Create Code To Generate DB From Domain Model

Mar 27, 2011

Out of good design practice and organization, in which project should a local development SQL database be in a web based application? I'm just starting my assignment so I currently have 'CompanyName.Web.UI' and 'CompanyName.Domain' projects setup. Im using LinqToSql and creating my database from POCOS, meaning I'll have to create some code to generate the DB from my domain model. I.e.

DataContext dc = new DataContext(connString);
dc.GetTable<TableType>();
dc.CreateDatabase();

MVC :: View Model To Convert To Domain Model?

May 4, 2010

Say I got a domain model as follows: (and my repository expect an instance of this object)

[Code]....

And a view model (which my views are based on)

[Code]....

At the moment I got it like this and have my controller action manually create a new Person object from the PersonModel object before passing it on to the repository, which does not feel right.

So I tried to have PersonModel inherit from Person and pass that to the repository (also tried casting the PersonModel to a Person object first), but that don't work out.

What's the right way to have PersonModel automatically cast to Person? I want to keep this logic as my current structure allow me to keep things really loosely coupled, with the repository layer not having a clue how it's being used.

Automatically Generate Buddy Classes From Model In C#

Apr 28, 2010

I use Linq to Sql (although this is equally applicable in Entity Framework) for my models, and I'm finding myself creating buddy classes for my models all the time. I find this time consuming and repetitive. Is there an easy way to automatically generate these buddy classes based on the models? Perhaps a visual studio macro?

[MetadataType(typeof(PersonMetadata))]
public partial class Person
{
}
public class PersonMetadata
{
public object Id { get; set; }

MVC :: Generate Proper Controls In View Based On The Model

Jan 24, 2011

it is possible to customize the typed view generation process to generate the proper controls based on the fields annotations of a model. For Example I have a Person Model that contains Foreign Keys like CityID,DepartmentID etc. So When i generate a view againt the Person Model it creates textbox's for all the Person fields but i want dropdownlists against FK fields. It Should be smart enough to at least geereate the peroper controls based on the Person's field annotations. How can i acheive that? Has anybody worked on that?

Web Forms :: How To Generate HTML Code By Commands From The Code Behind Page

Dec 30, 2010

how to generate HTML code from the code behind?

I would like to build a form that generate an html code inside a for loop.

I will let the user enter the photo name and No. of photos

Then I will generate an HTML code like this:

<a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(1).jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(1).jpg" alt="" width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br /> <a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(2).jpg" target="_blank">
<img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(2).jpg" alt="" width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br /> <a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(3).jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(3).jpg" alt=""
width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br />

depending on the No. of the photos the code will be duplicated in the loop

Then I will display the result of the loop in label or in a textarea to let the user copy it any where

The problem is that while compiling my code it considers the HTML code as a part of the behind file and gives errors on the single quote, the double quote and on the parentheses

C# - How To Create A Single Webapplication As A Sub Domain For Many Companies

Jan 18, 2010

i am working on a project that you can subscribe with your company name and you can use all features of site specificly to your company. for example company abcd can get its own url from our website like

www.test.com/abcd/productlist.aspx

company efgh can also login with its own url and see its product list.

www.test.com/efgh/productlist.aspx

I am thinking on the approach that will use Global.ascx file to distinguish companies, i will write code to extract company name from url in global.ascx for every valid request and in all the pages i will put this.form.action = request.rawurl.

Javascript - Posting Data To Another Domain Through Code-behind?

Aug 30, 2010

Since we can't post data to cross domains, I want to post the data to my aspx page and a code-behind code will take the data and submit to cross domain (which is not being operated by me, so I don't have permission to modify source code for jsonp) and also the website to which I pass my post data is also returning a cookie which includes shopping cart info and I need to store it on my local browser cache as well.

What I know is I need to use WebResponse and WebRequest classes for that manner.

MVC - Generate An ActionLink From Code Behind?

Jan 4, 2010

I have a number of permissions, and based on a set of conditions these permission determine if a user can see certain features. I have written a helper function for this as the logic in the view became quite extensive.

Essentially I'm looking for a function the same as Html.ActionLink that I can access from a class file (Ideally if I can access the Helper that would be great) So I can do somthing like so,

public static string GetAdminLinks()
{
if(PermCheck)
{
return(Html.ActionLink(...));
}
}
