I have a master page with a menu on it. I have found now two pages out of dozens where for some reason the master page events aren't firing. I've put a break point in there and it never hits it. Is there something that could cause a disconnect between the page and the master page events? Really weird it happens in Chrome and IE but they fire correctly in Safari.

I was working on a small asp.net app. I have some dynamic themes in the heme folder and have implemented a page base class to load the master page on the fly. The master is having the ContentPlaceHolder like: <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="cphBody" runat="server" />
Now I am adding pages that are derived from my base class and added the form elements. I know, Visual Studio has problem showing the page in the design mode. I have a dropdown box and wish to add the event of onselectedindexchange. But it is not working. the page is like this:

When does an event of a master page fire? What is the order of firing events between Master page and Content page in asp.net?
View 1 RepliesI have a fairly complex web app which has two levels of master page. The top level provides a nav bar constructed from a Menu control across the top of the page. Second level master pages provide menus down the side. It all works well.
On both Menu controls, I need to handle the MenuItemClick event. This works fine on the Menu controls on the second-level master pages. However, the Menu on the top level master does not raise the event at all.
This web site makes extensive use of Ajax and the top-level master page contains the ScriptManager. Before I go to all the work of creating a much simpler test site, why the Menu control is not raising the MenuItemClick event?

The logging call in the event handler never gets called. Equivalent code in the Menu on the second-level master does get called.
I am using a master page with a treeview control. I have 2 other pages Summary.aspx and Home.aspx
I want the Summary page to be loaded when I run the application but afterwards I want to load the Home.aspx page based on the selected Node change event of the treeview control.
I have placed the treeview control in master page because it has to remian the same for all my pages.
Did I do something wrong? The problem is I am not able to load the pages based on events occuring for Tree view control.

I am working in a product which is developing using telerik rad controls. Site have a master page which includes rad toolbar for main menus like file, edit etc.
When the site worked in IE 8 the half of the menu got inside of the content page. I changed the compatability settings of IE 8 to comptabality view and it solved. So i can view the site correctly. But in firefox also have the same issue. There not any compactability settings like this ( i think). So how can solve this? I mean wat issue is this ? Any css issue or any control behaviour?
I have a Master page and a user control on it.and i have a ASP Button on Usercontrol,the has to fire when ever i click on thats the default behaviour ..Now when the home page of my website loads and then i click on the button ,It works perfectly fine but when i navigate to other pages which have same master page the and then click on button the button does no trick!!
View 7 RepliesI'm facing a weird issue...My button events are not firing :(I'm using the 3.5 .net framework and I've already tried to run aspnet_regiis -c, clear the browser temp files, use windows integrated authentication, but nothing works...this is the cenario:
- windows server 2003
- app migrated from .net framework 1.1 (which was working fine) to .net framework 3.5
- IE8

m using ajax control tab container, in which i have placed 5 tab panels....
in first tab panel submit button is woking fine,but in 2nd tabPanel button is giving problem,its not firing even a single event...
I have a WebUserControl with a Button and some other controls (placeholder for images, labels). On a certain page, a number of these WebUserControls are created (using Me.LoadControl) and added to a PlaceHolder on the page.When the user clicks the button on either of these usercontrols, I want a method on the page to be called. I have been doing this by handling the Button Click event on the usercontrol, and then letting the usercontrol raise another event. I use AddHandler after creating the usercontrol to add an eventhandler method to this custom event. Sounds confusing? Here's a simple example.

The idea is this:Button is clicked on the TestControl: TestControl.ButtonClicked event is raised. On the TestPage, the bestControl_ButtonClicked method is called The Number property of the calling TestControl is assigned to a label so I can see it. However, it seems that the TestControl_ButtonClicked method is never called. Via debugging I can confirm that the Button Click event, on the TestControl usercontrol, is fired, so that the TestControl.btn_Click method is called. The TestControl.ButtonClicked event is raised.After creating a TestControl, the AddHandler statement is executed. After clicking a button on the page however, nothing happens. I have a ASPX Page that contains several user controls, which are loaded dynamically after user interaction.
On one of ascx I have a hidden button that is being clicked on some user actions (via button.click()), which works fine on 1st page load. But after the form is being submitted once, the other ascx is loaded. There if user clicks the back button and resubmits the 1st form (again via button.click()), button_clicked event on server does not fire again.
I am using frames in my webpage.in one of the frames i have a menu control whose items are database driven.when click on the menu item, i want another page to be displayed in other frame.
now i want to pass the the selected menu item text to the other page using session variable which is in the menu item click event method.but the thing is when i click on the menu item, the click event is not firing.
is there any better way to pass the selected menu item text to the other page?

View 6 RepliesThere's a master page that is used by all the pages in the app. This master page hosts a dynamically generated menu. Opening of pages etc. is almost always handled through Response.Redirect(). Here's the catch:
I login to the app and it shows me a default page, with the master page at the top. So the Page_Load() fires for the master page. So far good. Now I go through the menu and select an item. Clicking the menu triggers a postback where the Page_Load() of the master page is called again. After that the Page_Load() of the desired content page is fired, and then the Page_Load() of the Master page is fired yet again! So each time I click a menu item, the master page is loaded twice!
i have 5 tabs in my master page application. how can i make 2nd tab as default?
View 9 RepliesI have an asp:Menu control on a master page that is reading its menu items from a web.sitemap file via a SiteMapDataSource.When I click on a menu, the new page loads which uses the same master page, but the ASP:Menu vanishes. I have put some plain text next to the menu for testing, this appears on the new page but the menu does not.Does anyone know how to get the asp:Menu to remain visible on the page?

the user can change the data within the gridview then click a save button to update the data within the database.
However in order to know which rows have been changed I have a textChanged event associated with each textbox, but the event isn't being fired.

Currently I'm doing common functionality required throughout my site inside of my masterpage. What I want to do is move this functionality to a BaseClass so All my pages inherit from the Base Class. However, I'm not sure how to set this up interms of c# code with regards to Using a Base Class and then having a masterpage applied to my aspx pages that i create.

I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?

However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels.My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?
I have a problem i am trying to work out the best method with my limited skills. Im using vb.net(VS 2010) I am using a dll for an IFrame , which is call from code behind. On my site I havea masterpage which has two gridviews. ( GrdViewWebBureau is the one i am using for this query) GrdViewWebBureau is contained within an update panel and updated on a timer control trigger. GrdViewWebBureau updates the page with file counts and status from our clients. I can click on any one of the cells and the code behind is fired. What I am trying to do is put an IFrame on the master page and every time a user clicks on the grid, the Iframe is fired up.
I have tested the iframe and vb code behind from a dummy page and it works, however when the Iframe is on the master page it doeant work. What I am tryingh to achieve is that no matter what page a user is on the site, they will be able to click on the GrdViewWebBureau and the iframe will fire with the correct childpage. Each webPage may also have an Iframe as well, so i dont know if it is possible to make the IFrame global and just call that control ?? I have no idea if 1 this is possible with the code i have and 2, if i have the brains to understand the who what why and when.
