I am using SqlDataSource control that retrieves information based on a city value from another control (textbox) on the page entered by the user.
[Code]....
The query works fine when the user enters a name of a city. However, if I leave the textbox blank and enter nothing, no records are returned by the query.I need all records to be returned when user leave the textbox blank and there is no value of the city. How to do that?is there a default value can do that?
As you can see, the connectionstring parameter is defined to a specific connection string name and I need to be able to set such a parameter to a different value, for example, to a session variable content.
I am using DAAB with stored procedures. I use stored procedures more then once if possible. If I add a parameter later in stored procedure, I have to supply value for this in functions where it is even not being used as well, other wise it shows an error that number of parameters are not same. if I add parameter in last of parameter list in stored procedure and set a default value for it and I may have not to provide value for this from functions where I am not using it.
I have pass following SQL Query to the through ObjectDataSource

The logic here is, the user should login first in order to retrieve his/her album. when the user is logged in, im retrieving the 'userid' and using it as parameter to load the corresponding album from the database.
when i login and open the albumpage, im end up with this exception:
"Failed to convert parameter value from a String to a Guid".
What could be the reason and how can i avoid this exception.
by the way im using the aspnet_Users table's userid field.
I'm trying to compare a parameter of type String with a database field of type ntext. Below is my vb code. carDescription is a field in the database table that is of type ntext. The code didn't work because you can't use the equality operator.
Dim carDescriptionLookupCmdString As String = "SELECT carMake FROM car WHERE carDescription = @description" Dim carDescriptionLookupCmd As New SqlCommand(carDescriptionLookupCmdString, dbConnection) carDescriptionLookupCmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@description", description) Dim reader As SqlDataReader = carDescriptionLookupCmd.ExecuteReader()

This is my scenario. I have a couple of content place holders on a Master page which by default are empty. Two of the content place holders are laid out side by side. I'll call one MainContent and the other SidebarContent. What I'd like to see happen is if a child page has content in the SidebarContent, the width of the MainContent should be adjusted accordingly. Is there a way to determine at runtime from the Master page if the calling child page has populated the SidebarContent? How do I go about this, if possible?
In one of the methods I'm using in my MVC app, there's a param that accepts a list collection of strings. If I have a string parameter, I can give it a default value of an empty string, but I cannot seem to give the list collection a default value of a new, empty list collection. I get the error that's beginning to seriously grate on my nerves about requiring a compile-time constant. getting the generic list to work with a default empty set?
I have a data entry form. the end user supposed to key in the data as integer. if they do not enter. I do not have default value to put. for the text, I will put the space as default value. Since there will be a lot fields, I really do not like to code as default zero while end user load the data again.

The reason that I select elements by css class selector ($(".classificationFolder")) is that, this control is a user control and used in the same page more than once. That is why I'm not using $("#searcher").
I tested the code In IE8 and Chrome 8.0.552.28 beta. This issue is arising in both of the browsers.
