Nov 22, 2010I was told to use a Repeater control in what I am doing which is a "Data Entry" screen with ASP.NET controls -a standard "address" like form. In cases, the fields on the form will repeated twice, once for the original values, one for the changed values. I have not used this control before but it seems like I have to bind to a database. Instead, I have an Entity object that has been obtained via a Repository. Can I bind to an object like this?

Mar 24, 2010I am populating data into formfields when i select checkbox in a grid view with the following code.I have 20 record set in database,Quotenumber(Main column) starts 3001 ,3002,3003..........3020.I am allowing duplicate entries meant that i have 4 recordset only on 3000 quotenumber like wise i may have 3or more record set on 3010,problem here is when i select first one of 3000(Quotenumber) it is supposed to populate the record set of first one of 3000 but only last one of 3000(quotenumber) is getting populated into form field.Can any one provide solution to this.

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Gridview Values To Form Fields To Resubmit?
Nov 30, 2010I have a gridview that pops up when you click a link. It displays 5 columns.. if you click on the "select" link next to the record, i pass that rows values back to my form and submit the form again.. this works fine if i select a record that has all my form field values..
but if i pick a record that has some values that are empty it doesnt work.. after debugging im finding that for the fields that are blank on the screen, this is the value being passed " " which of course is not empty or null.. so my code doesnt know how to handle that.. i even tried to add .Trim() to the end of the gridview value and still getting that space being passed. How can i pass empty string instead of the for fields that dont have anything to pass?

Forms Data Controls :: DataList - Updates Show Original Values Not Updated Values?
Jun 3, 2010Updates to the edited item are not passing the new / updated values but rather the original values. And I can't for the life of me figure out why when I change the original value in an edit textbox and post the update the new value is not being passed. I get the original value. Perhaps fresh eyes can spot the problem. This should be super basic but apparently I'm missing something.

C# - Creating A List Of Dataset Fields And Form Fields For Easy Updating?
Feb 25, 2011I have a relatively complex dataset (numerous tables, some with multiple records) generated from reading in an XML file. I need to connect said dataset fields to an ASP form. At the moment I'm assigning them manually, like so in the pageload:
txt_first_init.Text = formData.ds.Tables["phrmHdrKey"].Rows[0]["first_init"].ToString();
txt_last_name.Text = formData.ds.Tables["phrmHdrKey"].Rows[0]["last_name"].ToString();
ddl_pregnancy_flag.SelectedValue = formData.ds.Tables["pPhrm"].Rows[0]["pregnancy_flag"].ToString();
And conversely when it's time to submit.

I did some looking into binding the textboxes (and dropdownlists, and checkboxes, and and and...) directly, but it seemed to be too many formats to use.
So this works fine, but as the number of fields increases, those load and unload lists are going to get unwieldy.
C# - Only Update Actually Updated Fields In Entity Framework?

myobj.Content = "textbox content";
But, name may not have changed, it may only be a change to the content textbox.
The problem is that entity framework treats Name as changed just because I've set it's value, regardless of whether I've set exactly the same value or not.
Ideally, I would like EF to only mark things as changed if they genuinely have changed.

Oct 4, 2010I have a web app that allows users to update their public facing information (bio, profile pics, etc). Once a user updates a piece of information, it needs to be held "pending" until an authorized admin user "approves" the change. I was thinking that I'd keep a table (called something like PendingHistory) which would hold the "pending" changes, then once approved (which requires TWO admin user to approve), I'll dump this data into the "real" tables that's responsible for displaying information to the public. Is there a way (I'm sure there has to be) to only store those fields that were changed? Some sort of comparison of the original field vs "new" so I don't have to save everything. I was hoping to make it as easy as possible for the admin crew, so that they could just get a view of "pending changes" vs the entire row of data. So basically I need something like this:

Okay, I built an application from scratch a couple years ago and am trying to add some functionality so I don't have to do so much manual work.
I have two relevant tables, tableClasses and tableStudent2Class
Classes have 4 possible sessions that are available. These are bin fields which I mark as true if they're available for registration. There are upwards of 40 different classes that are available. Each class has a defined number of slots available (an int field).
The tableStudent2Class connects the tableStudents to tableClasses. There are three fields: classID, classSessionNumber, and studentGUID.
Now, is there some way to make the DB and/or form change the available bin fields to false when they receive a certain number of registrations?
DetailsView ItemUpdate / Not Being Able To Retrieve The Updated Values
Oct 24, 2010I have been struggling with DetailsView for quite some time.
Only chkActive and txtStatement in the code below are Editable. So when I click Edit, edit the fields and click Update, it does go to the ItemUpdating event, but I'm not being able to retrieve the updated values.
I get error-

Jan 16, 2014I have a ListView control that is inside of an update panel. I have a Button control that calls code behind when clicked and I have a trigger in the update panel that is triggered based on the click event of the button. The button that calls the code behind and inserts a record into the database works fine but I get a full page refresh and the ListView Data is not updated as expected. I then can go to another page, come back and the new data is there. I'm not sure what I missing. Please see the code below.
