I have a page that contains a user control. Can i make an ajax request directly to the control? I know I can make an ajax request to .aspx or .ashx; however, is it possible to go direct to the .ascx?
View 2 RepliesI have a drop down in an ASP.NET page. Whenever the value of the drop down changes an ASP.NET AJAX request is made to the server. I also attached a jQuery "change" event handler to that list to execute some code when the value is changed. So, probably two different event handlers are being attached to the same drop down, and it's causing some problems, i.e., sometimes wrong drop down values are sent to the server. I don't know why is this happening but I think attaching two different event handlers to a same drop down may be the reason.
Can anyone tell me what is the problem here? If what I guessed is true, then is there any other way to execute some custom javascript code before asp.net AJAX request is sent ?
I am write code in java script
window.location=document.location.path
when I am search college then display url
http://localhost:1682/FinalTest/searchcollege.aspx?CollegeId=25
if I am overwrite url in Addressbar
after My url ---
http://localhost:1682/FinalTest/searchcollege.aspx?CollegeId=25&id=3&cid=5
I want when I am search any another college then show my url
http://localhost:1682/FinalTest/searchcollege.aspx?CollegeId=20&id=3&cid=5 means only change my CollegeId=25 to 20 and other parameter is not change. Use only javascript.
function DatalistFunction(argumentid) {
set_minimum_points_for_session = value;
SetSession(set_minimum_points_for_session);
Redeem(argumentid);
}
this is my code which i am calling on link button onclientclick event.
sometimes what happens is redeem function gets called first and then setsession function gets called. do i need to put some delay or something between the 2 functions, so that they run everytime in their own order
In aspx I have a querystring - www.mysite.com/enter.aspx?dest=#. When I click "enter" I go to main.aspx. I want to get this "?dest=#" in main.aspx with a request.querystring or something in javascript. I need to use the querystring in javascript in main.aspx for another action.
let me explain in detail - I have enter.aspx page that shall load with a querystring - www.mysite.com/enter.aspx?dest=#. Now when i click the Enter button on Enter.aspx page, it shall goto Main.aspx page. When main.aspx page loads i want to write small javascript in main.aspx that shall get the querystring from the previous enter.aspx page and give it an if condition. so if (request.querystring('dest=') > 0 window.open ('a1.jpg') this above code needs to be redesigned so it can work. how can i do this. i tried window.location.href.indexof('dest') , nothing happened.
Within an ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel on my page I have a submit button which has some custom javascript validation applied which set a global _cancelGeneralSettingsUpdate flag depending on the results of the validation.In this case the variable _cancelGeneralSettingsUpdate is correctly set to false but the initializeRequest function is not called before the page attempts to postback via AJAX, causing the postback to fail. I need to be able to have postbacks succeed once the invalid input has been corrected and the user clicks the submit button again. Unfortunately I do not seem to be properly wired into the PageRequestManager pipeline once postback has been cancelled. If I refresh the page, everything works again, but cancelling the postback via args.set_cancel(true)
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to call a handler using javascript code? e.g. i have a handler deployed at this location http://mysitename.com/getMyData.ashx. Can I call this handler or just request it using javascript?
View 3 RepliesI have several ASP.NET sites, hosted on the same domain (different subdomains) and working via HTTPS.I have WCF service, hosted on the same domain.I have a separate state server for sessions. why - i will reply later, but it's a 'must') On my sites, I use grid components from Telerik (but actually it does not matter) that ask for data from WCF service and must be filled with this data.I cannot manage to make POST request to WCF service from javascript: for some reason it's always either GET or OPTIONS (no matter if I use Sys.Net.WebServiceProxy invoke or just a plain jquery AJAX request). It happens even if I indicate COOKIE mode
View 3 RepliesWhile using Ajax in web applications we use XML to transfer the data between server and client. However XSS validation comes into picture, So questions are,1. Is passing XML like this is correct?2. Are we exposed to security issues if we turn off XSS validation?3. Can passing Ajax request with header (content-type = application/xml) solve this problem ?JSON is also good approach to transfer the data but that to invoke XSS.
View 1 RepliesI m trying to access a data after invoking a URL which redirects the output to another page with query strings.ie:
$.ajax({
url: 'http://foo.com/results/bar.aspx?fooid = 123&more=1',
success: function(data) {
[code]...
Reponse results empty. This URL is a redirect to another page with query string, I already have a page that parses the query string and write the output to a page.But response is blank.
i am tring to show a div tag after do request ajax. i am using this code for do my purpose.
my html code:
[Code]....
and controller:
[Code]....
after do request ajax the div tag showing but unber the view showing a new view again
I am just wondering that, is there anyway to make an Ajax request using jquery ("$.ajax") and making partial rendering without using the .NET Ajax framework (without script manager).
I have tried this before, but it's executing the page_load every time and not reaching to the pagemethod.
[code]....
I'm having difficulties to find a good explanation and tutorial on how to send an ajax request from one asp.net control (when clicking on an item in its )to update from the server another control.
Is UpdatePanel is the only solution- and does it really avoid a postback?
I'll be thankful for any useful link,
My basic structure is that I have a table on a page, which I want to reload without refreshing the entire page. So on clicking a button on the page it fires of this:
function RefreshMissionsAjax() {
//fade out the old table.
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).fadeOut(500);
//request the new value from the page (calls the GetIncompleteMissions() method in the MissionViewer.aspx.cs page)
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "MissionViewer.aspx/GetIncompleteMissions",
data: "{}",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function (msg) {
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).html(msg.d);
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).fadeIn(500);
},
error: function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) {
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).html('An error occured while trying to refresh the page data.');
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).fadeIn(500);
}
});
}
And I have in the code bedind of an aspx page:
[WebMethod]
public static string GetIncompleteMissions()
{
return GetHTMLTable();
}
This method just grabs some data, and creates a html table - nothing too fancy. When the returned table is small (a dozen rows or less) then it works like a charm. But when it gets larger, it takes a long long time. At 100 rows it can take 5 minutes to render the table. At 1000 rows I have left it for 30 minutes and nothing will happen after the fadeout. (NB - it loads fairly quickly on the pageload, before the ajax refresh is used, so it is not the actual server side creation of the table thats the problem).
This is my first real attempt at doing something like this, so I dont know if this is the best way to do it - it was just something i pieced together that worked great when i was testing with small datasets. Now, not so much.
I am in a situation where I need to get XML string of each product from server side on request, but only those tags that are added to XML at server side after the last client request. How can I determine at server side and return only newly added tags of XML of requested product to client so that only latest and relevant information could be shown at client side. And is there any way to save and keep on updating that XML data retrieved for each product on client side?
View 2 RepliesImageUrl='<%#Eval("Name","../Master Pages/DisasterImages/") %>'+'<%#Eval("Request.QueryString["DisID"].ToString()/{0}") %>'
DisID is a folder name.
What i want is to display the images in the directory. I have done it using a repeater control.Problem is now i want to get the folder name in the Query String.How can i do this.Above is the code that i have tried and it doesn't seems to be working..
We are using 2 ISA proxy servers in front of our webserver and are getting intermittant Ajax errors in our application.
Our web logs indicate that there are 407 errors occurring during the requests.
When other users hit the webserver directly this issue does not occurr and this is also not an issue in IE8 but is in IE7.
The error dialog has Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException and the details say "error parsing near '<!DOCTYPE html P'
I'm using the MVC2 framework and one of my views has a bit of conditional logic that gets the Page.User.Identity object and does a comparison with other values to determine what to display.That all works fine on the initial page load, but when I make an AJAX call to get partial page updates (I'm doing this all manually with YUI3, not the .NET AJAX stuff) the Page.User object is always null.
View 1 RepliesThis is so frustrating to me. I'm doing this via standard .NET 2.0+ web services (not WCF). My application is in .NET 3.5 but I'm just adding a service reference. I've not done any SOAP WSDL sending before. I've used NVP which to me seems much more error prone and burdensome because you have to create all the wrappers yourself and if any of that third party API changes, it breaks your code. I have not a clue how to make a call using the latest PayPal WSDL. I added the service reference and I see proxy classes such as [className]Request and [className]Response but how do you actually make the CALL and send the request over the wire?
I see people have used the outdated (.NET 1.1) PayPal SDK. We do not want to use an SDK just to send a request. Isn't it much easier nowdays in .NET when using any SOAP API to invoke the request? People for example using PayPal are relying on a caller class from that SDK but again it's way, way outdated. So onto today, .NET 2.0+, I thought that you don't need all that plumbing anymore?
How would I do this? I see no good documentation on the net period on .NET 2.0 or 3.5 web services especially SOAP and it's frustrating. Sure add the service reference, use the WSDL and proxy generated class wrappers but outside this HOW to make a request is impossible to find. I'm seeing legacy ways of doing this in .NET and then I hear this is all done under the covers for you in .NET..I guess that must be .NET 2.0+ ?? Is it as simple as just making the proxy class method calls and .NET under the covers takes care of the plumbing to actually send the request over Http unlike .NET 1.1 where you had to do all the plumbing yourself?
I tried the Request.IsAjaxRequest but this does not exist in WebForms. I am making a JQuery ajax call. How do I check if this is a ajax request or not in C#?

UPDATE: After seeing what client side errors were being thrown it seems that the ID is undefined. Is my method of getting the elements ID incorrect? Keep in mind I am using jsTree and ca I possibly use (obj)?
Controller: Products and Action: Save, return a JsonResult. If a trapped exception occurs, i would like to signal that error to the client (ie:jQuery) with a custom error message. How can I do that both on the server and client? Can i utilize the function pointer error in this scenario?
Here's the client code
