I created a WSDL with Visual Studio 2005 and tested it using localhost. It worked exactly as anticipated and returned the expected results. I basically called the WSDL from a classic ASP page using Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.3.0") and all went well. The url was http://localhost/service.asmx/methodname.
I deployed the WSDL to the remote server and tried to access it the same way; I changed localhost with the domain name as http://domainname/service.asmx/methodname. But now I get 'Post to http://domainname/service.asmx/methodname failed with 500.

some differences hosting a website on some remote server VS running it locally on dev environment.The reason why i am asking is, If I run my website locally it works fine no exceptions, runs smooth. But when deployed on a remote hosting server. Its like a nightmare to me :(very often i get object Instance not set to instance of object..... I am ok with the error message, But the same situation should happen locally,

I have a site (URL...) which loads and runs fine locally on the server itself, but when I try to access this externally from outside of the server (and firewall) will not load. In Safari for example, I get the message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".I have other sites on this server that do load and operate fine so I don't belive this is a Firewall issue. One thing I did notice however is that when the error message appears, it seems like the site is trying to change the protocol from http to https.
I'm trying to debug this to find out what could be happening. I've tried looking into the IIS logs as well as the Event Viewer but I see nothing. I have even tried to turn on Failed Request Tracking but no errors are logged.

I am getting this error after uploading my web app to my Rackspace box.
CS0246: The type or namespace name 'User' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
It's odd because it works fine on my local computer where I do development. The actual line of code is:
public User user = new User();
I am using C#.

This may be obvious to many of you (hopefully!) I have a site under asp.net created using Visual Web Developer 2008 and MSSQL 2007 (all express editions)All ok so far.My PSP requires the addition of a couple of traditional ASP 'screens' to redirect payments to them. I cannot run this under VWD2008 development server as .asp are not allowed, so am looking to move to running it locally under IIS7 which is turned on.How do I alter the site to run on the IIS7 instance?

I have developped an asmx webservice with visual studio and I deploy on IIS 7 which has 3.5 Framework by copying all the files.
When testing it says
Could not load file or 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I don't use [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService] so I don't understand why it tries to load System.Web.Extensions.
Note: I'm not using any other assembly/lib I'm just learning webservice so it's very simple: I create a webservice Test.asmx with one method which uses one class Test.cs within same namespace WebServiceTest. This works locally.

A site that utilizes Windows Authentication.It accesses the LOGON_USER variable to pull the domain and user.It works fine in the development environment.It works fine on one of my servers.We are in the process of setting up a new server for this application to be hosted on.When I setup the new server,the LOGON_USER is always empty for remote computers.Windows Auth is turned on.I have tried it with Anonymous Access on (how the current server is setup) and also off.If I remote on to the server and run the application locally,LOGON_USER is filled.When I access the site via IE from a remote machine,it prompts three times and then fails.Even if I key in credentials in the Windows prompt.nothing

I have a page which uploads a file from server A to server B. The user first uploads the file to server A, where it's saved into a diretory, then once the file is safely stored there, I'm transferring it to a second server, server B, using the following code:
[code]....
So, in summary, the only difference I can see between the working case and the non-working case is the server that'ssending the file.

The application pool randomly shuts down. I am assuming this is due to Rapid Fail Protection and errors are occuring that are triggering it. However... there are no errors being reported in the event logs. So my next inclination is to think of the possibilities of a memory leak. How do you test for memory leaks on a website running locally?

I have a very simple and stupid problem but I'm unable to find a solution. I'm trying to create folders and files locally through my code, however I get a permission exception when I try to write in a folder in my application. Normally I'd run this on a remote server, and ask the system administrator for writing permission on this specific folder, but I need to run this locally for the moment.
If I navigate to the file in windows explorer, and right click the folder and click on Properties, I can see that it's set as Read Only. However when I try to disable this tickbox and click on Accept, nothing happens. It ignores me, and next time I open the Properties of this same folder, it's still marked as Read Only.
I've googled this and found a solution which implies using MS-DOS and a command named "attrib". This is not working for me either. I also read about adding an ASP.NET account on my PC and granting the right permissions to this, but I'm not sure how to do is.

im explaining this base on a test page that i have hosted as i was trying to track down my problem, i have a hosted page which i have hosted on the internet on a hosting service provider. the page has a normal gridview that is linked to a SqlDataSource. and theSqlDataSource has sql statements for selecting data, updating and deleting. They all work fine locally and even if i host them locally through IIS. but on the hosting service they down work. only the select work, which means i can view my data on the gridview but i cant manipulate it, delete and updating dont wanna work, they dont do anything. and the worse part is that im not even getting an error from them, on the grid i have enabled the autogenerate edit button and the delete, how can i make the update and delete work, or what is it that makes them not to work. the code for my test page is below

we have sql server running on a server.
when person A connects to sql server from their machine and executes a stored procedure (a stored procedure which runs a query and sends an email) - it executes and the email is received.
when person B connects to sql server from their machine and executes the same stored procedure, it executes but the email is never received.
does this mean the stored procedure is executing locally on both users machines?
if not....then why does person B's execution of the stored procedure not generate the email?

I am trying to host my website developed on ASP.NET framework 3.5. this website project is working perfectly on my system in local host enviorment. but when I try to upload it to hosting server ( mochahost.com-- hosting server) it is creating problem.
I have uploaded all the webpages to standard folder, created the database using script file, I can see the table and data through Plesk control panel, so database creation is not the problem. I have change the connection string in web.config file according to the template given on the site.
here's the connection string I am using:
<connectionStrings>
<add name="JJMCONDO" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" connectionString="data source=db200.my-hosting-panel.com;Initial Catalog=ahalyam1_varun;User ID=xxxxx;Password=xxxx" />
</connectionStrings>
where JJMCONDO is the connection name
database name: ahalyam1_varun

We are trying to add a new page to a running web application. such that a new dll and aspx file are being added. I've setup break points in the code file and Built the application transfering the dll to the remote machine bin file and the aspx page to a folder within the web application. Note this folder is not in the same folder hierarchy as it built in. I'm not sure if thats the problem. Basically we are appending new functionality to a web application.I've copied the correct Remote Debug Monitor to the server and have it running.
