Aug 26, 2010I have an application where in a simple aspx page I have a linkbutton called "View" that redirects me to another page passing scenarioId as a parameter.
In the new page, I would like to pull up a db record pertaining to that Scenario and store those values somewhere so that, if I do a post back on that page, I am able to access those values, along with other new parameters to pass into another stored procedure that does db updates.
As there are about 10-15 different values, it does not make sense to me to have a property declared for each variable. I feel there is a better way to store those values together as a single entity like a class or a structure and save and load from viewstate during page loads and postbacks respectively?

Jul 1, 2010I have 2 gridviews in an aspx file. The First one is master grid, and the second one is detail grid. (such as Customer and it's Invoices) First, I load data into master grid. I use FireBug and notice that every row has it's row id, such as:

How To Load A Page With Its Default Values After A Postback
May 14, 2010I'm creating user controls that i will put into an update panel and make them visible only when required using triggers. Once visible it will float in a dialog box so it has a close button which will just hide the control on client side.
The controls have multiple post back states, like a wizard, i'm using a multi view control to accomplish that. My problem is that once the user is at step number two in the control, if the user closes the dialog, than opens the dialog again, (note that the control is made visible on the server and reloaded by updating the updatepanel) the second step will still be displayed. The reason is . because whenever there is a postback the control will load its state using the viewstate, even if EnableViewState is false it will still load it using the LoadControlState method. so my quesion is how can i force a user control to load fresh with its default values without any postback data.

I'd like to be able to set the focus to this textbox when the page is loaded. Is there a really easy way to do this? I have to admit that so far I haven't found it. I know that I can do this using something like this JQuery/Javascript code: $('#UserName').focus();
However, I don't like the fact that the model field name 'UserName' has to be expressed as a string constant again here - it smells of a maintenance problem. I'd really like to be able to reference the model field directly if possible. Somethiing like this: $('#' + '<%:Html.ModelFieldNameFor(m => m.UserName)%>').focus();

May 12, 2010I have a detailsview which includes a drop down list bound to an array. However, when I click on the cancel button the dropdownlist values disappear. I have tried to solve the problem by rebinding the values back into list on the cancel command event, but this has made no difference. Does anyone know how to solve this?
