Web Forms :: Passing Primary Key To User Control To Display Record Detail?

I'm building a user control to display detail information on a parent record. The user control will be displayed via an Ajax Modal Popup. The user control works and is displayed when expected. The problem that I'm having is that I'm not able to pass in the primary key for the parent. The control is displayed via the _ItemCommand event of a Repeater. In the markup for the user control, I explicity set the ContactId to 0 to avoid an error when the control loads (its still underdevelopment, eventually that I'll check if the value is valid).
I was assuming that I could change the property in the _ItemCommand event, but obviously its not working.In the Page_Load event this code successfully sets the ContactId property of the control. The _ItemCommand event appears to set the value. However when I set a test label on the user control to the Me.ContactId, its showing '0' as if it was never passed in.

I have two tables. One table containing 1 master record and the other table containing multiple records per 1 master record. I want to only display in a gridview (or whatever is best) the master record AND its assocated detail records IF certain fields in the detail records are there. I have been trying to figure out how to do this but I am still a bit of a newbie and I don't how I can do this.

I use Gridview along with Formview for master/detail viewing. When I change sorting in gridview selected index changes, too. I mean, eg first top record is still selected but it's another id. What I want is to keep id of selected record, in case of need changing a page

I would like to use the gridview paging feature and have built a gridview with a user control. The data source has lots of columns, so to make it easier I want to return a LIST<MyObject> and just pass <Myobject> into the user control rather than all the data elements. Not sure how I access the object of the data source to bind to the control. Assume it would be during ondatarowbound.
Also, my guess is there is a better way to do this than gridview. I'd take either solution that allows me to have easy paging and pass the complete object into the user control

What I am trying is, whenever user enters his Name and Address into the textbox on the webpage, I am going to displaying it in a Gridview. Now if second member will do the same thing thing the GridView will be updated and his Name and Address will display in second row and likewise for other users. But what happened in my code is when second user will try to add his record, it remove the record of first user and add the record of second at row1. I'm inserting data into a database with Linq to SQL and would like to access the primary key of that record WITHOUT doing a query for the values I've already captured.
Here is my insert startment:

There is a value in the table that is an auto increment integer.
Rather than doing a query for the pagetitle, description and content I'd like to just access the primary key that I would have just generated by performing the insert.
Is this possible or would I have to perform the query as I've just mentioned to retrieve it?

i cannot retrieve the new identity value from an inserted record(via DataAdapter.Update) in my DataRow.
I'm using a strong typed Dataset as DAL. The table i want to update is joinded with other tables in the SelectCommand, hence the designer cannot automatically generate the insert-/update-/delete-commands and also it cannot "Refresh the DataTable" automatically. [URL]
I've tried to set AutoIncrement=true/false on the primary-key's DataColumn but the result is the same: last MAX-ID+1 instead of the actual ID the database generated(SQL-Server 2005 EP; pk datatype:int, Is identity:yes, Identity Increment:1).
This will be the wrong value f.e if another instance of the application inserted a record that the first instance yet not knows and therefore generates an ID that already exists.
To retrieve the new identity from db i've appended following to my insert-command's CommandText:
;SELECT CAST (SCOPE_IDENTITY() AS int) AS newIdRMA
Also i've tried to add an Output-Parameter to it's parameter-collection:

I have a page that contains a few user controls which all use an id in a querystring. I want to change this so that the page can send the id to the user control and can call a function on the user control.
Also is it possible for the user control to get the id from the page or a control on the page as its parent?

I am using a FormView to populate data, then inserting it using a LinqDataSource. The primary key is an autoincrementing identity. I'd like to handle the ItemInserted event to update some other tables, but I cannot find how to get the primary key of the newly inserted record. The insert happens fine, but nothing for the PK.
I realize I can change to using a SPROC, or change to creating the new row and doing the insert myself, but I'd prefer to continue with the LinqDataSource's automatic insert.
How can I get the PK?

i created register page with unique primry username field , when customer enter exsiting username the register process will not complete and this error msg will appear Server Error in '/WebSite1' Application. I am a rookie developer here and I have tried looking around for an answer but I am little confused. I have a stored procedure that calls multiple stored procedures when I go to create a new contact.[Code]....

In my project, I need to create a user control to handle the sorting and pagination of all the grids in the application. The grid however will be different in different pages with different formatting.
I am able to do this by exposing a property from user control which takes gridview as the input.
then in page load, i bind this grid, and assign the sorting and paging event handlers to this gridview variable.
This way I am able to do the sorting and paging, but the problem is I have to bind the grid in all the post backs, and then in the sorting and paging events.
So when a user sorts, I have to bind the grid twice, once in page_load and then in sort event of user control.
I can store the first set of records in viewstate and bind that in page load, but is there any other way, so that i dont need to bind the grid in all post backs but only inside of not postback.

I have two table Order and Order Detail.
What i need is i need to bind last 10 Order in Gridview/details view with paging, and the same order detail also fetch from database and shown in another gridview.. if user click any oderNo in first Gridview/DetailView then i need to show Respective order detail in anther gridview..
without postback coz we already fetch 10 order with orderdetails from the database..and if user click next 10 orderNo using paging then again we need to load 10 orderNo with respective orderdeatils from database like this going on....as well as let me know how to take print of particular oder and order detail....?
