i have created a pluIn(setup) for IE. this plugin add in IE addOns.this pluIn(setup) installation and uninstallation is working perfect. now i want use a webservise that check version of my computer plugin and server computer plugIn(setup).if both version are different then ask for updation of PlugIn(setUp).if i click on yes then it update my end PlugIn(setup).

My asp.net pages are working normally as before locally on my machine, but after I uploaded my web.config file to my ISP, the same pages are not working online.The version of asp.net my ISP has is 2.00.50727. I can upgrade that to 3.0 for an addional cost, but how do I revert back to my previous version, is this done in the wetb.config file perhaps?

By default, when I install my web app using my web setup project, in the Installation Address folder dialog window, the default Application Pool is DefaultAppPool. It has been stated in the MSDN documentation that we can change this default TARGETAPPPOOL, say to "ASP.NET V2.0". Here is the excerpt from MSDN... "The Application Pool list shows the available application pools on the target computer, and the default setting is named DefaultAppPool. To change the default application pool in your Web setup projects, you can use a post-build action to update the name of the application pool in the MSI." I made Web Setp Project for a web application, I need to change virtual directory property for the web application.
This virtual directory is linked to TARGETVDIR property which is disabled in the property grid.But I need to control it, I searched for this and I found that the only way is to use orca.exe and change msi using it.
Can I amke another solution to avoid making modification on nsi after build???
I am working on a setup package that installs a web site on IIS7 and IIS6. I've already made it for IIS7, now I need to make it for IIS6. But I am working under windows 7 so I can't install IIS6 on it. Any way, I have to test my setup project. What are the ways to do it (preferrably free and legal ;) ) ? I can think of a remote connection to a machine that already has IIS6 and using a virtual machine, for example virtualbox.org . But even though virtualbox.org is free, WinXP with IIS6 isn't ;) .

View 10 RepliesI have modified a SharePoint visual studio workflow which works as per requirement on the dev machine. I have to deploy it to an email enabled document library on sharepoint server and it is set to be started automatically when a new item is added to the library. When i deploy it to the server, and perform a manual upload to the doc library i.e. use the upload button to uplaod a document, it runs as expected. but when an email is received by the document library, a previous version of the workflow runs. this is really frustrating. I have removed all the previous versions of the workflow and now there is only one left. I have tried removing the workflow and adding it again but still the same behavior. I have removed temporary .net files from the windows folder but no luck.
If the new version is not installed properly, why is the manual upload working fine? can someone help? I want the same version of the workflow to run on the manual upload and email.

After checking in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_.NET_Framework_versions I found out that the ASP.NET version is 2.0 SP2.

I have 2 machines on a domain. The first machine has IIS 6. 0 inatalled on it, whereas the second machine has published web content.
On the local machine ie. Web server i have configured the website like "A Share located on another computer" Eg: //Machine2/Application1. The pubished web content is inside a shared folder on the remote machine. Finally when i run the application in browser(IE 7.0) i get the following error.

I am having trouble installing SQL Server on my system ... it appears to install ok but when I try to connect it using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 it will not connect and mentions something about versions. I downloaded the Northwind database to carry on with the tutorials .. this also asked me to download the MS SQL 2000 version which I tried and this also did not work, other versions include 2005 and 2008. When I tried to open the program through the programs file from "Start Menu" only the configuration manager folder is there.
I have also tried to install the trial version from the website but to no avail. Each time I have restored to factory settings on my laptop and it still fails to connect. I notice that when I restore to factory settings there are loads of icons where the uninstall window lists all of the programs and there is still SQL Server 2008, lots of Icons. I think that version 2008 came with the laptop as it is a business sony vaio sr vgn-sr46gd model with vista business.

I read on MSDN that Ntext and Image will be removed from future version of SqlServer, but as I check my db the aspnet_Profiles uses ntext and image MSDN says replace them with nvarchar and varbinary

I update my freetextbox version into 3.3.0.22838. I don't know how to update it. i just copy paste my new version in bin.

I have been developing my first setup program and for that It needs few dlls to be registered using the Regasm and also Regsvr32. I have used vsdraCOM and vsdrfCOM registering options for the dlls to register in VS2008 for Regasm and Regsvr32 respectively.
1) Are the registering options that I have used correct?
2) Also if there is a new version of the dll then it should install the newer version of it. How am I supposed to do this? And the fact which is running in my mind is where does(I mean the location) the Setup project will look for the newer versions of the dlls while installing the program?

I have four pages and user enters certain information and navigates to the next page. In the last page, when user clicks on submit button it will redirect him to the confirmation page. Once the user is in the confirmation page and clicks on back button, all the fields in the previous pages must be non-updatable. Note: User can use the back button to view his previous data but not-updatable anymore.

I'm having trouble setting up a custom NEW User Screen. Here is my situation, I have a Request for Access Screen that uses the CreateNewUser Wizard Control. I want to leave the Question and Answer for this, however I also want a custom NEW User Setup which I build myself to allow the system administrators to setup users, but for this setup I don't want the administrators to have to pick the question and answer for the NEW user, so I would like to bypass this for this setup. However, my Membership.CreateUser keeps asking for it. How can I accomplish this? I've included a copy of my current web.config file. You will notice a AspNetAdminMemberhip which I use to allow the System Administrators to reset passwords.
