View 3 RepliesI have an application where in a simple aspx page I have a linkbutton called "View" that redirects me to another page passing scenarioId as a parameter.
In the new page, I would like to pull up a db record pertaining to that Scenario and store those values somewhere so that, if I do a post back on that page, I am able to access those values, along with other new parameters to pass into another stored procedure that does db updates.
As there are about 10-15 different values, it does not make sense to me to have a property declared for each variable. I feel there is a better way to store those values together as a single entity like a class or a structure and save and load from viewstate during page loads and postbacks respectively?

I've implemented the Tabs control in AJAX Control Toolkit.In some instances, I want to select a specific tab on page load. Is there a way to do that?For example, I have 4 tabs on my page. If it's the first time a user is logging into the app, I want to automatically select the 3rd tab which contains some intro info about the app. From that point on, the default tab i.e. the first one would do fine.

This is a simple Master Details configuration, when a someone clicks on the Select link in the GridView, the FormView brings up the Details data. But for some reason the FormView's DataSource is trying to retrieve data when I load the page. This is causing an error because no ID is passed from the GridView.

I'm creating user controls that i will put into an update panel and make them visible only when required using triggers. Once visible it will float in a dialog box so it has a close button which will just hide the control on client side.
The controls have multiple post back states, like a wizard, i'm using a multi view control to accomplish that. My problem is that once the user is at step number two in the control, if the user closes the dialog, than opens the dialog again, (note that the control is made visible on the server and reloaded by updating the updatepanel) the second step will still be displayed. The reason is . because whenever there is a postback the control will load its state using the viewstate, even if EnableViewState is false it will still load it using the LoadControlState method. so my quesion is how can i force a user control to load fresh with its default values without any postback data.
