custom Textbox Control that is intended to be a "masked date" textbox, so that I can handle different ways a user might enter in a date and make it work no matter what.I did this by creating a custom control with 3 separate Textboxes one for month,one for day one for year,then do some handling for different things that could be entered and it would all work.
The problem I am having is,when I add this control to the page,if I do an alert to check the Text value of the custom control it just gives me "[ServerControl1]" even if I enter in a date.
I tried doing an AutoPostback after entering so that it would refesh the Viewstate to have the values of the textboxes but the control doesnt seem to actually postback, even though I have it enabled.accessing the Textbox value after someoen
