C# - How To Read HTML Content Of Ajax Based Website
Mar 7, 2011
I would like to know how the HTML source of ajax based sites can be read using HttpWebRequest / HttpWebResponse (That is reading the contents of a website at server side). The problem that I'm facing is that I'm unable to read parts of the webpage which uses Ajax or stuffs like UpdatePanel.
My application is in ASP.NET / C#, so can't think of using stuffs like Browser control or mshtml.dll since I would not be able to serve multiple requests.
I am exporting a HTML table to excel by sending the data as a HTML Table string and setting the content headers:
[code]....
Is there a simple way of setting the content-length based on the size of the HTML string? Or should I just leave it blank anyway...would be nice to have the content-length ideally...
I want to design a website which displays on loading two tables each with it's respective data from a csv file. Then every minute the website automatically refreshes. This problem seems so simple! But yet the solution eludes me.
All of the files will be contained in 1 directory, not on a server but on a local machine. Such as sitting on the desktop. I understand if I use javascript I have to use ADO, and I'm still trying to work out how to use ASP. I am new with both languages. So far the only restriction is that I can't use PHP. So the jist so far as I can think right now is:
1. read the file 2. place the file into an array by splitting at the commas 3. write the array into td's ????? 4. then print all this out into a div ????
I have googled my heart out and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. or even piece together what I'm looking for. Everything with javascript and ADO's leads me to dead ends, I can't find anything on ASP that is helpful. Could someone write up some sample code for a resource? Or have a better solution?
I would like to use HTML input file type in my aspx page to allow user to browse for a excel file and then read the content of the excel sheet programmatically. If I want to read the excel sheet I need the full path of the file to connect to the excel sheet using asp.net.I do not understand how can I get the full path of the file.I know I can get the filename using postedFile.FileName property. But I need the full path of the file.
In my webform I want to show the html editor as read-only. Can anybody post complete code to implement this.
I am viewing the webform in Internet Explorer. I am getting the dreaded javascript event is null or not an object error. This is what I tried without luck .
I have a AJAX editor and I want to put the HTML content in a database and I want to get the HTML data from the database to put in the HTML editor, in HTML mode.
We would like to use a contentPlaceHolder in our pages to set titles. What we would like to do is have the masterpage check the contentPlaceHolder to see if it has content in it. This way we can set up an e-mailer that will tell us what pages that don't have page titles since we have a fairly large site. We also have nested masterpages.
I am writing an application that renders a list of "Job" objects from an AJAX JSON response.
What is the best way to Render the markup from the returned data. Now I'm pretty convinced that its a bad idea to generate HTML markup on the server side and return that from the AJAX call. From experience it makes the HTML hard to maintain and re factoring the content is a nightmare, so I am returning a collection of Job objects as JSON.
The question, then, is how to render the HTML based on user input? I've seen some examples of having your markup template on the page then use JQuery to clone it and populate with the relevant data the insert it into the DOM.
The problem with this is that the template contains visible content (images and suchlike) and the application needs to degrade, so I have a repeater on the page that the severside code and populate on page load if JS is not available.
I have a website where I'm trying to use an HTMLEditor to allow users to alter the body of email text. The text is stored in a database and looks like this:
[Code]....
I load the current email body into the Content property of a new HTMLEditor.Editor object. When it loads the HTML, though, it looks like it does above; it doesn't "process" it. Can the Editor process the HTML?
Also, when I do edit HTML in the object and submit, the Editor's Content includes "<" instead of "<", etc. Do I have to manually deal with that?
I am using the HTML Editor with a database, which works fine. All the instructions I find show the output on the same page as the Editor - which to me doesn't make much sense... at least not for how I want to use it. I believe I need to use the Literal control, but I can't find a clear example.
If I have Editor1 on page "edit.aspx" which submits the content to database db.mdb, using fields "id" and "fldContent", how can I display the content on another page "view.aspx"?
I want to use ajax html editor. I want to store the content of it in a ms access database and how can I do that? editor1.text is valid on this I guess. also do ı need to use ole object for that?I want to view it in datalist and how can I do that?
I am trying to write an ajax based tooltip for a website. The JS file searches the html page for certain keywords, which are fetched from an xml file. The keywords are searched using searchhighlight Jquery plugin. Then I use ajax to fetch the description of that keyword (or help) from aspx file(which just parses the xml doc for description of keyword)
I have been able to do everything except position the call to my mousehover functions. What has been happening is, when I hover over the first word, the tooltip gets displayed properly, but when I go over to the next word, the first tooltip gets displayed for a split second before the new tooltip loads. how to resolve the issue and make my code run smoothly? Here is the js file:
I wish to execute a javascript function in HTML Editor content. Hower, I give me the error "object expected". It seems like the browser cannot locate my javascript file.
Here is my setup:
- I have an external javascript file, "myscript.js" under "script" folder which has "test" function which contains a single "alert()" command.
- I referenced to "myscript.js" via <script src=....> tag (and also tried using Script manager's ScriptReference Path, same result).
- In my default.aspx page, I have a button which call "test" on mouseover event, which works call "test" correctly whenever I mouseover.
- In my default.aspx, I have the HTML Editor, with the this HTML content:
When I mouseover "ok" alert() script executed, but it give "object expected" error on I mouse over "not ok", it look like the browser cannot find "test" in myscript.js.
How do I reference this a script file inside the HTML Editor content?
How to save Ajax Editor content as an HTML file to a disk?
Let's say I have an Ajax Editor which allows user to type or paste in long message or writting. Once he clicks on "submit" button, an HTML file will be created and save to a disk. I am working on asp.net 3.5, ajax version 3.5 (from codeplex, work well).
i have 4 comboxes (com1, com2, com3,com4) and 4 tables (tab1, tab2, tab3, tab4)com1 and tab 1 have master table relationships i.e when in com1 the name is entered tab 1 shows the result of that entry. the same is for the rest comboxes and tables.
Now what i am trying to do is when an user clickes on com1 and types the name of the employee tab2 tab 3 and tab 4 should be hidden. if com2 is clicked tab1 and tab3, ta4 shoud be hidden.etc
Currenty i am using this code which i do not like. Is there any easy and short way to do hide an show.
this is the code i am using
<script type="text/javascript"> $("#com1").on('click', function () { $("#div1").fadeIn();

I want to make a 2nd website and am using a copy of the site files from my 1st site built for me, I added them via FTP to the hosting company. I realise when I edit the new site via the CMS it is editing both sites plus when I try to change anything to the CSS file I get the following error -
So my questions are what do I need to change to be able to deploy a new site with the files I have to make a new site?I also don't understand where the password is coming from, I can see the User ID comes from the database. in the Asp.net connection strings are the following:
site Data Source=sql7.hostinguk.net;Initial Catalog=***;User ID=***;Password=*** - Where is this password coming from?
membership Data Source=sql7.hostinguk.net;User ID=***;Password=***;persist security info=False;initial catalog=***;
I've been reading through the fb developer api documentation and I'm trying to find out what would be the easiest way to post information on a website to the website's own facebook page. for instance - the assumed workflow is like this:
an admin user adds new content to the company website - and once submitted that content should automatically appear as a link on the company's facebook page.
Do I use the API, facebook Connect, a facebook Share button etc. Looking for some recommendations based on my assumed workflow. Project will be coded in c# (although I'm really looking for recommendations of which tool to use from someone's experiences with the api)
Is it possible to use JavaScript passed by Ajax on the client-side? I am getting an "object expected" error from an onClick event from a HTML control that is passed with the JS. The controls and JS work when the page is rendered on the server.
I'm getting this message when going to a web app that accesses my service.
"The content type text/html of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8)..."
The thing is, it happens once in a while even when no changes have been made to the service or the web app. And I can make it go away most of the time by going directly to the .svc?wsdl page in my browser and then coming back to the web app.
