View 1 RepliesI have a SL 3.0 xap I want to host in a ASP.NET website, I have access to the XAP file and I have created a HTML page to host the SL component.
When I access the page all I see is a white screen where the SL component should be, SL is loaded but the component is not displayed.
This is the HTML code for the SL div.
<body>
<form id="form1" runat="server" style="height:100%">
<div id="silverlightControlHost">

<param name="onError" value="onSilverlightError" />
<param name="background" value="white" />
<param name="minRuntimeVersion" value="3.0.40818.0" />
<param name="autoUpgrade" value="true" />

</form>
When I build me C# web app in VS 2008 I am presented with a white screen. Internet exporer shows that it is 'Done'. This happens no matter which Form of my project I run and will not display even the directory screen.
I recently copied and pasted controls from one form to another and after this it seems to have stopped working. I have tried deleting the newly created controls and then eventually the Form.
There are a lot of new features in VS 2010 that I'm very much enjoying, but there are two things occurring that I'm wondering about. I often have several windows open like any developer will, and I arrange them in a particular order that makes sense to me, from left to right. As new windows are opened, tabs are created at the far left, and I move them to where I want them. Basically, I like to have the database diagram at the far left, then the repository class for whatever controller I'm working on, then the service class, then controller class and then various views. Not that my particular order is important to the question, but here it is.
I've noticed that, while working and switching between tabs (by clicking on the tab - not moving it or removing the current one), this order is getting changed. Some of the tabs that I've dragged over to the far right will suddenly be on the far left. The rearrangement always places windows on the far left. This happens regularly, and I've paid attention to my actions, so I know I'm not accidentally dragging them over myself, or closing/reopening them. This seems to occur with the tabs that I use the most, as if Visual Studio is trying to place my most-used tabs over to the far left. I'd rather this not happen and handle the order of the tabs myself.
The other thing is less important, but is a little odd. When I start my MVC 2 application in debug mode, my entire code window goes completely white until the application loads. This never happened in VS 2008, and I'm guessing it's some kind of side effect of having the interface written in WPF. It's not that bad, but is a little annoying.
There are a million examples of how to generate an Excel file from a web page. I've done that and it is no problem.
What I haven't been able to work out is: how can I update the screen to let the user know how many rows were exported?
It seems to me that after you've done your:
[Code]....
then pumped the data our, then done the:
[Code]....
there's no way to cause a postback or do any subsequent server-side or client-side processing on the webpage with the Export button.
I've tried a whole bunch of different methods, but have not found one that allows me to "play on" after the export has finished with the Response.End() call.
i have a gridview bound to sql datasource with template fields binding the columns. I have set the Header Style to a css class. I have 3 columns not bound to data as Add, Edit and Delete. When I set the text color to white for the header only the non bound columns go white. The bound columns are BLUE like hyperlink. Any one know a way round this. (If I set the style in the gridview the all columns are white. Want to set in external css file).

I have upgraded web application from VS.2008 to vs 2010. I was using previously ReportViewer 2008 control in a page and replaced with 2010 ReportViewer Control.
I have installed the ReportViewer Redistributable also in my local pc as well as in the server. Also as per the new requirement I have placed the Scriptmanager in the web page where the reportviewer control located.
While running the page, the reportviewer run the report and is not showing the data on the screen. It shows the blank screen. But If I export the data to execl or world it is showing the data. Also the page numbers in the reportviewer showing the total pages available in the navigation bar. I am sure the report is running and bringing the data to the screen but not showing it.
I have a table on my page. I need to scroll down a little to get to that table. In that table i have som data that i edit and save to database. When the save is done i need to refresh the page( Response.Redirect(Request.RawUrl )) so it loads the new data to that table. When the refresh is done the page is on top again so that i need to scroll down again to see the table. This makes it very unusable for the user.
How can i refresh the page without it going back to top again? I tryed wrapping an updatepanel around the table but it didnt
1. Is there anyway to make an ifrom refresh without having to refresh the whole page?
2. My iframe just wont display when I run it. It just displays a grey screen with the file name in the middle.

I have created my first MVC application. I am using forms authenticataion. I have created a custom action filter MyAppAuthorizationFilter which inherits from AuthorizeFilter. Inside this filter I'm authenticating the user credentials by checking them against a database table (by overriding OnAuthorize method). If the user is not authenticated, I am redirecting the users to a login page (which is view of LoginController). I am using this filter agaginst my main controller so that all actions in this filter will execute only if the user is authenticated.
I do not have any problem when I use the asp.net development server (shipped with Visual Studio). But when I deploy the app to our IIS7 server, I can see the login screen when I access the default url, but after entering the credentials (both correct and incorrect) and posting back the Login page, it stays on the Login page (clears the pwd, but not the username). Its never getting redirected to the home screen or invalid login screen.
IIS 7 server has .net framework 3.5SP1, but no MVC. So I deployed the System.Web.Mvc dll in the bin folder.
Here's my Code (I've omitted the views and models as they are not needed here):
[MyAppAuthorizationFilter]
public class MainController : Controller
{
//
// GET: / [code]......
how we can refresh small part of the web page without refresh the entire page in C# ?
View 2 RepliesI am having an issue with my reportviewer where nothing is visible, not even the control. If I add other content, it shows, but the reportviewer is not. I am using the 9.0.0.0 version of the control with SSRS 2005 inside an MVC 2.0 application. I have built and deployed the report to the server. I have confirmed by looking on the report server and running it there.
My app is MVC 2.0
I have added a regular webforms page into the root of the website. I put it in a form, runat=server, and enabled viewstate. I have added the .aspx routing exception My code behind is set up similarly to every example I can find. My webconfig is configured (maybe that is where my issue is) I set up a manual test by forcing the correct values in and I get the same blank page. I have a reference to the 9.0.0.0 versions of Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms and Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common and as you can see my web.config matches my references.
The page appears white - no control is visible. No errors are thrown. As I remembered it, there should at least be a blank Reportviewer control on the page, however there isn't anything there at all.
A few other oddities - If I remove the parameter setting, no error occurrs. I also added code to send in credentials, but that did not work, even when sending in the credentials for the administrator account.

Is there a Page.Refresh type of Command to refresh a page? I don't want to redirect to the page or refresh in javascript.
View 4 RepliesI want to know that how can i make fit the page according to the screen size.
I am using master and child pages.
Before I already put the same question in the forum few months back but didnot get perfect answer. The solution I got from the forum is but it is not working fine:
[Code]....
I have published my website on intranet and checked on different sized monitors but the pages are not fitted according to the montior size.
I need to know how can I align my whole page to be visible on every screen in the center.
I mean that it fits into the screen and shows up in the middle of the screen not started from left side.
should I do it in the body tag or some way else.
I designed my page (Using ASP .net C#) in 1024*768. if resolution of the screen decresed(ex 800*600) then vertical and horizental scroll bar appear. And if resolution of the screen incresed then right side of the screen is become blank. i want whatever the screen resolution is there my page is run fine after detecting the resolution of the screen and then run.
View 4 RepliesI am using asp.net to call the reporting services report. In my asp.net page, there is a parameter screen which while running opns the reporting services report in asp.net page as pageA.aspx Now, whenever, I again change the parameters on the parameter page and click the run button, if pageA.aspx is already opened, it just refreshes that page but the page doesn't generate new results ( caused by the change in parameters). I want to close that page (pageA.aspx) before generating the same page with other values (caused by the change in parameters in parameter page). I want this function in page_load() function of the param page.
View 6 Repliesany page that I open in my browser comes up blank.
I don't get any errors, it just comes up blank.
I also noticed that it seems to bypass forms authentication. For example, even though the page I open is blank, it is the actual page name that shows up in the browzer instead of the page that it usually redirects to for the forms authentication.
I have images on my page. I want to protect them. so, i want to protect my page and images from print screen. How i will do it.
View 1 RepliesI am using the below code where I put this tag on a .aspx page:
"<a name="tips"></a>"
Now if I from another page run the code in the hyperlink to navigate to this page2 where I have the above tag. The page will scroll down to this tag automatically where this tag will be at the TOP of the screen.
My question now is if it is instead possible to scroll to the position where you have this tag at the BOTTOM of the screen instead ?

I have a HTML table in a webpage of an ASP.NET website.
I want this table to stay in the screen when I scroll the page.in fact it's like a toolbox for me and I should always have easy access to it.how should I do that?
i'm trying to create a web page that all of the content in will be placed in the center of the screen, regardless to the screen size or resolution.
i know it is possible to set the "left" and "top" properties but this is not the solution i could work with.
I have question regarding printer option page which pop up when i click on print button on crystalreportviewer and when i click okay on that pop up page it displays print preview of the report.
Is there any way to skip that pop up window(Printer Option) and just display (PDF)print preview screen instead?
(I am not exporting report to pdf, just want to display printview screen and when the user click on print button it will print out the page)
I have tried following code but i am getting error:
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
[code]....
The below is the exact scenario, One form will be there and when user click on "Edit" hyper link other window will open to get more details. In that new window also I have a grid or a table which has other hyperlink which lead to open other window and in that window I will enter few details and save it....

I have an .aspx page (with code behind) pulling in data from an Access database and has a gridview with a select that shows product details in a detailview and shows a picture of the product... it is all working correctly, but I need to develop another page for editing a selected product and have no idea where to start... I'd prefer a popup screen launched from en EDIT button with textboxes and an UPDATE button... does anyone have any clues how to do this? Here's my .aspx with the code-behind under it:
