MVC :: NerdDinner And Logo Link?

Sep 17, 2010

I have uploaded the nerddinner sample to "www.aaa.com/test/nerd". When a mouse is on menu tab such as "Find a host" then the link is shown at the bottom of Internet explorer as "www.aaa.com/test/nerd/Dinner" with the contoller name "Dinner". When the mouse is on the main logo which is on top and left, the link shown as "www.aaa.com". So it direct me to "www.aaa.com" instead of "www.aaa.com/test/nerd"

When can I change it? I have tried change the "start url" from the application property, but it did not work.

Web Forms :: How To Link Search Textboxes On Different Pages

Mar 25, 2010

I have a search page (Search.aspx) with a search textbox. I would also like to add a search box to my homepage (Default.aspx) so that the viewer can immediately start searching.

I am aware I could do this by adding the search box to the Master template and using a ContentPlaceHolder, however I don't wish to do this for two reasons:

- The width of the Search.aspx textbox is quite wide - too wide for Default.aspx (the location I have for it)

- I am not yet convinced that I want this search box to be present on ALL my pages.

- I am considering using different AJAX Watermark Extender texts for the two search boxes.

How can I link the two textboxes with VB.NET? I want to be able to:

- Type a keyword into the Default.aspx search textbox, press the Return key (there is no Search button on
Default.aspx but there is in Search.aspx) and be taken straight to Search.aspx with the returned search results!

- Have the keywords transferred to the search textbox in Search.aspx so that they are sitting there waiting for me when Default.aspx takes me there.

Web Forms :: XmlHttp To Make Link Visible?

Jul 29, 2010

I've successfully used the xmlhttp object to redirect (xmlHttp.open) user to another page but I have the following issue ..I have a classic ASP application that has some very antiquated "admininstration" functionality built in that loops through a SQL table with NT Accounts and allows the link to only be visible to users with NT account in the table. We have since moved on to manage permission to our .net apps using an object that looks for your NT account in an Active Directory Group. So, I would like to use the .net object to return True if NT account is a member of the group and then display the link (which is in the classic ASP page) if the .net object returned true.I don't know if that can be done .. I just know I'm able to return the TRUE value using the xmlHTTP ajax object but I only want to set visibility of a link rather than xmlHttp.open to redirect to another page.

Web Forms :: How To Make The Sub Application's Css Visible To Its Pages

Feb 26, 2010

I have a project that uses a CSSHandler with images and css style sheets in the project root directory in their own folders (img, styles, App_themes). I also have a sub application that comes with a MasterPage. The sub application is located in a separate folder in the root directory with all its images, css, and pages. Functionally the sub application works, but the formatting is lost. The images and colors are not displayed. How can I make the sub application's css visible to its pages? It has probably something to do with the way the CSS handler delivers themes and css style sheets?

Forms Data Controls :: How To Make A Cell On A GridView To Be Link On A Page

Oct 27, 2010

im just trying to use this answer, but im getting an error on my page:

"A field or property with the name 'returnantID' was not found on the selected data source."

Im not really sure what the "returnantID" is but it appears my page isn't liking it, not sure if i was sopposed to cswap it out for some other data or not.

This is my current gridview:

<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" GridLines="None"
DataSourceID="ObjectDataSource1">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="ProductName" HeaderText="ProductName"
SortExpression="ProductName" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Price" DataFormatString="{0:c2}" HeaderText="Price"
SortExpression="Price" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Length" HeaderText="Length"
SortExpression="Length" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Engine" HeaderText="Engine"
SortExpression="Engine" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Colour" HeaderText="Colour"
SortExpression="Colour" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Description" HeaderText="Description"
SortExpression="Description" />
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>

would just like the ProductName to link to the corresponding products page(using its Id)

p.s this is what i tried:

<asp:HyperLinkField DataNavigateUrlFields="returnantID" DataNavigateUrlFormatString="Details.aspx?id={0}" DataTextField="ProductName" NavigateUrl="Details.aspx" />

**Update** I changed the "returnantID" to "ProductName" which turned the name of my product into a link but clicking that link gave me this new error:

Input string was not in a correct format.

Forms Data Controls :: Make Gridview Row Link To Dynamically Numbered Document

Aug 16, 2010

I'm building an incident reporting site in ASP. I have a gridview listing incidents, with a unique dynamic number for each incident. SQL generates a report for each incident, and I need to create a hyperlink at the end of each gridview row linking to the associated numbered document so the report can be opened and printed.

Incident Number Incident Name Incident Description Incident Report
112 fred tall link
111 frank short link
110 bill wide link

The fields are populated by pulling data from SQL (names have been changed to protect the innocent!). The link for the document needs to contain the number from the dynamically generated Incident number. SQL creates a folder full of docs:-

IncidentReport112.xml
IncidentReport111.xml
IncidentReport110.xml

I'm guessing I need to add a hyperlink field to my gridview, and then need something to tell the url to point to IncidentReportxxx.xml, where xxx is the database's Incident Number field. I am very new to coding, I'm working in ASP, language VB, using Visual Studio 2008.

Make The Link Dynamically?

Jan 25, 2011

I would like to keep this post in Getting Started for a while before moving to specific section.

I have on my asp.net a youtube embedded video using code as follows

However, instead of hard code them in my page, I want the video reference code "nTasT5h0LEg" below be flexible and dynamic using label1.text instead. Is this possible ? the following is the html code of the object. Is it possible to change it to

value=http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/"&Label1.text&"?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0

But intellisense says this is an error.

Web Forms :: Using Themes And Multiple Master Pages To Make A Template/profile Based Website?

Oct 21, 2010

I have atleast 10 websites that have different css,html,javasacripts and webconfig. But the same code behind files.With this design everything is hard to maintain. So I decided to work on it and I started moving all the queries in the code beghind file to stored procedures. Since every website uses the same database.

What I have decided is to make use of themes and multiple master pages? IS this the best way to go about it?

Also lets say I have two templates. There is site A and site B. both using different templates. And have pages Home About Us and Contact.

Now would I be creating three different masterpages? for each template so 6 in total? ( since none of the templates are supposed to look the same)

or Should I just create two masterpages? if so how would I manage the html of the page so it looks different?

C# - How To Make A Unique Link Generator

Jan 28, 2010

In an email, I want my users to be able to click a link to confirm an interview schedule. How do I dynamically create these urls?

I am thinking of using a query string and I don't want them to have to login every time. So ideally, I'd like this query string to contain credentials, and a date and time. Of course, I'd like this to be encrypted in some simple way.

example: invitation.aspx?qs=24lkl254524j2re2wtl5y6.
