Performance Difference In Having Huge Javascript Code Against .js File
Dec 9, 2010
We have a .aspx file which has about 400 lines of javascript code. Is it a good idea to have such huge code in its own file? What is the performance difference in having huge javascript code in aspx as against the .js file?
I was thinking about the performance when I use code to hide some control in aspx page using delimiters or in cs file. For e.g. If I have a panel and I want it to get shown following some condition, so I can achieve this by two ways
Does it have any major effect on performance/ memory if my web.config is really huge (say, 1000+ entries in <appSettings>)? Is it a good idea to maintain a different custom xml config file for all business specific settings for my app?
I have one Store Procedure that generating report ..
For storing the data there , i used many temp. tables. There is many Select Query , little less insert and delete query.
Now if there is huge data around 1 lac in temp table my select query taking to much time and also may be insert and delete query
I added Primary key to all auto Increment Field in temp table. Also defined Clustered index on that primary key as unique Clustered index to improve the performance .
But there is not so much improvement in case of huge temp table.
Right now the whole Store Procedure is taking time to complete around 1.5 days or around 30 hours ..
So i want to increase the performance as much that it completes on nearly 3-4 hours.
I am working on an ASP.NET project that has significant backend processing existing in PLSQL. I was wondering if I re-write this code properly in C# can I get similar performance results or is the PL/SQL code going to beat my C# code every time?
I would like to build a site and use SQL Express database. Ny question is that is there a difference in perforamcne betweeen Express edition and Web edition?
I have almost 100 website that will update in a condition, I have a winzip archive that contains the files that replaces those websites. I want to know that
I can extract that files in a folder and then copy them to all 100 websites folders
I can extract the archive directly to 100 websites folders
which one is better in performance and less prone to errors
I am developing a huge almost millions of users and very complex logic , secure and optimize web application.but i am thinking to use client side archeticture with asp.net like gmail is using.
I'm currently exporting a database table with huge data (100000+ records) into an xml file using XmlTextWriter class and I'm writing directly to a file on the physical drive.
_XmlTextWriterObject = new XmlTextWriter(_xmlFilePath, null);
While my code runs ok, my question is that is it the best approach? Or should I write the whole xml in memory stream first and then write the xml document in physical file from memory stream? And what are the effects on memory/ performance in both cases?
EDIT
I will indeed be using XmlTextWriter but I meant to say whether to pass a physical file path string to the XmlTextWriter constructor (or, as John suggested, to the XmlTextWriter.Create() method) or use stream based api. My current code looks like the following:
I have a website that shows images people have uploaded.
[URL]
I want to be able to show a popup window when i move the cursor over an image. It should show information about the user that i take from the database.
I have found a javascript that works, it fades a window in and out. But i cant call it from codebehind.
I have a JavaScript-based timeline which needs to use data from an SQL server. The queries and the JSON conversions have been worked out in the form of C#.NET functions within a code file related to an .aspx page. So for a complete newbie to ASP.NET, how do you set up a function call like this from JavaScript?I would love it if someone had some simple example code I could learn/get some pointers from.Edit: I am using .NET 3.5
I have an application that needs to display a confirm dialog box. I want to use Javascript to display in .cs file. The dialog box should be fired automatically i.e. it should not be fired by onclick or onclientclick etc.....
protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { if ( temp == true ) // checking some condition in application
I have huge excel files that I have to open from web browser. It takes several minutes to load huge file. Is it possible to open a single worksheet (single tab) at a time from excel file that contains many worksheets? I have to do this using C# / asp.net MVC
I have a relatively simple page that will do most of its operations on the client side using Javascript or JQuery. However, initially I do need to retrieve some data from the DB server based on QueryString parameters.
I plan on passing this data in the form of a JSON string to the script by an old-fashioned ASP manner ( var severData = <%=MyPublicData %>) block where MyPublicData is defined in CodeBehind as:
Public string MyPublicData;
The question is, which event in the ASP.NET page lifecycle is the best for this? Page_Init ? Page_Load? Also, is it worth the effort to do this in ASP.NET MVC. I did look at this possiblity but it seemed a little too much for a simple page like this where I do more 90% of the work on the client.
