Iis - Deployed .NET Application Reverts To Old Code Base
Apr 28, 2010
We have an ASP.NET application running on a webfarm. When we release a new version and copy it to the production servers, occasionally it happens that after a few hours the application reverts to a an earlier code base.Have anyone else experienced something like this? Would sharing an application pool between two applications running different versions of the code make this happen?
Additional information:
3 x web servers running w2k3/iis6
ASP.NET 3.5
We have deployed an application in iis 6.o. We set cache for 1 hr in that application so that the updated data in the back-end will be visible by the user after 1 hr. If the requested data not available in cache it will fetch from database directly.
Is there any way that I can clear this cache in between 1 hr for some of our testing.
Resetting the website and app pool and deleting temp asp.net files didn't work, I have tested that.
I developed an application locally using the Visual Studio 2008 built-in web server and it is running nice and neat on every single browser. When we deployed it on the IIS6 and open it on IE8, there are rendering issues. The fonts are bigger than the other browsers (which are still nice and neat) and some components just moved around. The generated HTML is the same as the others.
I'm trying to deply a 3.5 Net application developed in VS Web Express and built using the asp compiler. This works fine when tested using an eval version of Win 2008 Standard server on a VM. However when installing on a production Win 2008 Standard server it fails with the message can not load assembly as it has not been signed or the signature does not match. How come this works in one and not the other? The live server has symantec AV installed and running? If this the reason? Have a bit of knowledge ( as all devlopers do) of OS's but am totally stumped by this. If I could even replicate it on the development machine would allow me to move forward. Do i need full Vis Studio? Do I need to sign the DLLs?
My application is working correctlywhen I debug it against my sql express. Now i have deployed on IIS on another machine with win2008 web server and changed the database connection string.I would like that the application uses always the same user to connect to the database and not to use the identity of the connected user.
Error: Cannot open database "XXXXXX" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'
If same web application is deployed on three different servers, which things we need to take care of and what things should be common amonges all three?
I'm trying to write a simple website (ASP.NET v4), which will call Windows Search, find a specific file and return it to the user. I've put together the following as an example: it calls the Windows Search service on "remoteserver", and returns the path of "somefile.txt":
I have deployed my application to the remote server. But some error occures during that runs on the server. So i need to trace the server side code. I don't have Vs .net in my server but i have that in my client machine. Is there any way to trace the code from the client?
I know there have been countless posts on these types of problems, and I have read through alot of them as well as doing Google searches, but I have not found anything that applies to my specific situation. If anyone has posted a similar question link me to the post with any appropriate derisive comments . Mods if this is the wrong forum feel free to move the post to the appropriate location.
I am a newbie C# developer. I have been getting my feet wet writing a C# web app for my department. I am using the following system:
Windows 7 Professional Visual Web Developer 2010 Version 10.0.30319.1 .Net framework 4.0.30319. IIS version 7.5.7600.16385 Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385CO SQL Server 2008 R2
When I run my application in the VWD debugger everything works fine and looks the way I want it to work. When I deploy to IIS (which is on the same box that I develop on) I start having some issues. Here is a breakdown of the problems I am having:
I have an asp:menu control with orientation set to horizontal. When I initially load the sitre after a deploy the menu displays correctly. But when I go to a different web page in the app the menu switches to vertical and the width of each menu item spans the width of the div that surrounds it. On the same page that causes issues with the asp:menu I also have asp:ComboBox controls that are used to filter information on the page. The combo boxes just look like text boxes. The data that should populate the boxes is not present.
I also have some ajax accordion controls contained in asp:updatepanels, neither of which work. The accordion controls are all expanded, and I cannot collapse them. If I trigger an update the entire page reloads instead of just the specific control.
I do not receive any errors when I browse to the page that causes the problems. It loads just fine everything is just jacked up. Like I said, everything works flawlessly in the VWD debugger. I know the VWD debugger does not use IIS, which makes me think this is an IIS issue, but I do not even know where to start to pinpoint the problem.
I have to design asp.net application which has to work on kiosk system. I don't know anything about the kiosk system .so, whether the asp.net application will work on the kiosk system are not I don't know. So any ideas and any sample examples will be very useful for me to start thanking on those lines.
I have one asp.net application , when i run this application in the visul studio it run successfully But when i deploy this aaplication and run from iis its show me this error: "Operation must use an updateable query" I am using VWD 2008 express edition database: Foxpro
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010001): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80010001I am getting this error when I publish my Asp.net webfrom on Dev Server. The application opens Outlook 2007 to attach a file through the code. it works fine in local machine and in Dev itself ,but when publish it and try to access it fron the client machine then I am getting the error.
So most of the time my stylesheets appear properly. The standard/original one always works flawlessly, however it seems sometimes the mobile one is disregarded when looked at from a mobile device
I'm using a Droid X to view the page, in portrait mode, so the device width shouldn't be exceeding the max-width specified above, but sometimes, randomly, it still reverts back to the original css page.
I was wondering about the best MVC practices for handling multiple websites from one MVC codebase. The functitonallity will pretty much be the same on all five sites, with most differences coming from styling/branding. Is it possible to dynamically set a Masterpage in MVC ? Should this even be attempted? Can everything get handled cleverly with routing?
I have a "Clear" button which sets the gridview datasource to null and binds it. However, when I add a new entry to it, the old rows seem to show up again (in addition to the new row)...not sure what I am doing wrong....
gv.DataSource = null; gv.DataBind();
Shouldn't the above clear out the state of the gridview?
II am populating a radiobuttonlist in code on page load, although not when postback is true (I've checked this by the way).
Autopostback is set to true, viewstate is enabled (everywhere I can think of, although only in the content page, if that matters)
When I select an item, the postback happens, the populating does not happen, and the selection reverts back to the first item, which was never selected.
Nowadays I have the knowledge to do this in javascript, but I would prefer not to. It can't be that it should work like this, can it? The control would be useless. I want the index that is selected.
I got loads of website, that share one of two baseclasses. I need the two baseclasses to be able to share part of the same code. I dont want to have to duplicate the shared code per baseclass.
so.. I got a page.aspx that inherits the baseclass and that inhertis 'sub' baseclass that inherits the web.ui.page class. So far so good :-)
In my baseclass I got a Public (at the top of the class not in any method- not sure of the proper term) Varable that is constructed from a structure in the BO class.
it Public PageDetails AS CoreDomainSetupBO.GetStartUpDetails = {database method}
I need the pagedetails to be available in the sub baseclass but it cant be defined there as the page details value is defined differently in the different base classes.
I hope that makes sense, I need to sub base class to be able to use a property that is defined at baseclass level.
I am new in asp .net.I am not able to undestand why we call base class method when we override methods/events.Like automatically visual studio will put base.OnInit() if you are overriding OnInit.
I have to implement User base security in my Web project using .Net3.5. Followings are some we need:
Roles can be Admin, Manage, Editor, Member etc User can have multiple roles Every roles has its own dynamic menus and restrictions/resources All menus and interface will populate dynamically from Database
I heard some where this kind of i.e user base security can be implemented using HashTable but I dont know how is it?
Today I came to know that for this kind of work Java people use Interceptor Design patterns. So, how could I do the same in asp.net C#?
I'm building form validation controls for our C# ASP application. The bulk of the work is handled by a BaseValidator control (subclassing System.Web.UI.UserControl), which also has the markup for the validation output. This is then extended by subcontrols like PasswordValidator, that provides the Validate method and any extra fields needed by that validator control.
(The end goal is to have controls like <uc1:PasswordValidator ControlId="txtPassword" /> which we can plop into any form with minimum duplication.)
However, PasswordValidator.ascx.cs cannot access the form elements defined in BaseValidator.ascx; the only way I've found to do so is to duplicate the markup in each subcontrol's *.ascx file. How can I extend BaseValidator.ascx.cs and access BaseValidator.ascx's markup in the subclass?
