What I want is that I can add /edit or delete view pages. I don't want a complex content management system , just looking for any examples where one can add simple view page, I have no idea how to add action result dynamically, programatically on a controller page in mvc2.

What web control is to use for adding, editing and deleting?
I have a page where a user can add any number of a specific custom control by clicking a button and delete any of them by checking a "delete" box and clicking the delete button. This custom control has a dropdown, 3 radiobuttons, 2 text boxes and 2 checkboxes. The anomaly occurs when you add at least 2 controls, then delete any of them but the last one.
When each control is rendered the name and id attributes are autoincremented to make them unique however, in the above casewhen the custom control is actually renedered to the page the name attribute has an index that is 1 higher than the id. For example:

Now I am sure that I am doing somethign wrong but I just do not know what. Since the controls are added dynamically I have to recreate them on each postback so that the postback data can repop the fields. However, when the user deletes then the postback event makes me recreate all of them, then I have to remove the controls the user requested to be deleted. At this point the auto generated index is incorrect so the nextpostback will lose the data so I have to manually renumber the control IDs. Now this seems to work on all other controls within my custom control except for the radio buttons.
I am stuck in chart controls...Here is my prob... There is a ListBox containing some items...when user selects multiple items from the list box I want to generate a dynamic table with the number of columns same as that of the number items selected in the listbox. And for each selected item I want to show a seperate chart in the columns...Currently I want the same chart control for every selected item (i.e. a static hard coded chart that i will replace later by dynamic values)....I am using a method that draws a chart control using a sample dataset... I am calling it each time when a new column is created..Also the DrawChart method executes for the first column only and throws an index out of range exception! after the first execution...my code is not working...here

I know I can do this with a huge "if statement" however, I know there must be a better way. I have created an Enum with the column names. I feel if I could take the IListItem.EnumName I would be set. However, I'm not too sure on how to do this.
I am learning how to use repeater. I added two links to my repeater, a delete and an edit link. However, when I click either delete or edit link, they both take me to same method. How do I add the link such that when I click on edit, it take me to an edit method and delete takes me to a delete method. Below is a sample code.
Also, how do I delete a single row in a repeated. For example, I have a simple form that display an item description and a quantity. There are six item display on the form, but I wish to delete the third item. How can I pass in an id that will delete the third item rather than delete everything (i.e where item_id = 3)

I've been at this same question in different forms now for a while (see e.g. Entity Framework and MVC 3: The relationship could not be changed because one or more of the foreign-key properties is non-nullable. ), and it's still bugging me, so I thought I'd put it a little more generically:
You have an entity object (using Entity Framework), say User. The User has some simple properties such as FirstName, LastName, etc. But it also has some object property lists, take the proverbial example Emails, to make this simple. Email is often designed as a list of objects so that you can add to that object properties like Address and Type (Home, Work, etc). I'm using this as an example to keep it generic, but it could be anything, the point is, you want the user to be able to add an arbitrary number of these items. You should also be able to delete items (old address, or whatever).
Now, in a normal web page you would expect to be able to add these items in the same View. But MVC as it seems designed only makes it easy to do this if you call up an entirely new View just to add the address. (In the template for an Index View you get the "Create New" link e.g.).
I've come across a couple of examples that do something close to what I mean here:

The problem is, although the sample projects on these sites work fine, with mock model objects, and simply lists (not an object with a child list), it's a different thing if you actually want to do something with the posted information - in my case save to database through the Entity Framework model. To adapt these cases to that, all of a sudden I'm in a maze of intricate and definitely not DRY code... Juggling objects with AutoMapper and whatnot, and the Entity Framework won't let you save and so on (see above link if you're interested in the details).
What I want to get at is, is it really possible that this is such an uncommon thing to want to do? Update a child collection in the same View as the parent object (such as the email addresses in this case)? It seems to me it can't be uncommon at all, and there must be a standard way of handling this sort of scenario, and I'm just missing it (and no one here so far has been able to point me to a straighforward solution, perhaps because I made it too abstract with my own application examples).
COMPLETE NOOB, dont know anything.. I have a Virtual directory ~/ClubInfoFiles that i upload some files too using a uploader i made. I might want to change the uploader i made to be able to change to a subdirectory or something so i can upload all files into one folder but different subdirectorys. the uploader i would like to be able to have a dropdown menu of all the subdirectorys within "ClubInfoFiles" say i has subfolders : Minutes, Flight Plans, Maintence Records, etc... but i would also like a field to where i can create a new subdirectory and have it automaticly update the dropdown. i want to list those files in gridview and have a link to dowload/open and dellete the files. i have found some code that gets close but it uses Auto Generate columns. really i dont need all that jazz, just the Name, File extention, and hyperlink the file for download/view. i would like to be able to delete and possible upload using the gridview... is this to much for a noob?

View 3 RepliesI have a GridView in an update panel that is bound (in code-behind) to a business layer object. The first time this page is accessed, Editing, Deleting, Updating, etc. work fine. However, if I click my browser's refresh button, the functionality of the edit, delete, etc link buttons is gone. They do nothing.

How to delete the history pages in ASP.net?In my application when the user logs out, i delete the session variables and expire the cookie(aspxauth and asp_net_sessionId) but however when user clicks on the back button of the browser, user could still see the pages with all the user information on it. However the page cannot interact the server as sessions are not available but expired pages contain demographic information which is an harmful scenario for Security issues.

1) The File Name which is a hyperlink
2) a button (html button preferably) on click of which I want to delete that particular row.
I have a website developed in ASP.NET created by someone else, sitting on another server... until now... a simple(ish) setup with login to update content. The site was zipped up and I was told it would be a simple case of uploading all the files onto the new server. I've managed to upload the site and it works fine... but I can't access the editing pages as it will no longer accept the username and password when I go to login. The host server is running ASP.NET v4 and IIS v7. Hosting is with [URL] so I'm also getting used to their way of doing things.

And in my content page I want to allow user to edit that title. Scenario is that Label should be converted to textbox when user click label. edit and then when textbox will loose focus, it should be converted to updated label. I don't want to change my master page contents. Otherwise may be I can add a hidden textbox on masterpage to replace it with label. But my concern is that Can I do this without editing my master page? I tried to work with JQuery .replaceWith() method. But I am new to JQuery and asp.net. (Below is my code).The nested gridviews are filling out nice, I've set the DeleteParameter in the SQLDataSource, but I'm still getting this error when trying to delete a criteria: 'The Gridview 'gvCriteria' fired event RowDeleting which wasn't handled.'I've tried to create a method 'gvCriteria_RowDeleting', but that didn't seem to work out.Someone who can give me a piece of advice? What is happening is when I click to edit the record, it presents me with the record fine but when I click Update in my FormView, the Gridview doesn't update.
