I have tried almost evrything and nothing seems to work,,, I dont see errors but the code is not firing when I bind in the properties of the button control ,,nor the code behind.

I have a master-detail page consisting of a databound GridView and ListView. It's pretty standard - when you select a row in the GridView is shows up the ListView. The problem I'm running into is when I want to link to that page with a specific row pre-selected in both views. It seems like it should be easy enough, but I just can't figure it out. Currently, the ListView is connected to the GridView with a ControlParameter in the SelectCommand.

We do have a search page for customers which returns a list of data from a table.
Once we select on an item it should redirect to another page with customerId as a querystring parameter..
Now the problem is we have to save all the customerIds and need to send them to display page..and need to select next one once they done with previous one without going to the search page again..
Example:
if they got 10 customers in the search page then we need to send all 10 ids to display page by starting display of firstone and once they select next button on display page they have to move on to the next cutomer from that list..if they reached the end of list they have to start again from the first...we need to avoid the user going to the search page for each customer every time...
I have a DataList control that I use to display a list of words.

When a user click on any of these words, I want to display the details of this word's in my ListView control that is on the right side of the DatatList control. The ListView control is setup to use a SQLDataSource control. I want to use the SqlDataSource1_Selecting method to grabe the ID from the DataList control but I'm not sure how I grabe the ID or how to setup the DataList to send the ID over.

i am trying to develop forum page in asp.net using c#. I have listed forum threads lists as Title, Description, Posted On, Posted By like that using Listview. I want to take the displayed data (and these are just the standard columns representing fields in Table A) and store them in Table B using a Stored Procedure
(The scenario is much more complex but I've left out anything not relating to this exact problem).
I've added a Button to the ListViews ItemTemplate and I'm using OnItemCommand to create a Sub for its "Click" in the Code Behind.

Where I've highlighted "Description" in the last line. In a GridView, this would be enough. Description is a Column name in Table A and B and iy's an Item in the ListView. But I'm realising that, with ListView's, the data binding is not as "automatic" as a GridView. Just using the columnname is not enough.
What do I use instead of the word Description to reference this column in the Parameter?

I have anested ListView control. I also implemented a jQuery to automatically expand the TextBox control inside of the nested ListView Insert Template. The problem is, when the Textbox expand, the outer ListView control is not; therefore, the Textbox control expands underneath the buttons of the outer listView control. How do I expand the outer ListView control as the nested ListView textbox is automatically expand? One great example is in Facebook where if I add a response comment, it'll automatically push any comments below mine down. If nested Listview control is not the best way to do this, what are my options?

The control works perfectly when the QueryStringField "PageID" not not encrypted. When it's encrypted the control no longer works. Is there a way to assign the page number in the back end? Is there a way to work with encrypted query string with this control?
I would like to use the gridview paging feature and have built a gridview with a user control. The data source has lots of columns, so to make it easier I want to return a LIST<MyObject> and just pass <Myobject> into the user control rather than all the data elements. Not sure how I access the object of the data source to bind to the control. Assume it would be during ondatarowbound.
Also, my guess is there is a better way to do this than gridview. I'd take either solution that allows me to have easy paging and pass the complete object into the user control

I have a link, which when clicked I need to show a pop-up div. The contents of the div will be displayed using a usercontrol. The usercontrol will display the contents based on a query string value.
I would like to know:
1. How can I implement this in the most effecient way. I don't want to use a separate page on which I will have the usercontrol and then display the page in the div.
2. Suppose I call a JS function ShowDiv() on the click of the link, to display the pop-up div. Say, I call the function this way ShowDiv('querystring'). Now how will I pass the value 'querystring' to my usercontrol.

In my asp.net web page i have a dropdown box. Say like i have to bind EmployeeName to this dropdown box to show up as items.
I am using a dataTable to bind to this grid by having two columns in DataTable (EmployeeId and EmployeeName). But i am only binding the EmployeeName to the dropdown list box.
In the UI, after the user selects an Employee, I need to pass that employee's id to a function. Is there any way, i can directly pass the underlying data (EmployeeID in the DataTable attached to this dropdown), when the user selects the EmployeeName from the dropdown. Or i will have to make a roundtrip to the database and get the selected Employee's Id and then pass it to the function.
i have a linkbutton inside the Datalist control while i am clicking i would like to pass the ID value of the corresponding Link button. How can i pass the id value for the onclick function?..
View 7 RepliesIn my project, I need to create a user control to handle the sorting and pagination of all the grids in the application. The grid however will be different in different pages with different formatting.
I am able to do this by exposing a property from user control which takes gridview as the input.
then in page load, i bind this grid, and assign the sorting and paging event handlers to this gridview variable.
This way I am able to do the sorting and paging, but the problem is I have to bind the grid in all the post backs, and then in the sorting and paging events.
So when a user sorts, I have to bind the grid twice, once in page_load and then in sort event of user control.
I can store the first set of records in viewstate and bind that in page load, but is there any other way, so that i dont need to bind the grid in all post backs but only inside of not postback.
I've an anchor tag in listview itemtemplate, I'm trying to find that control in Listview Item databound event with the below snippet
