Visual Studio :: Checkout/Checkin Takes A Long Time?

I'm running a single page (default.aspx) web site in Visual Studio 2010. I have a few other projects in the solution, but they're all taken out of the build queue at the moment. I'm using Visual Studio Development Server as the web server (I haven't tried IIS yet). I'm using the HTML5 Boilerplate from [URL] I'm testing in Chrome and IE8
Problem
Visual Studio 2010 is outputting "Debug" information to the Output window every time I refresh my browser. Whilst this isn't a problem in itself, it seems to be extremely slow in doing so... it takes around 4 seconds to show the page in full from initial refresh.
I've noticed that the "Script Documents" folder appears in my solution view, and some files (notably JS files) seem to take a while to show up. I've tried removing all the JS and CSS file references from my page, but it still does it.
So, to troubleshoot I've created an index.aspx page with no content apart from the generic ASP.Net template code, set this as the start page, but it still takes just as long to load up as the other page.
As a last resort, I've created a new project and tried it with no changes to the default page - still the same, takes a few seconds to finish loading in either browser.
The strange thing is that this happens even when I stop debugging in Visual Studio and browse directly to the URL on the ASP.NET Development server.
Output Windows contents when page is refreshed

saving my aspx file takes too long, it has some nested tables, but it is nothing huge, it has like 50+ overall controls on the form. When I hit the save button, it takes a few minutes and drives cpu crazy, so I am guessing it is doing something in the background.
So, what is the reason, any clues how to speed this up?
I am using Vs.Net 2010 Ultimate
I am working on a ASP.NET 2.0 application. It is hosted on IIS 6 on Windows 2003 server.
Few pages have jpeg images (around 50 images and 50 KB each). It takes long time to load the page for the first time. But when i open the same page for the second or third time it is faster.
why does a web page take long time to load for the first time?
Is it cached somewhere when it loads for the first time? Do we have any control over it?
some time sthe design pages takes longer time to open sometimes its proper the code page open immediately but the design page tekes longer time to open but its not always how do i solve

View 1 RepliesWhen I try to delete files or directories within the solution explorer, they take an excessive amount of time to delete. When I say excessive, I mean I almost had enough time to type this post out before a directory with nothing in it was finally removed. I'm using visual studio 2010 on Windows XP SP3 and I primarily program in MVC/C#.
View 7 RepliesWhen I Publish my website it takes around an hour and a half. This is publishing to a directory on my local machine, it is not FTP'ing to a remote server. The build seems to take about an hour (when I build without publishing it is noticeably slow, but 5 minutes slow, not an hour), then the publish seems to take a further half an hour.
what could be causing this and how I can improve this? This obviously causes issues when I make a change (I'm constantly updating the site) as I need to wait for an hour an a half. I'm considering not precompiling the site now and simply uploading the .aspx and .cs files direct to the server as this is unmanageable for me.
At work I'm tryhing to upgrade an ASP.NET 2.0 app (which we wrote using VB.NET 2005) to ASP.NET 4.0. I had a few problems during the upgrade, but eventually worked them all out. At the end of the day I decided to give it a quick compile and see if I'd get the start page, so I hit F5 in VS 2010. I left it that way, and man was it acting weird. VS 2010 wasn't responding to anything. If I hovered the mouse over VS 2010's minimize or close buttons, in the upper right corner, then those buttons were flashing very rapidly. I'm not sure what was going on. After waiting 15 minutes to see if it would come up, I decided to try clicking on the close button. Nothing happened. Eventually, I had to leave (I take public transit, and I have to leave when the bus comes)But what I want to know is this, is this pretty standard behavior? Does it normally take this long to do this? This website is of modest size (<100 pages).
(Later) When I came into work today, 8 hours later, VS 2010 was still doing whatever the heck it was doing, but basically it wasn't responding to anything.
One of my web pages populates a droplist with about 60k items pulled from SQL Server, and this operation takes upwards of 10 seconds to complete. Are there some tricks or optimizations I can try to improve performance? I'm using a SqlDataSource configured as a DataReader.
View 5 RepliesIn development, our Asp.Net 4 website takes a fairly lengthy time to start after the project libraries are built
We do a fair amount of population of statics etc, but not enough to justify the length of time it takes the app to come up (probably 3-4 minutes)
We aren't building the website, just the libraries, and batch != true in the compilation element in the .config file.
I will try log some diagnostics, but any other pointers would be useful
Whenever I stop debugging an ASP.NET IIS web application it seems to take very long before VS2010 becomes responsive again (2 or 3 minutes). This happens when I close Internet Explorer 9 (which stops the debugging session), stop debugging in VS (which closes the browser) or when I detach the debugger from the debugging menu (which leaves the browser open).
My CPU time for devenv.exe goes up to 25% during this period of time. I use the professional edition (no intellitrace). Starting without debugging performs ok when I close the browser. I have some add-ins and extensions installed like TestDriven.NET, Resharper, PowerCommands, Productivity Power Tools, VisualSVN,...
I have selected around hundred data and then bind to the repeater each times it take a long time to save data after clicking the save button. How can i improve the performance?
View 6 RepliesI am working on a website hosted with GoDaddy, SQL Server 2005. I have a table in my SQL Server database with a full-text index. On my website, a user can type in search terms and the terms are then passed to a stored procedure in the database which performs the search. The first search takes about 45 seconds to get results. Subsequent searches return results immediately. I found a description of this problem in a Microsoft knowledgebase article:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915850/en-usGoDaddy tech support says I need to purchase a dedicated server to make the changes suggested in this article.Surely there is some other solution. Does anyone know how to avoid this delay without changing the server configuration?
View 1 RepliesI have set of folders in Source Control Explorer:
1, 2, 3, 4... etc
in each we have files:
a, b, c, d... etc
I need to CheckOut files with name 'a' in all folders Is it possible automatically or I should go into all folders and check one by one all files?
PS I have Visual Studio 2005, but installed only TFS.
I am working on a web application in C#. I am using FormsAuthenticationTicket to authenticate the user. The user's information is check against a sqlserver database, if the correct credential is entered, (combine the username and password, encrypt them using the FormsAuthentication, and assign the random number generated to a session.), the users is redirected to a welcome pages.
However, I notice that there are times when I run the application, and it takes over five minutes to display the login screen, or I have to stop and start the application in order to display the login screen . Does anyone have an idea what may cause this issue?
I have a solution I have been working on over the last few weeks with a 3 or 4 projects in that used to build and begin debugging in under 10 seconds. The solution contains 3 dll's and 1 mvc project.
As of today, it takes about 2 minutes to start debugging, it keeps pausing on "loading symbols for ccpCodeProvider.dll".
I'm debugging on the internal vs development server, and I haven't changed anything since yesterday?I haven't ever used symbols before, and I'm not trying to debug the framework or anything, I just want my stupid web project to run.I created a new solution from scratch and added a random console app, and that also takes forever to debug.
why after installing VS2010 SP1 starting and stopping the debugger takes forever?

View 4 RepliesI have an ASP.NET website that worked fine using and debugging in VS2008. I went through the upgrade process opening the solution in VS2010. I can run the site, but as I make changes in the app_code folder classes, they don't seem to commpile and warn me of compile-time errors. As soon as I get to a point that calls the class, the errors show up. Sounds JIT I guess, but this isn't how it was working in 08. Is there an option that was changed in the upgrade process? This is a large project, I really don't want to break something and not find out until some obscure page is opened.
View 1 RepliesI just took at quick look at Tailspin Spyworks and I think I would like to try the project. However, I did some looking around within the project and also did some google search on "Tailspin Spyworks and Paypal" but didn't really find anything. What I would want is to have a product page that displays as Tailspin does. When the customer wants to checkout that it takes them to paypal and when the user is done in paypal I come back to my site and receive the PayPal "Instant Payment Notification". My two questions are:
1) Does the Tailspin project allow the use of the Paypal checkout?
2) If the answer to question is Yes, does the project cover the Instant Payment Notification also?
