I have a table that stores User messages

It Has a FromUserID and ToUserID
Because Employees are Identified through EmployeeID and Customers are identified through CustomerID, I needed to use UserID's so Employees can leave messages for employees and Customers and Customers can leave messages to employees and other Customers 1-2 and 2-1
My Quandry is this, How Do I retrieve the information if the UserID might be a Customer or Might be an Employee, when the UserID could be from one of two tables

Mar 23, 2011My problem is regarding title written above. Currently I have some functions that rely on Sessions to do the job. Everything works smoothly when it is left to default. However, I do not like the idea of losing sessions in case of crash and I have modified my web.config to use Sql Server mode instead.
I have run the necessary commands to create tables and stored procedures in my database using aspnet_sql.exe. I am able to store values into the database but have not been successful retrieving them. Since it has been working fine with InProc mode, I think I can safely assume that there's nothing wrong with my codes. Here's my web.config setting:

SQL Server :: 2008 Views And Table Joins - Retrieve Data At Once When The Page Loads
Mar 21, 2011I have a web page with a GridView and a table outside the gridview to display more information of the record when it is selected (like record details). I'm using data of five tables for this particularly window. I use one table of the five to bind the gridview the other tables are for the details, but I use like 1 or 2 fields of those tables. I'm binding the page with web services. I need some advice on which is the better way for doing this to make a faster web page.
In sql server I made a view with the five tables (all the tables relations are working perfectly). In the web service I call the view; and in the web page I call the web service to bind the page. Everything is working. All I want to do is retrieve from the server all the necessary data only once when the page loads and bind the five tables data (like 18 fields total) in the gridview which I only show 12 fields the other 6 fields are hidden, those 6 are for the details which I get with jQuery (that's another topic). Bind everything only once and manage the data on client side. Everything is working perfectly. Here is my doubt.
How are the maximum table joins I can make? To retrieve the data via web and not get a server time out error. Which is a better way to make a faster page? Make 2 views one for the gridview and one for the details and put each view in a web service; or make one view with all the table joins and one web service. Right now all is working but I have to make other pages that use different tables and joins and I don't know if the server gets me the time out error when the page is fully working.

How can I select say the id and date for the latest logentry when I select a record from the tblItems table? In other words I want a result set with all columns from the tblItem table and also some additional columns from the tblLog table (LogId, Date, Event) for each row selected from the tblItem table. My problem is if multiple users call the same SP in same time it throwing error..(I guess one user at a time can access the table and table will be locked, that is why remaning users getting error)how to handle this situation. it is a web application, so at a time so many people can call the same SP.How can many users insert data in the same table in the same time?

Jan 10, 2011I created a aesthetic control that creates two lists in seperate div tags organized with a table for each. The control always the user to click on the img tag associated with each item to move it between the two lists. I am doing all the movement between the lists via javascript and want to have a good method for obtaining the values and storing them in two lists upon Postback. I thought of doing something like storing the indexes/classes in hidden values and them reading them to find the items but that seems messy. Also, thought there might be a clever way of traversing the DOM via FindControl() but not sure. Any input would be great.
One other thing is that this is not a composite control. All the tags are being rendered in the RenderContents() method. So I don't know if there is a way to even tack on a runat="server" attribute to an elem like I normally would if I wanted code behind access to an html element.
Here is the HTML that is generated. I don't think there is need to post the server side code since it does nothing more than generate the html at this point.

everyday there will be many offers for each model and some of them may have no offer in this day. Now Suuppose that I have 10 Products with 15 offers. When I select by date it returns the last inserted offer and they may have repeated products and also there will be some products not appear in the result. how can I get a result with the latest 10 Offers for all my products with one offer per product

Oct 25, 2010I'm having a gridview in my aspx page with checkbox, User can select one or more than one record(s) at a time and clicks on delete button, Then i'm constructing an object of my DTO and adding all the checked row's Primary Key (DataKeyNames - GUID's in case) to a serializable class and generating an XML and sending it as parameter to the Stored Procedure.
My Doubt is, can i bulk delete all the rows from database table those are present in my XML document??
If it works, I can do bulk update with XML only, i already did bulk insertion by generating an XML..
My Another Question is, Will it affect the performance? Each time when i construct an DTO object and adding it to the Generic List??
WHich one is better, I mean ObjectDataSource or SQLDataSource or my XML method?

In practice, I have a simple ADO.Net DataTable on my code-behind which is used as a data-source for a asp.Net GridView control.
This table contains some business flags on its 0th, 1st, 2nd columns.
I need to store those columns on the rendered HTML of the grid-view -so that I can reach them via JavaScript- but I do not want them to be visible.

Jan 3, 2010I am fairly new to ASP.Net and web programming in general and I am having issues trying to add values from a dropdown list in my gridview to another table.
Here is my scenario. I have 2 tables in my SQL Express DB. When editing the values of table2 in a gridview, I would like to show some data from table1 in a dropdown so users can select a value from table 1 and enter that value in table 2.
I have the Gridview setup to show table2 data.
I created a field template and inserted my dropdown list and linked it to my table1 data source.
When I run my web form, I can click to edit one of the fields in the gridview, and my dropdown list correctly displays the data from table 1, but when I try to update the table2 with the dropdown value, it doesn't correctly update. The row in table2 never updates.
posting the dropdown value from table 1 into the appropriate field in table2..
Again, I am new to this and have been following the tutorials etc on this site, but can't find one pertaining to this topic.

Feb 21, 2011how to retrieve a value from a typed dataset. I am trying to retrieve a value from a row within a row return from a tabale adapter method. Example:
Dim transAPI As New PN_TransactionBLL()
Dim trans As PN.RetrieveGEmailDataTable = transAPI.getGEmail(itemtId)
The tabeadapter method retrieves 1 row of data and I would like to pull the values retrived such as "trans.rowproperty"(if thats the correct syntax) where "rowproperty" would contain the actual value returned.
