We're working in a Dynamic Data project that will handle entities coming from two different namespaces: myModel.Abby and myModel.Ben.
whose classes are:
[code]...
So myModel.Abby.Car and myModel.Ben.Car are homonym. when I try to register both ObjectContext's, an exception is thrown telling us that there are type name conflicts between the mentioned classes (although the types belong to different namespaces).
How can we overcome type-name conflicts, caused by repeated type names among different namespaces?

I've created a Dynamic Data project with an Entity Framework model. It works nicely. But, right now it shows all my database tables with the db column names - which aren't always the most friendly (e.g. address_line_1). How can I got about giving these more friendly column titles that will display to the end user?

Is there a way to add a Html.ActionLink through javascript? For instance, I have this Edit function in my controller:
public ViewResult Edit(int companyID)
{
....
}
And I'd like to do something like this in javascript:
var id = $("#hdnID").val();
$("#editLink").html(<%: Html.ActionLink("Edit", "Edit", new { id }) %>);
A bit of a crude example, but it's basically what I'd like to do. Is it at all possible?

I have a database with two columns: Retailers or Traders. A row can have only one of them with values while the other must be 'Null'. Both are nvarchars kinds. What I am trying to do is to show data if a radio button is selected for either Retailer or Trader. So I constructed a SelectCommand statement which is getting column names of either 'Retailers' or 'Traders' as a parameter but the SelectCommand statement still returns all records. What can I do?
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="dsSearchResults" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:AdoFabricsConnection %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT Name,Address1,City,State,Zip, Telephone, Email_Address, TO_THE_Trade, Retailer,

Example: we have different articles in a database like cars, jewelery, boats. The data related to these articles is different in the tables. I have to show that data in a textboxes and let the user change those data and update. I can do the update and reading the data from database. But the problems is for each item the no.of columns and rows will differ.
My task is I need to get the data according to the use selection in the table with textboxes. I dont know which container (gridview, formview or etc) will suites for my requirement. send me any sample code or any tutorial related to this.
Note: showing the data in a table should be a constraint. Because I should show data row wise (each row contains 3 textboxes and 3 labels (DB table column names))

I am unable to create dynamic menu from database. I have made two tables for this work.First table is Menu which stores menu id and its relevant name.
MId Text
------------
1 File
2 Edit
3 View
..
..
Second table is subMenu which stores submenus which will be linked to the menu table with menu id.
SId Text MID
-------------------
1 New 1
2 Open 1
3 Save 1
4 Cut 2
5 Copy 2
the menu should be created dynamically from the database, each menu should be displayed in single row
when we click on a menu the submenus are displayed in rows that in expand & contrast form
how to design & develope this page

I have been working with this database for some time. Here is the situation...
I inherited a MS SQL database that has hundreds of tables with similar data. For instance:
FordTampa_customer is a table,
ChevyAtlanta_customer is a table, etc....
All of the columns are the same...just different tables with their own ID field. All I have done...Inside of another database id is created a table called 'Customer' and added an 'Dealer ID' column along with the rest of the other columns in the other tables...
So the combination of the 'Dealer ID' and the 'ID' field are unique.....I know...its not the best way to do things...but I cannot change the old data structure because I cannot have access to it. I am give back-ups on a weekly basis, so this is all I have to work with.
All right, on to the real point of my post...
Currently, I have an application that I use to select all of the data from the 'Ford_customers','Chevy_customers',etc... and inserts them into my new main 'Customer' table. I do this by selecting the table names, bind it to an arraylist, loop through the list and execute an insert statement.
I do this in VB.NET, but I would prefer to do it in a Stored procedure of some kind....I just am not sure how to accomplish it. I use this syntax to get my list of tables:
[Code]....
I am not sure how to take those names from the table and do another select based on that list of names.

I have a page with a data repeater. Each row has a dropdownlist for the user to select a value and the values in every dropdown are the same. I also have an SqlDataSource which each dropdownlist gets its values from as its created. Everything is working as it should but for each dropdown that is rendered a seperate call is made to the database.
suggest a better way for me to do this that means only one call to the database for all dropdowns rendered?

Given a string in my database like "Computer Gadget", I am trying to achieve a url format like "http://xyz.com/products/details/computer-gadget" when a user clicks a link to the item "computer gadget" from a list view.In my list view for the products, I have Action links that read like this
[Code]....
When I hover over this link on the rendered page I get a link that looks like "http://xyz.com/products/details/computer+gadget"and the correct product detail is returned after I have url.decoded the string in my Details method. However, the returned page displays a url that looks like "http://xyz.com/products/details/computer%2bgadget"How can I get the returned url to show "computer-gadget" instead?Also when a name has "&" or "/" the server throws a Http 400 error message. I know these are unsafe values, but is there a way to work around this safely to allow the strings keep these characters?

We are buling a hosted ecommerce shopping cart solution and I would like to use asp.net's built-in membership provider. We dont really want to have a seperate database for each domain, we want to share the same database across mupltiple domains for different customers. Each domain is a seperate store.
My problem is that since it's a shared hosted solution people coming from different domains might use the same user name and it would show as if already existed. Is there an addional field I can use to store the domain name so basicly would be unique by username and domain name. We don't want to share information between stores.

I've watched the Slideshow videos and created a number of examples that run fine. The code I've attached at the bottom is the smallest one, but instead of hard coding the image locations, I would like to select the slides from either of the following statements, which return the top 5 images selected randomly from our floorplans database.
<asp:AccessDataSource id="AccessDataSource1" runat="server" DataFile="../fpdb/J3_2005.mdb" SelectCommand="SELECT TOP 5 [Elev_Pimage] FROM [PLANS_Active] ORDER BY RND(INT(NOW*[SF_Total])-NOW*[SF_Total])" />
or,
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:J3_2005Slideshow %>" ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:J3_2005Slideshow.ProviderName %>" SelectCommand="SELECT TOP 5 [Elev_Pimage] FROM [PLANS_Active] ORDER
BY RND(INT(NOW*[SF_Total])-NOW*[SF_Total])" />
