when i convert tiff file to pdf in debug mode it converted successfully but when i host it on localhost it didn't convert and throw an exception:
Cann't make pdf files. Try again.System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {71DBCBF1-587B-42E4-9B30-74B80F4AA70F} failed.
I've been thrown into the middle of this project without knowing all the background. If you've got WTF questions, trust me, I have them too.
Here is the scenario: I've got a bunch of files residing on an IIS server. They have no file extension on them. Just naked files with names like "asda-2342-sd3rs-asd24-ut57" and so on. Nothing intuitive.
The problem is I need to serve up files on an ASP.NET (2.0) page and display the tiff files as tiff and the PDF files as PDF. Unfortunately I don't know which is which and I need to be able to display them appropriately in their respective formats.
For example, lets say that there are 2 files I need to display, one is tiff and one is PDF. The page should show up with a tiff image, and perhaps a link that would open up the PDF in a new tab/window.
The problem:
As these files are all extension-less I had to force IIS to just serve everything up as TIFF. But if I do this, the PDF files won't display. I could change IIS to force the MIME type to be PDF for unknown file extensions but I'd have the reverse problem.

Is this problem easier than I think or is it as nasty as I am expecting?
When I upload small sized tiff file(approx. 800KB) in my website folder on local system through fileupload control in asp.net. It uploads the file successfully. But when I upload 5MB or more in size tiff file. It can't upload file and display the following message.Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. Here is my code:
if (FileUpload1.HasFile) { string filename = FileUpload1.PostedFile.FileName.ToString();
I got this error in a project I did a while back. I think this was a web site project that i converted to a web app project. This was a while ago. This is an app I'm trying to run on my local machine. I'm not using IIS.
Does anyone know what this means?

My website provides a facility to upload images, using the ASP.NET FileUpload control. We accept both jpeg and tiff formats but I have just decided that all tiffs should be converted to jpegs at the time of upload. If possible, I want to avoid saving the original tiff to disk. I would any sample coding for achieving this conversion prior to saving (ideally in VB.NET, though I could always run C# code through a converter).

I am trying to configure my web application to send emails to my email address in case of any error . Below is my coding in the web config file, I am following example from a book cuase I AMM A nOVICE TO VISUAL STUDIO AND .NET AND C#. THE NAME OF THE BOOK IS ASP.Net E-Commerce in C#. I am not sure what to put in for the MailForm value since the book did not say could someone tell me .
[Code]....
In my other configuration file under the App_Code folder I have this coding Below:
I've add MSChart to a webpage and I'm also using a Survey page I got from 4GuysFromRolla (http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/061604-1.aspx). Both work on my development machine but when I move them to my hosting site there are issues.
With MSChart page the chart is not displayed although it's included the Page Source code: src="/ClubInformationTracking/ChartImg.axd?i=chart_3d90c53b0f844807a2491a1d79a636a1_0.png&g=75fecf0f14cf4121b623691d383263aa" alt="" style="height:300px;width:700px;border-width:0px;" />
And when I try to open the Survey page I get this:Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'sstchur.web.survey' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Assembly Load Trace: The following information can be helpful to determine why the assembly 'sstchur.web.survey' could not be loaded.
WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftFusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging. To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftFusion!EnableLog].
The Hosting site is using Version 4.0 and the dll needed for the survey is in the BIN directory.
When I moved my files to the hosting site I had to change every instance when I referred to a file from: "~/FileName" To "FileName"
I've tried all of the "fixes" I could find for the MSChart that involved changes to the web.config file but because of the error messages associated with the Survey page I'm guessing this is the issue.
I need to used openForecast.jar in my asp.net app, for that i read here and there and found IKVM, when i wrote in cmd
ikvmc openForecast.jar
then i got warning message like this
D:BobbyTelkom Projectikvm-0.44.0.5in>ikvmc OpenForecast-0.4.0.jar Note IKVMC0002: output file is "OpenForecast-0.4.0.dll" Warning IKVMC0100: class "org.jfree.data.time.TimeSeries" not found Warning IKVMC0100: class "org.jfree.data.time.RegularTimePeriod" not found Warning IKVMC0100: class "org.jfree.data.time.TimeSeriesDataItem" not found Warning IKVMC0111: emitted java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in "net.sourceforge.op enforecast.input.TimeSeriesBuilder.<init>(Lorg.jfree.data.time.TimeSeries;)V" ("org.jfree.data.time.TimeSeries") Warning IKVMC0111: emitted java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in "net.sourceforge.op enforecast.input.TimeSeriesBuilder.<init>(Lorg.jfree.data.time.TimeSeries;Ljava. lang.String;)V" ("org.jfree.data.time.TimeSeries") Warning IKVMC0111: emitted java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in "net.sourceforge.op enforecast.input.TimeSeriesBuilder.build()Lnet.sourceforge.openforecast.DataSet; " (org.jfree.data.time.TimeSeries") Warning IKVMC0111: emitted java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in "net.sourceforge.op enforecast.input.TimeSeriesBuilder.build(Lorg.jfree.data.time.TimeSeriesDataItem ;)Lnet.sourceforge.openforecast.DataPoint;" ("org.jfree.data.time.TimeSeriesDataItem") Warning IKVMC0111: emitted java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in "net.sourceforge.op enforecast.output.TimeSeriesOutputter.output(Lnet.sourceforge.openforecast.DataP oint;Ljava.lang.String;)V" ("org.jfree.data.time.TimeSeriesDataItem")
I also found that openForecast consist of about 6 class files and 3 subFolder which each contains several class files..how to fix it (since the documentation of IKVM itself still getting me nowhere)
I'm running .NET Framework v4.0.30319 so the Framework shouldn't be an issue. I'm not using any DLL files or bin directories. How do I setup the IIS/Virtual Directory if I'm using Forms Authentication for the whole website using VS2010?

after i can copy my file to another folder i realised that if this webapplication is used by multiple users at once, then some users are going to get locked out because each one is trying to copy those files.
so how do i tell the user thats trying to use a file to wait untill the file is available.
I have built an ASP.NET (.NET v4) application in VS 2010. It is working just fine. But when I try to create deployment package (so I can deploy it in our test IIS 7.5 Server), it gives me error like this,
Error 1 Could not open Source file: Could not find file 'C:11-2 estobjDebugCSAutoParameterize ransformedWeb.config'. 0 0 test
Thing is in past, I had deployed the SAME application using the SAME method.
I'm retrieving a binary file from the database, a .pdf file that I would like to let the user open and view. From what I can tell, there are two steps to do this:
1. Convert binary file to byte array
2. Convert byte array to file content
Here's what I've got so far:
[Code]....
This isn't working and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find a solution. I'm getting a blue squiggly under c1.docData in the Dim bArray line.
Imports System.IO Partial Public Class MyexcelPage Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Response.Clear() Response.Buffer = True Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Dim stringWriter As StringWriter = New StringWriter() Dim htmlTextWriter As HtmlTextWriter = New HtmlTextWriter(stringWriter) Me.RenderControl(htmlTextWriter)
Not sure what to do after this or if the above will do anything.
When debugging my application, I m getting an application level error in global.asax file. The Server.GetLastError() reads "File does not exist." but thats it. No more details on the filename or the location where the code is trying to find a file. I commented out the application_error method, with a hope that the exception would be thrown when the debug the application, but no errors were thrown. How do i find the source of the error, cos I want to resolve this issue by either putting the file that the application is looking for or by completely removing the code that is referencing the file.
Actually i am trying to storing the uploaded file into database but when i run this codes:
[Code]....
I got this error: " Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'File'.Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'File'. " can anybody tell me why this error came out?I tried toi change my connection string in web config, but it still showing the same error each time i run it in my local.
I have a folder called GUI. Inside GUI thers another folder called PDF and inside this folder, there are some PDF files. This folder (GUI) is uploaded to the server too. Then I have a WebForm with some ImageButtons. When I click one of these ImageButtons, I want the file to open in a new tab. I tried with the following code:
[Code]....
As you can see, I build the path using the tooltips of the different ImageButtons. The ToolTip = File Name I want to open. When I try this in debug mode, it works. It opens the pdf file in a new tab. However when I publish my website and upload it to the server... it doesn't work... when I click an ImageButton I get the following exception: No application is associated with the specified file for this operation

whenever i m trying to upload more than one file i m getting this error "Cannot access a closed file. ". The file size is very small, the format is also .doc, .xls. The first file is uploaded correctly, no problem at all. The problem arise when system tries to write second file. Any ideas? On upload button event, I have taken all the files in httpfilecollection which i assign in session so that after attaching i can upload it later on save event. Problem occurs in save event that too on remote server. It's not happening on my local system.
