I have an ASP.NET MVC controller action with the following VB.NET signature:

The MapCordinate class is:
Public Class MapCoordinate
Public Latitude As Double
Public Longitude As Double
End Class
If I'm trying to send an Ajax POST in jQuery to the ClosestCities action, what should my request look like?
When I use the following code to POST to this action, in the debugger window of VS, position.longitiude and position.latitude are equal to 0.0 (0D):

I have Two Forms StringMain.aspx & Returner.aspx.... I have created 4 Divs at StringMain.aspx and a sample text "ToCheck" at First Div.. In the Returner.aspx form page load, i placed a label like this

I have set StringMain.aspx as default running page. So When i run StringMain.Aspx page,

I need to pass 4 arguments (3 strings and one comma separated list) from an ASP.NET page to another ASP.NET page using jQuery. The destination page ought to be launched as a separate window, which works fine with the following jQuery snippet:
$('#sourcePageBtn').click(function(){
window.open("destinationPage.aspx");
return false;
});
How can I pass the arguments to the destination page? I am trying to avoid the query string to pass the arguments because:
I don't want to show the url arguments (which can also be very long) in the destination window.
There are some special characters like ',/,, & etc. in the string arguments.
Edit: I'm trying to access the arguments in the script section of the aspx file i.e.
<script language="C#" runat="server">
protected void Page_Load ( object src, EventArgs e)
{
//Creating dynamic asp controls here
}
</script>
My specific need for the arguments in the Page_Load of the script section stems from the fact that I am creating a few dynamic Chart controls in the Page_Load which depend on these arguments.

i have a website where i provicde a link. On clicking the link a controller action method is called to generate a zip file after creation of zip file is done, i show the link to download the zip file by replacing the link to create a zip with the link to download the zip.
the problem is that after zip file creation is over and link is shown, when user clicks on the link to download the zip file, they are sent to login. After providing correct credentials in the login page they are prompted to download the zip file. they sould not be sent to the login page. In the action to generate zip file i haven't abondoned the session or haven't not done anything that abondons the session.
the user should not be sen't to login page after successful creation of zip file user should be able to download the file without login. i search internet on this problem, but i did not find any solution. In one of the blog written by hanselman i found this statement that creates the problem with the session: Is some other thing like an Ajax call or IE's Content Advisor simultaneously hitting the default page or login page and causing a race condition that calls Session.Abandon? (It's happened before!)
so i thought there might be some problem with ajax call that causes the session to expire, but i don't know what is happening? it's like this after users click on the link to create zip file the zip file is created successfully but the session gets expired. this is not what i want. Why does the session has to get expired after making a jquery post call to controller action to create a zip file? i hope u understand the problem.

How can I upload files asynchronously with JQuery?
I have a file upload field, after the image was selected, i make a jquery ajax post to an aspx page's page method. My question is, how can I pass that image via jquery? When I do $(this).val() it only gets the file name. I want to pass the image object itself.

I'm trying to use the jQuery.post() function to post an object to an action method, but for some reason the nested objects aren't initialised properly when they're received by the action method.

I have the following javascript. Problem is if I enter one row in the table "ingredients" but I am getting 2 rows in the resulting pass to controller action after seralising into my C# object. But the second object is null? I checked the javascript and the variable "cnt" is 1 not 2. Why would that be?

ia ma working on an asp.net mvc 2 app and i have a Users view, displaying all the users of the database. Then, i would like to add the ablility to display "users starting with fisrt name" capabaility on the same view. For this i created a list of all english leters that actually are links (<a href="#">A</a>, etc...)
I managed to handle the click event of each one of the letters and get the corresponding letter via jquery, but i don't know how to call theHttp.Post Users/FindUserByFirstLetterName(string letter) on the click event.
I cannot use the Html.ActionLink<> helper, since it redirects me to the HttpGet controller action.
I also tried using using jqery.Post but i also couldn't manage to call the action.

I got a list of checkboxes on my form, and a jquery script that catch a button click to get all the selected items (in an array) and post to a controller action.
This is my script: (yes A, looked at your sample but cannot get this to work)

That alert will print out correctly (like 1,3,5).
However when the above post hit my controller action, "selectedInvestments" are null, which I can't figure out why (back to my tekpub jquery videos, can't go on like this)

I'm trying to add file upload functionality to a page. I've got a form that posts the selected file to a controller with a 'savefile' method. But if I don't add a get version of 'savefile' I'll get a 404 error. Here is the form code which is presented on the Index page:

Intuitively I don't think I should need a GET version of SaveFile but if omit it I get a 404 error when the form posts. Why should I need a GET version of SaveFile when all I want is to post a form and save the file?

I have a ASP.NET web page which contains a table of check boxes and a button. I need to find the IDs of all the check boxes which are checked when the button click happens. Once the list of IDs are collected, it needs to be passed on to the server. I am able to do it using jQuery and PageMethods.How can I achieve this in the button click handler in the code behind file? i.e. the IDs of all the check boxes which are checked when button click happens.

I'm designing a sort of hierarchical system, as follows:
Contract
Master Commodity
Commodity
Sub-Commodity
Part
Each one of these are on their own page (for now). The user starts out on the Contract.aspx page. If they want to see the Master Commodities for the contract they are currently on, they will click the "ImageButton" I have set up, and I pass in as a command argument the ContractID (CommandArgument='<%# Eval("ContractID")%>'). This works great- I get to my Master Commodity page with the Master Commodities filtered on the ContractID I passed in.
Here's my problem: Navigating from the Master Commodity page to the Commodity page will (I think) require passing in the ContractID (so we JUST see stuff for the contract we're on), AND the Master Commodity ID (so we JUST see the Commodities that are related to the Master Commodity). I've tried the following: CommandArgument='<%# Eval("ContractID") + ',' + Eval("MComID")%>', but as you could probably expect, that doesn't work. If I can just do something like above and have a delimiter like the comma, I can go from there and make it work.

Let say I got the following button : <asp:Button ID="btnSearch" runat="server" /> and the following button event handler: Protected Sub btnSearch_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnSearch.Click ow, with JQuery, can I call the button event handler ? What I mean is that I don't want the page to refresh, so it's kind of Ajax call. I don't want to simulate the click but that on click the button event handler is call.

i would like to call an HttpGet GetEvents(Datetime dateSelected) controller action each time the user cliks on a date in jquery ui datepicker. I handle the onSelect datepicker event in order to call GetEvents() and refresh the Events page with the events for the selected date. The $.ajax method i use from jquery hits the GetEvents action, but instead of refreshing the page (and the url), i get an ajax result back.

So, how could i just call the HttpGet GetEvents() controller action via jquery, without the use of ajax in order to refresh the page?

I am using ASP.NET MVC with jquery. I have the following MVC Action that returns a partial page on Success. On Application Error, I am not sure what to send it for correctly handling it at the client side.

I haven't used Jquery to post Json data to mvc before, so this maybe a Noob issue.
I've got a really simple form, and am trying to post this data async to an mvc action. Within firefox I can see the data being posted, but I can't see it within the MVC action.
This code all runs through correctly, but putting a debug point in the action method will always show the form collection as empty.
